  1. On later models Panya yes it also operates the heated mirrors. I think from 2001/2002 onwards again. Before that the heated mirrors are always on when the car is running.
  2. They put the two symbols on the button after 2001 I believe Pete. Mine only has the rear heated windscreen symbol as well but it also operates my front heated windscreen.
  3. What was the code? Sounds a little strange that your gearbox gives up and you had a fault code thrown up but they're unrelated? Hmmmm
  4. Thanks Transporter... Yeah feels good, I nearly collapsed when Lexus quoted me for the new arms! Matt, if I turn up at WIM with you Tony will think I only associate myself with other IS drivers I went last time with my mate in his 300 I was thinking about Friday next week if that's any good to you as I'm off. Was going to call them on Tuesday. I could put it off until your free? Always good to meet fellow members :)
  5. Yes Panya that's next week :) Now the bushes are sorted I'm going to take it back to WIM for a full setup. It was only thanks to Tony that I knew they were gone! Lexus seemed to 'miss' it on the service
  6. Spent all morning helping my mate to change both the lower control arm bushings on my car, a complete pain of a job!! No wonder Lexus won't change just the bushes, it's a lot lot simpler just to change the control arms. It's only 5 bolts. If you try this yourself then your gonna need to take the control arms to a garage with a bush presser as there's no way the old ones are coming out or the new ones going in otherwise. Suppose you could chisel them out but that would take ages and a lot of effort. But i have no idea how you would get the new bush in without a press. Also make sure you mark on the control arm where the bushes sit as if you put them in wrong they won't work properly and your car will handle like garbage! Old bushes after removal As you can see the rubber is split, that's what's been making my car handle like blaumange! The old bush in the control arm They are completely wedged in there and won't budge with anything other than a press. Not even a hammer LOL! You need a bush press kit, find the right size steel rings. Once the correct steel rings are lined up it goes on the press and it will pop them out. Forget to take a photo of them being pushed out on the press. Stupid me! New bushes Line the new bush up the same way with the steel rings and press them in. You have to judge by eye when they are in. Then just bolt the arm back onto the car :) New bush fitted Oh and you'll need a ramp A surprise to me was that all the bolts were like brand new. Considering the car is 12 years old and I would think they were all the original bolts that is pretty impressive i thought. Was having nightmares last night thinking the bolts would be siezed and not budge. Lexus wanted just under £300 just for the control arm so nearly £600 in parts alone for both arms! Plus their labour charge and VAT would have took the price to over £800! Cost me £44 for the bushes and £50 for the use of my mates garage, bush press and his time. I couldn't have done this on my own! I'm way too much of a novice. Oh and the car now drives and handles beautifully again :) Anyway I'm knackered now and going for a nap!
  7. Yeah it should light up when all the others do. Sounds like your bulb had gone or is missing
  8. Yeah I also used a main dealer on my 12 year old car.... It's never been serviced by anybody other than Lexus Bristol and call me fussy, but I want to keep it that way... :)
  9. I just read through this and agreed with what Ray said that's all Noby, not siding against you or with anybody else. If a component of an engine is different then it's different in my opinion. I'll also say some of the comments directed at you Noby are a bit childish and uncalled for. I stopped name calling in secondary school. I promise this Is my last contribution to this never ending thread, maybe some of you should think about leaving it now as well as its all going around in circles. I mean your even discussing zetec engines now?? WTF? 31 pages could turn into 60+ lol... Happy Easter everybody and it's stopped snowing!!! :) :)
  10. Haha I'm getting dragged into this... So Noby and is153 you should meet up, I think you'd get on well :)
  11. Therefore they are different are they not, as they have a difference....
  12. Ray says the head isn't the same and the vvti con rods are different. I'd be inclined to believe that Ray knows what he's talking about...
  13. It's like hitting your head against a brick wall Ray! I have to admit I had a good laugh when I got home last night. thanks for this thread guys, it's pure gold!! :) My personal favourite part of the entire thread was Noby claiming that the Con rods being thinner doesn't make them different...
  14. Unfortunatly Ian, Noby seems to read and interpret things has he wants to suit him.....
  15. Anybody reading this thread thinking 'hold on Noby is right and Matt, Ray and Transporter know nothing? No didn't think so
  16. Can't believe you re opened this thread. Glad you did tho Ian, brilliant entertainment :) Gonna buy a big bag of popcorn and some beers and enjoy the long read tonight when I get home at 11 pm :) The only thing I have to say on this thread is.... Noby you can't call an IS300 a four door Supra! I'm sorry but even my 6 year old nephew knows a Lexus IS300 is not a Toyota Supra even if it has the same engine, gearbox and suspension. It's ludicrous that you still argue that....
  17. Ok I can't really help with your problem except I know how to lock your car in the condition it's in. Lock all the doors using the button on the drivers door while your are inside the car. Get out and lock the drivers door with the key. All your doors will then be locked. Using the key doesn't operate central locking so nothing is wrong there.
  18. I like the wheels caked in brake dust :)
  19. That's the pic of the loom I was thinking about Ian... It looked huge!!
  20. Haha just a bit mate... There's like 3 meters worth of wiring loom or something stupid like that!!
  21. Gutted fella.... It's rare to see a Lex getting towed by the RAC! Any more info on why the gearbox decided it didn't want it's oil anymore?
