Welcome :)

Sorry if I came across a bit of a nob head mate, had a few last night
Yeah they won't do a full geometry to the standards they will down in WIM simply because they don't have the technology, know how or expertise.
I'm sure the machines are hunter but not the one Tony has and if they do have the same machine them they are not using it properly or to it's full potential. As I said I watched him do it and no laser detectors put on the wheels, he had no idea what I was talking about when it came to angles. All he did was adjust the toe (tracking) no correlation between camber, caster and he had no idea what the SAI angle was and when I asked for a print out if the angles before and after he said "how can I do that"
Well if he was using a hunter hawk eye system properly (and this wasn't a hawk eye, no way) then the machine would take the image of how the car is set up (using the lasers) and then he is meant to adjust to within specs using the laser read out in the computer screen. But it looked like he was just straightening up the front wheels by adjusting the toe, but a proper alignment isn't done just on the front wheels, the back are just as important if not more so.

Sport had tints as standard and the rear quarter panels/glass said "sport" on them.

Yeah mate Tezzas and 300's are rare, only a few hundred if each on Britains roads that's why I took that pic of the 3 of them in a row... Rare sight lol :)
-
Anyway the point is the only way to rectify the inner wear on an IS200/300 is to have good lower control arm bushes and a 4 wheel laser alignment done either by WIM or to WIM's specifications at one of their black boot branches.
-
Well the tracking I had done at kwik fit was shocking and when up on the ramps they didn't put on any laser reading devices onto the 4 wheels so how could they measure the angles? No print out if my alignment showing before and after angles and how they were calculated. I've been into kwik fit about this. You do not offer this service and the baffled looks I recieve when I go into a branch of kwik fit and ask about geometry confirms this.
I'll stand by the fact that no kwik fit in the country has a hunter hawk eye 811 pro laser alignment system that Tony down at WIM has.
-
And they certainly won't be using Tony's WIM settings.
-
Kwik fit do not have 4 wheel laser alighnment machines. They have basic tracking machines.
A full geometry/alignment on a 4 wheel laser alignment system which calculates your toe angle, caster angle and camber angles and SAI index will cost you over £100 and kwik fit do not offer this service mate.
Those hunter machines are serious £££££'s to buy and are more rare than common in this country.
You won't notice the inner tyre wear if your bushes are good for at least 10,000 miles maybe more

That's the only pics I have of the Tezza on the right. My 300 on the left and my mates 300 sportscross who also owns the Tezza.
RS Tezza is 220bhp not 300bhp mate and is a 4 pot Yamaha tuned beams engine N/A. It was only available in Japan. There's an AS altezza also but that had the same 1 GFE engine as a Lexus IS200 so is considerably slower.

In a nutshell....
In my opinion lexus never put as much effort and attention to detail into any other model that they have made since the LS with exception of the LFA.

A brand new car can suffer a cracked windscreen at any time, it's just bad luck.
Hope you get it sorted fella and should be free if fully comp insurance?
-
Look forward to seeing your car Lee..... I'm also attending with another club although I won't be in my IS300, I'm taking my mates RS Altezza

Thanks guys, yeah I've been all over My.IS.
It is a really common problem on the 300 apparently. No it's not too much to be worried about it just annoys me.
So the advice I've received from the guys in the states is....
It's a massive cooling system, 1 guy took 3 and half hours to burp his
Get it on a steep hill or ramp so the front of the car is higher than 45 degrees
And be extremely patient
Guess I'll be having a fun Friday evening tonight lol :)

Think he means even when the car is warm, the heaters don't work unless you drive the car for 5 mins
-
They got a manual IS300 tho mate.... I'd swap my heated leather seats for cloth seats and a manual any day.... :)

Is it because it doesn't make a noise? I thought the same when I first got an IS

Hey guys,
Anybody able to advise on this. I had the infamous gurgling/sloshing water sound on start up from behind the dash.
So I burped the system, I've now done it 3 times.
Raise front of car, rad cap off, heaters on hot and set to maximum and start the car. Let it go through a few cycles of Fans on/off and topping up coolant as the air escapes the top of the rad. When bubbles stop appearing, on with the rad cap.
The last time I did this procedure a week ago it took me 2 hours and all has been fine since. But today the gurgling returned
Now before people shout Head Gasket.... It's not.
Coolant and oil not mixing
No excessive exhaust smoke
No sweet coolant smell from exhaust or heaters
No loss of coolant
No coolant is spark plug chambers
All heaters work perfectly
Car has never overheated in my ownership
Car is smooth and idles perfectly.
Sniff test done about 5 weeks ago, no combustion gases in the coolant.
So.... Anybody had this problem before? Can't get rid of all the air in the system? It's driving me crazy now! Lol..
-
Oh yeah no headlamp washers, no rear fog lights, their boot lights work as tail/brake lights.
Yeah I've seen pics of a few with cloth seats Pete lol.....
-
Or your radiator may be knackered, even a bad rad cap could cause this..... Could be a number of things mate
-
Check your coolant level first. The heaters work buy the warm/hot coolant flowing through your heater matrix, no coolant = no heat.
If ok then you could have air trapped in the system or a blockage that clears once the car has been driven or your heater matrix may be on the way out
-
Yes, if Lexus do it then your tyres will continue to wear on the inside edge. The other factor that causes severe inner wear such as yours is the lower control arm bushes (caster bushes)
The rubber perishes and the bush is useless. For me on my 200 to solve the inner tyre wear I had to replace these bushes and get an alignment done by WIM

Talking to a lot of American guys recently and the 300 in the states, seat heaters were an optional extra. They came mostly fully loaded as ours did minus the seat heaters and some even came with cloth seats!!
-
As far as I'm aware I only know of two boosted 2jz in an IS in UK and they are not in this forum....They are both 300's and both supercharged on standard IS 2jz internals I believe...(Won't take more than 300/350bhp) So what you're aiming for (big bhp, I'm guessing more than 300) isn't very common here.
In America, boosted 300's are very common so you might be better off seeking advice on the US forums. My.IS etc...
I know since I've had the 300 I've been using the US forums more and more as there's a hell of a lot more knowledge over the pond on a 2jz-gte IS.

I had a Toyota hilux when I lived in SA.... I think I used the seat heaters on that maybe once

Dual mass flywheel I bet. I'd start there.
