  1. I think they do, they just don't admit it or give the information out. On my 200 I had the cambelt done at Lexus Swindon but got it serviced at Lexus Bristol. When I first went into Lexus Bristol (a month after having the cambelt done over in Swindon) and we discussed upcoming maintenance items the service manager said "I see the cambelt was done last month" how would he have known that if it wasn't on a computer screen in front if him?
  2. Ahh I see your predicament. Not as though you can just drive into your local dealer and say "I need that bit" What about taking some photos of the cracked bit and posting them on this thread, might get some more luck that way as maybe somebody will know what part it is. Hope somebody can be more helpful. Have a great Christmas :hohoho: I'm in Birkirkarra by the way but my wife loves Sliema, we spend a lot of time there... Shopping, restaurants etc. If I see a 220d in Sliema I'll be sure to come over and say hello :)
  3. Is it just the rubber around the windshield that's cracked? I couldn't get this for my sunroof without actually buying the glass also. Why don't you call a Lexus dealer here in the UK. Explain what part you need, they can then give you the part number, then you can go to the Toyota dealer on Malta and order it. Or even order it via Lexus in the UK, they'll post it to Malta. Incidentally where do you live on Malta? I spend a lot if my time there (here, I'm here for Christmas) as my wife is Maltese and I see very few Lexus. Can only recall seeing one silver 220d, not yours was it? Lol....
  4. Just buy anything made back in the day by British Leyland, Rover, Austin etc.... Doors just fall off those ;)
  5. This is what frustrates me with modern cars. They got all this fancy techno wizardry such as self levelling air suspension, self levelling headlights, button for this, button for that.... To me it's just more things to go wrong as the car ages. For example I'm dreading my self leveling headlight sensors going as they all do eventually.... Looked it up, I have 2 sensors each cost £450 to replace!!
  6. Yeah granted the 300zx was a bit special, Japanese import and it was so so quick! I don't ever remember being out accelerated in that car I got out accelerated by a Renault Megane Sport yesterday, that disappointed me. The IS300 just feels a bit big and clumsy which is strange as I know it's the same shell as my old 200 but to me it honestly feels like a much bigger car. I think I was expecting the acceleration to be a little better that's all. And yeah most of the American lads on the forums etc say the 300 is a slow car in stock form and by their standards they're right.
  7. That's great news :) But unfortunately the stories aren't just scary stories.... Many have had to have new engines :(
  8. The reason people exaggerate Pete is because it makes them feel better and they think they are impressing others lol... I totally agree, the 300 isn't a fast car. Faster than the 200 yes and probably fast by general UK standards but it's nothing compared to my old 300zx twin turbo I also find it quite sluggish even with the Ect power thingy on (to be honest all I can see that do is turn on a nice little green light on my dash)
  9. Yes, as far as I can determine it's exactly the same car with the exception of the steering wheel on the wrong side
  10. Well they say there's no difference between the manual and auto in terms of top speed (the Americans that is) Official top speed of an IS300 is 145mph that I can find online anyway. I think a lot of these guys are exaggerating a little. I know for a fact my IS300 will not do 150mph! And it's just had new plugs, oil, air filter etc
  11. Since owning the 300 I've joined a few American IS300 owners pages on Facebook and a couple of US IS300 forums as there's much more information on the 300 across the pond as they sold so many more there. The one thing that keeps coming up is the top speed of a stock IS300. I believe this to be about 140-145mph. I've done a top speed run in mine (private road of course) and got it showing just over 140mph. Taking into consideration the speedo over reading, I'm guessing I'm doing 135mph ish. Now nearly every single American I've spoke to swears that their car will do 150mph+.... Some even claiming 160mph stock!! I really don't believe this.. I mean, it's the same car right? The Americans didn't get a quicker 300 did they?
  12. Somebody from LOC (staff) would have to book a stand. You need minimum of 10 cars to have a stand.
  13. My commute to work in my 200 manual cost me £35 per week, in the 300 is costing me £60 and that's driving as sensibly as I can, 70mph on the motorway. :(
  14. And how are you working out mpg Noby? There's no chance 35mpg is achievable from an IS300.... Barely achievable in an IS200!!!
  15. Just to pick up on the headlight seal issue quite a few comments back... According to the paperwork I got with the car....My IS300 has had 3 sets of headlights replaced under warranty by Lexus due to condensation within the first couple years of it's life and had the HID ballasts replaced also under warranty. So it's not just Audi's that have poor build quality in some areas. Lexus are not perfect Noby ;)
  16. In that case I'd go for the second type inside the headlamp. But what I'd probably do is remember to turn my lights on when I got in the car ;)
  17. I'll be going as I do every year but not with LOC as they haven't had a stand for a few years now :(
  18. I wouldn't buy that. No description, no mention of history etc and as Pete says may need some work doing. Looks a bit like someone trying to get rid quick. I may be wrong but that's what I think lol... The plat ice one for £1645 looked a much better car and you'd prob get it for £1500 if you bargained hard enough. I'd be tempted by that car if I was looking to buy providing the cambelt had been done, properly, with the paperwork to prove. Don't rush in is my advice. Plenty of well maintained under 100k miles out there. Check service history, look for a car that's obviously been looked after and maintained and cared for. it's a buyers market with these now, they are getting very cheap. Anyway, welcome to the club and I'm sure you'll find the right car if you're patient :) Also, I quite like the micra :zee:
  19. I had the same Steve with a hire car Don't like how the dash is always lit up in modern cars!
  20. Since the introduction of DRL's a few years ago I've found more and more people in cars that are not equipped with DRL's drive around with their side lights and fog lights on as a substitute! Drives me crazy as well!!
