  1. It doesn't matter. There's no best way of resetting. Just unplug the battery for a bit, job done. That's all the dealer will do anyway. I havent bothered resetting mine since I first did it when I bought the car.
  2. Do you have any warning lights on the dash? Might be worth plugging into a diagnostic. Sounds like a mis fire but that would show on the dash with the check engine light on. Could be the plugs too. It must have irridium plugs. Finally check that the check engine bulb hasn't been taken out of the dash or has gone as if its running that rough im surprised some sort of fault code hadsn't been thrown up.
  3. Reset the ECU is easy. Either pull the fuse or just unclip the negative from the battery for half an hour. The ECU learns your driving style and adapts accordingly.
  4. Ricky I believe you need the same irridium plugs as an IS200. Denso or NGK irridium.
  5. Blue was also my first choice but couldn't find one with TTE kit and Aero Alloys so bought my platinum ice instead!
  6. Yeah same here. Expansion tank was empty when I bought the car. Drove perfect, no over heating. I didn't keep filling it tho, I flushed it and filled it with all fresh coolant. But like Pete says it needs to work it's way through the system so keep topping up. If it doesn't settle in a couple of days then you possibly have a leak somewhere. Check under your car in the morning for puddles and wet patches.
  7. Just keep buying the older cars. They look better and they last longer. There's nothing there when buying a new car. My next door neighbour just bought a new Insignia. Just another bland looking thing sitting on his drive. His kids actually told him to get an IS200 as it looks awesome they said. Just sold misses's 1997 Celica, that was nice looking (and never broke) and replaced it with a 2004 C180. Nice enough car but it just blends in with all the other modern kack that's on the roads... Had this discussion down the pub last night Ray... We all concurred that 80's and 90's cars just looked better and were built to last. I don't like most new cars. They're all generic looking with flashy DRL's. I parked a brand new C class mercedes yesterday at work for a customer. I got in it and I didn't even know how to start it. And it freaked me out a bit, the second I got in it the Bluetooth on my iPhone connected to the car and "chris's iPhone" appeared on the dash! Lol... I also noticed when driving that brand new GS250 and the Merc that the dash lights are permently on. This would explain why I see so many brand new cars driving around at night without their lights on. If your dash is all lit up what's telling you that you've forgotten to put your headlights on?
  8. Yeah I find all the power is at the top of the rev range. Sluggish below 3500rpm especially in 1st and 2nd. Some valve opens at 3800rpm apparently so you feel a sort of "lift" from about 4000rpm. It does annoy me how slow it is from a standstill sometimes. You can tweak your car to have that valve open all the time giving you the 'lift' right throughout the rev range so I've read. Not gonna be perusing that one myself tho
  9. Good advice^ And I'm fed up with the Lexus alloys too... I've got receipts for 2 wheel Refurbs when I bought my car and they are now in need of a third refurbishment! The car is 12 years old... I've also read threads on here and other forums about the wheels. Lexus seem happy to replace then/refurb them once under warranty but that's usually under 3 years old. I think you may have a fight on your hands getting them done now but I would try. Also wheels are not part of the 12 year anti corrosion warranty according to my warranty and care book.
  10. Yeah you're right Stuart but I actually want Tony to set my car up, after meeting him and chatting to him. What he doesn't know about car geometry isn't worth knowing!
  11. Yeah will do Matt. It'll be a Monday most probably as that's when I'm normally off.
  12. The steering and handling is so much stiffer now and feels 100 times better. Car is swaying a little still and likes to wander to the left! Lol... So I need to go to WIM. I was going to go last friday but I had a few too many Thursday night so didn't feel like it!
  13. http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/blackboots-location.php This is where Tony is. Don't know if the other centres will use his settings but everybody seems to make the special effort to drive to Chesham to see Tony Bones (The Dr) Including me. :) I have to go back soon so if u fancy going up in Tandem let me know.
  14. Thing is there are plenty of garages all across the country that have the same equipment Tony does but they don't have his settings. They will set your car up the same as Lexus did leaving the factory. Those settings have proved to be flawed, it creates excessive inner tyre wear. Tony took up the challenge of getting even tyre wear without comprising ride quality or handling. He used donor cars for this and monitored them over a period of time to get the best settings for the IS200. So yeah you could take it anywhere that has laser alignment but it won't be as good as if you go to see Tony.
  15. Mate WIM is in Chesham in Buckinghamshire... Thats where Tony is.
  16. Hi and welcome to LOC. :) Seen and commented on it on Facebook Very nice
  17. I'm happy to spend about 2 hours doing mine... 7-8 hours is a bit extreme Panya
  18. To be honest I used to use them with no problems. But a few months ago at work a young lad took his pride and joy Corsa (I know, I know) to one and when he got back on closer inspection they'd left quite a few scratches and swirl marks in the paint. He was almost in tears. Since then I've not used them!
  19. Hi and welcome to LOC. No point remapping, can't anyway without piggy back ECU. If you go down the S/C or turbo route then it's worth looking at.
  20. Your crazy letting them loose on your car in my opinion mate....
  21. I always wash my own car... Won't let anybody else touch it!
