  1. There's pretty much no price difference in maintaining a 200/300. Lexus Bristol has told me that the service plans are identical for a 200 and 300. As I've said before mate, my best friend drives a 300. He had his cambelt and water pump done at Lexus and cost him £480ish...also on the 300 you don't need to change the tensioner as apparently it's more robust so if anything it should be a cheaper job on the 300 compared to a 200.
  2. Be careful changing your own cambelt. I know someone who changed their own tensioner on a chain driven Honda S2000 and he didn't torque the tensioner back in properly, chain snapped!! Engine a mess, valves bent etc....
  3. £800!!! Never Panya! I paid £350 for just cambelt and tensioners, idler. With the water pump would've been just under £500...
  4. Hi Lee. Welcome to LOC :) Some pics would be great!
  5. Hi and welcome to LOC. The Aero wheels will bolt straight onto any 1st gen IS200/300 :) They are indeed rare, good luck finding a set. Also they don't come cheap. In mint condition your looking at £5-600 for 4 without tyres!
  6. I have the sane problem. Don't think there's an easy solution.....
  7. Ok I'm gonna go for it! What I'm worried about is that I have to do 20-30 odd miles on the motorway and there's no services so I don't know if I'll have the guts to turn onto the M4 with the fuel light on!
  8. I think this is the best I've ever achieved! I've not really been driving that carefully! Nearly all motorway. still not gonna get 400 tho!
  9. Congrats.... Nice 1 :) £20 for an MOT? Wow must be cheapest in the UK. I believe the VOSA recommended price is £54??
  10. I'm coming from Swansea so mine will be completely filthy! And no I'm not stopping to clean it....
  11. There's no need for you to quit the forum just cos you don't have a Lex mate! I'm still a active member of the Primera owners club and the Z car club and I own neither anymore. It's the people that make the forum what it is fella... Stick around :)
  12. Mileage/age shouldn't be an issue as long as its been well maintained and serviced regularly. :)
  13. Do you still have the original OEM blades? If you do go down to your nearest Lexus dealer and they'll replace just the rubber for you for £20. These are the best. If however you don't have the original blades I found PIAA flat wipers are the best but not cheap. £40 for the pair.
  14. Yeah but there have been cases of the gasket going for a second time and Lexus won't do it twice for free. I'd be more inclined to look for one on its original head gasket with a full Lexus service history and around the 50-60k miles mark. That way if the worst happens Lexus will build you a new engine for free :)
  15. Cabin filter not on any service? Wow it's on every service including the 10k intermediate service on the 1st gen IS.
  16. I wouldn't buy those mate. Trust me the IS is a fussy thing when it comes to plugs. No difference between NGK and Denso that I can tell. I've had both types in my car. But buy one of those two brands and all will be well with your car :)
