  1. Need the codes mate. Otherwise it's guesswork. Sounds like an 02 sensor if fuel/air mixture but really need the codes
  2. They're like any car, find a well maintained one you won't have a problem. Buy a lemon that's been thrashed, you're gonna have probs I had an awful time with BMW but then it put that down to me buying a bad one. It wouldn't put me off getting another Beemer but I'd prob go for a 5 series
  3. What I meant was that maybe the bulb holder isn't sitting right or something so the car thinks there's no bulb? Or yeah, I think it might have something to do with your suggestion of using the wrong type of bulb.
  4. All the best mate. That's good news :) Good luck with the interview!
  5. Silly boy indeed for drifting his car and trying to race you on public roads. Don't tar us all with the same brush tho fella. Some of us who modify IS200's are not all 'boy racers' I modified my 200 before I got my 300 and it was far from fcuked. In fact I'd wager my 200 was one of the most meticulously maintained 2001 IS200's out there. That car wanted for nothing. The person you described is in the minority among the modified IS scene. Most modified IS owners are like me. We do our cars up, nice alloys, exhaust etc and we take pride in our cars and enjoy going to meets, events and showing them off. Modifying a car is not ruining it, people like to put their own mark on a car. :)
  6. Brand names don't mean a lot mate^ For example people say not to use halfords own brand oil. Now I'm pretty sure halfords do not have their own oil refinery. So by going on the number/letter codes on the bottle the oil can be traced back to a major company such as Mobil or shell etc.... The point is it's far more important to look at the grade if oil and the spec that it meets rather than relying on brand names or lack of :)
  7. That's prob your problem, it's not fitted back the way it was. I know it's a pain to change, I did mine and it took ages for me to get it back in the way it was. The only other reasons this light comes on is The handbrake is on (obv not) Low brake fluid (doubt this as well but worth checking)
  8. My 300 on 77,000 miles and full history and it's a minter is only worth £2k-£2500
  9. No Pete, they'll never sell for £2k unless they sell it to somebody who knows nothing. Dreamers I believe is the phrase. IS200's at 100k or over are worth £1k -£1500
  10. I think that some modern systems which have specific add on parts to prevent valve damage may be fine now but I think those kits/installations are more expensive. The older LPG kits for the IS200 certainly used to burn up the valves...
  11. I've heard it's very bad for the IS200. It's great on the LS400 as mike says but apparently (and I've heard this from various sources including 2 friends of mine, one if which is a Toyota tech and one is a tech at Lexus) it can and will kill a 1gfe. Something to do with burning valves? I can get more info if you want but the general consensus everywhere I did a bit of research on this was to stay clear of LPG on the 1gfe engine
  12. Yes me, exactly the same. I don't think it's the battery. Sounds like you need to code the key back to the car using the 'door dance' If it were me if put a new battery in the fob (this won't do any harm, or change anything honestly) and then if that doesn't work I'd do the door dance Your key is a working master key, contrary to the fact it doesn't work to open the doors. :)
  13. Ahh mate I feel awful reading this. :( I never had a sound like that when it was my car... The drivers side ball joint was done at Lexus Bristol less than a year ago as you know, I think you can rule that out. I've got no idea mate, the Lexus service sheet from November gave the suspension the all clear so I'm surprised to be reading this! Hope you get to the bottom of it mate.
  14. Just add it to the collection fellas ;) I love those wheels and I'm looking for something as a 'project' Was thinking about a supra or 300zx but why not a lex? :)
  15. Rear bushes I've been advised on in the past and are fail able but not from lower control bushes. Look at my thread from a while back http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/81690-completly-bushed/?fromsearch=1 The state of those bushes! They'd been through more than 1 MOT that's for sure and even Lexus didn't pick up on them or ignored them when they had the car twice!!
  16. That is cheap, might look at these for my 300. The lower control arm bushes are not part of the MOT so you can't fail on them and most won't even put on advisory. It's because even when they are completely perished they don't make the car unsafe to drive, they just make it a pig to drive My 200 lower control arm bushes were completely shot to pieces and I didn't even know until I took it to WIM and they told me.
  17. I'm a freelance chef. I work in restaurants and hotels (normally higher end of the market, Michelin restaurants and 4/5 star hotels). I've been in the industry since 1995 and worked at every level from pot wash to executive head chef. I also work from home writing, planning and costing menu's, doing cleaning rota's, hygiene legislation and all the other stuff head chefs are meant to do but don't have time for.... :)
  18. Just seen this thread. Janey is right this was pranged pretty bad. It's come up a few times on Facebook and other forums in the past year and quite a few people know it and always say less than complimentary things about it. That's all I know and not my opinion ;)
  19. It was lower front ball joints. It's common for them develop play and most IS200/300's need them replaced anywhere from 70k upwards. Lower ball joints are pretty cheap, £100 per side fitted at Lexus, WIM will be a few quid cheaper but make sure they use OEM which I'm sure they would anyway. Ball joints might not be your problem tho, just one of many things to check.
  20. Where did you get the CAT? That's actually a pretty good price
  21. This thread helped me. http://m.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=616815&styleid=13 Take your time and read the thread in it's entirety. I had huge wobble problems on my old 200. Had the car WIM'd, new tyres, new alloys, new lower ball joints, new lower front control arm bushes, new callipers, discs, pads..... I could not get rid of the wheel wobble completely. In the end, new ball joints and geo at WIM got it sorted. I learnt that it's prob not one thing causing your wobble it's a combination of factors. For example with mine it was slightly buckled rims, worn ball joints and geometry out. Those things on their own May not cause a wobble but a combination of all 3 and bang, steering wheel wobble. Oh and Lexus were pretty useless at diagnosing my wobble and it's as tho they don't really have time for it. My advice is get in touch with WIM again. Explain your problem in detail and tell them you want to get to the bottom of it regardless of time etc.... They were great with me, trying different things, sending me on a test drive, not happy come back and they tried something different etc.... Good luck, I know how frustrating that wobble can be. All I'll say us your lucky it's at 75/80mph, mine was at 60-70mph so right in every day driving sweet spot on the motorway
