  1. Haha not unless the AA stopped and had a wee with them!
  2. A'int no justice anymore in this country, yet we join those yanks shooting and bombing the rest of the world because they reckon those countries thay are invading have no justice. Its an ironic world we live in. Couldn't agree more...
  3. £50 per door if completely mint! I bet chips away are more than that
  4. Mate honestly doors from a broken IS is the cheapest way. Going rate is about £30-40 per door with glass and all window motors working :)
  5. Well you can just bolt the turbo on if you run it at supercharger levels of boost and bhp but if you want higher than 300bhp and massive boost you'll Need to uprate. Also the expense comes from the manifold which will need to be custom made, exhaust, down pipe and intercooler and all the piping. Again all custom as nobody makes all this for a 1gfe. Also a Big cost is the engine management, custom ecu needed and professional mapping
  6. Hi and welcome :) You'll need some work on the internals of the engine if you're turboing it.... It gets very expensive mate. It seems it will cost you the Best part of £5k to get a turbo on her
  7. Not me but I also saw a broken down IS200 on the hard shoulder of the M4 on my way to the airport yesterday. I'm always interested to find out how and why a Lexus broke down if I see one!
  8. T-Cut? If its really deep the best option is to find a couple of doors from breakers in your colour. Cheaper than spraying anyway. I feel your frustration. A few years ago I caught a couple of chavs keying my Honda... I gave one of them a proper slap, the other ran off. Guess who got into trouble with the police?
  9. Yes this is a feature. Try driving off with your handbrake up... BONG!!! :)
  10. Yeah what Ian said, clean the filter :) Yes the ocv is the culprit of your probs I think. Misfire etc...you said the car hadn't been serviced for a while or no history so if that oil is old it's gonna clog up the filter giving all the symptoms you have and throwing up the codes you have
  11. Oh and get a spare key ASAP. You really don't want to loose all keys to this car. It's a nightmare if you do.
  12. Most common solution for this fault code is the VVT-I Oil control valve. Replace this and it could solve all your problems. Is that the only code you have? I ask because it is normally accompanied by a couple of other fault codes. Error 1 on the CD player is easily fixed. It's a dirty lens mate. Get one of them CD cleaner thingys and it should be fine. Key fob sounds like the battery has gone. Replace this and it should work and not need coding to the car. If after replacing the fob battery it still doesn't work then recode the fob to your car. You can do this yourself, no need to pay for somebody to do it for you. There are a few guides on how to do this on this forum. Do a search for IS200 keys :)
  13. Never heard of anybody doing that.... Seems a hell of a lot of effort for mpg gain and so much work would have to go into it. There's no way it's a straight swap, All avensis engines are 4 cylinder for a start and mounted completely differently.
  14. Hi and welcome to LOC. First thing to do is get the fault code that the eml is producing an post it on here. Ask the garage for the exact code the fault reader is giving or even better have a look yourself when it's plugged into a diagnostic machine/code reader. Without the fault code it's total guesswork. My experience is faulty plugs won't give an engine warning light but a faulty coil pack certainly will. The exhaust ticking like mad after turning the engine off is normal, it's the CAT's cooling down. £200 to change spark plugs is crazy money mate. Set of 6 is £50-£60 and a mechanic can change them in about 15-20 mins. Even I can change them in half an hour and have a cup of tea lol With no history of the timing belt then it's up to you if you risk it or change it. If it was done by Lexus there will be a date stamp in the engine cover somewhere with the date, dealership and mechanics initials and mileage at the change. The fact it's moved suggests if the belt was replaced the tensioner and idler wasn't changed. Personally I'd change it along with the tensioner and idler. Also maybe the timing is out, that's what's causing all the grief? I really wouldn't be thinking about engine swaps right now. Get the fault codes and get to the bottom of this. At 88,000 miles there's no way that engine should be in need of a rebuild. Valve stem seals isn't that bad a job, cost you in labour not parts. My advice would be to get it diagnosed either buy someone you trust or Lexus. Lexus will charge you about £45 for a full diagnostic and then at least you know the exact problem and what exactly needs replacing. You don't have to get Lexus to do it, say no thanks, pay for the diagnostic and go off and get the job done cheaper. Anyway hope this helps a little. These really are cracking cars when driving right. I've had more than my fair share of probs with mine but what can I say, I blooming love this car!! :)
  15. Yeah irridiums can last up to 100k but that's not saying they will. My friends IS was on 130k and the plugs we removed had to be factory fitted... They looked old and very tired!!
  16. I agree with Noby. That's a lot of hassle. Just sell yours and get an auto.
  17. You must use iridium. Denso SK20's are oem. NGK iridium are good, I have them in my car :)
  18. He just said he ran a diagnostic and no fault codes^
  19. Right well check the basics... Fuel, spark and air. Take your Airbox apart and clean it. When we're the spark plugs last changed? Long time or don't know then change them. And finally put a some decent petrol (not supermarket and maybe 97 or 99 ron) and maybe that bg44k stuff and see if that helps. My money tho if I was a betting man would be spark plugs. Just had a friend who had lumpy idle and a hesitation under acceleration as you're describing in his IS200. Changed the plugs and it's back to normal. He also had no fault codes or lights on
  20. Yes^ The coolant will appear fuller when the car is hot. Mine sits 3/4 the way up the glass on the expansion tank when cold and bang on the full mark when hot.
  21. Hi. Sounds to me like the Toyota dealer is talking out if their backside. Of course they can do diagnostics and reset the ecu. Flaming heck I can do that on my driveway!! You need an obd2 code reader and the plug in point is inside the car, drivers side, near the bonnet release. Do you have any warning lights? Chances are if no lights on then no fault codes stored but this isn't always the case.
  22. Yes they'll go on... No difference in the cars except the actual size of the wheel. 16's would be best for winter
  23. You saw your car being driven at speed when it was supposed to be at the dealership getting a repair? WOW!! I'd take that as far as you can. Keep on at Lexus UK... Think somebody at the dealership may be for the chop!!
