  1. I much prefer to know the truth so your comments were much appreciated. I'm glad you saw it that way :) My brother in law used to own a 220d. Driven it many times. Superb car to drive when all is well :)
  2. Is it a Sport or SE? £1800-£2250 if a Sport ££1600-£1800 SE And you'll find it easier to sell with tax. Plus without tax nobody can test drive it. And nobody will want to buy a car they haven't driven or could drive home. Just my opinion :)
  3. I really didn't want to bum you out with your new car but you did ask. Prob wouldn't have mentioned anything if you hadn't asked, just welcomed you to the club.
  4. Hi mate. Nice looking car :) Not sure about your profile pic, might want to change that lol Are you interested in coming to the November meet at the plank and leggit? Details here..... http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/83870-plank-and-leggit-meet-nov-17th/
  5. I thought it looked good for a bit. But then I followed a 'modified' golf GTI which had done the same then a few days later saw a laddish corsa that had done it too. That was enough for me to change it back! Got no photos on my phone of it and I'm on holiday at the mo. Pretty sure I'll have some on the PC at home tho :)

  7. Hi and welcome to LOC Since you ask are you aware of the head gasket issue? In a nutshell basically Lexus have admitted to a design fault with the HG on the 220d. It fails! Lexus have an extended goodwill warranty of 111,000 miles or 7 years old if the car has a full lexus service history. If you car falls into that bracket and the HG fails they'll replace your engine for free. Also check any re call issues have been cleared up such as rattling dashboards, shaky rear view mirrors, faulty fifth fuel injector. Also keep the DPF nice and clean. This car will perform better if used for long journeys. doesnt like short trips and this tends to lead to it clogging up. And also some have had EGR valve problems I believe. Do a search on IS220d head gasket on this forum and you'll see what I'm talking about. Also the other probs I've mentioned are documented extensively on here.
  8. Ahh I've changed it again since then mate sorry. Didn't like it after a while. I'll try and dig a pic out for you but I thought it looked a bit boy racer ish after a while lol
  9. Yeah I even read Amazon had extra security at the request of rockstar at their depot in Swansea!
  10. Quite simply mate no unless you have it specially made which will be expensive. I have seen a few 2nd gens on the web, mainly in America that have put the new grill on but like I said they are custom jobs and to be honest i think they look a bit naff, sort of wanna be 3rd gen IS's Why don't you wait a year or so and just get a third gen IS? I'm sure there'll be some second hand ones around in 12 months or so.
  11. Yeah it really is a quick job but one that you shouldn't put off :)
  12. £100 each fitted at Lexus. Might get it for £60-70 at a independent garage. They take literally 20-30 mins each to fit so you shouldn't pay more than half an hour labour per side.
  13. I don't understand why your insurance would be void? You've notified them of a modification and they amend your policy accordingly. Your premium will prob go up even though the steps you are taking makes you less of an insurance risk it's another excuse for insurers to rip off an honest, safe motorists. I hate insurance company's with a passion! I got charged a £36 admin fee for changing my number plate last month! Joke!!
  14. To check ball joints, you jack the car up. Put your hands at the quarter to three position and shake from side to side. If you feel play then they're probably worn. Being totally honest mate if I thought my ball joint was making a noise and I had it confirmed by a mechanic that it was indeed making a noise I'd replace it.
  15. Brilliant :) I've seen that somewhere before, either on the road or a picture. Anyhow still funny as
  16. Is there play in the ball joint? Don't mess with ball joints mate, if it has play Change it! This is what happens when you ignore play in a ball joint for too long and it let's go, which it will! greasing up a worn ball joint has just hidden the noise, not cured the problem.
  17. Takes yours off, spray them black, then glue them back on :)
  18. hi u say u changed ur badges i would like to do the same to black ones do u know where to get them? Take them off and spray them. Then stick then back on. That's what most do :)
  19. How?????? Lucky!!! Mine is on my way to me according to Amazon. Excited like a kid on Christmas eve.. :) :)
  20. Where is the point in having anything insured if when you claim they charge you for it the following year. They are nothing but a bunch of thieving con artists. I wont be drawn any further on the subject. Mike Totally agree with you.
  21. My windscreen excess is £100 this year compared to £50 last year. I Had a stone chip repaired, that might have something to do with it? :(
  22. Not sure mate. I would check for you as I have 5 litres in my garage but I'm in Malta at the moment lol :)
