  1. Hi Guys, So we picked up the wife's IS200 SE nearly 3 years ago now with 110k on the clock. We only paid a grand for it and it had just been fully serviced at an independent and It needed all new brakes..... discs, pads and 2 callipers so got that sorted. Our plan was to drive it until it went bang then pick something else up for a grand! Sort of disposable motoring! :) The thing is its now done 153k and is still as reliable as ever. No sign of breaking or failing to start, never had a warning light come on ( and yes the bulbs are in the dash) I did change the oil and oil filter but that is literally all we've spent on it maintenance wise in the last 3 years. It also needs 4 new tyres. It passed its MOT 4 months ago with a few advisories, nothing I can't sort myself tho. Do you guys think it's worth spending the £300 for a full service, £200 for air con service as it stinks rotten lol.... and £400+ for new tyres or get rid of it and get something with less mileage? I'm just in two minds as the car did 40k without any attention or maintenance and the service bill with tyres and air con will be the same as buying something new? Thanks Chris
  2. My £500 quote must have been fitted. I didn't ask. That was from Lexus Swindon. I don't need the grill tho just the lower part of the bumper.... 500 notes too steep for me! Lol :)
  3. My mate just picked up 4 remould tyres for his IS for £180. He seems very happy with them but my question is this. Would anybody here put remoulded tyres on their car? I know that remoulds are subjected to the same load and speed tests as brand new tyres but I just couldn't put them on my car personally. I don't trust them! I'd always be waiting for them to fail! Anybody else use remoulds and had good or bad experiences with them? Thanks Chris
  4. I've heard of lots of people getting their teeth done in eastern Europe as its half the price and dentistry standards are claimed to be higher than the UK but never heard of Turkey. I don't see why their dentistry standards shouldn't be up to the rest of Europe so if it's a lot cheaper go for it :) I had 2 root canals done in Malta as it was the price of having 1 done here privately and we were going there on holiday. Did a great job, 4 years on no trouble.
  5. Yeah You'll do well to find one with tte kit. I watched autotrader, piston heads etc, for over a year for IS200's until mine came up! I was first caller, online as the ad went up so he sold to me. Said he'd had over 10 calls in just the first hour the ad went up so they are well sought after! Well I'm not ever selling mine. Gonna run it till it dies. I want to see if I can beat the mileage of my old Primera EGTE. 187k miles when the engine seized. The Lex is on 91k, just had full service and cambelt change and passed MOT no advisories.....it's in good shape so heres counting!
  6. and you will decelerate. If you hook up an OBDII reader at the same time you will notice the throttle closes. All that snow mode does in the IS is make the throttle response less, you need to press the pedal down more to achieve the same throttle opening. Snow mode has no affect on economy if you compensate for the different throttle mapping. I'm sure you are correct as I wouldn't have a clue. I asked on another thread if it affected mpg and the resounding answer was no. Its just fun to watch the needle drop to 60mpg albeit only for a short while. I think people have done that and come to the conclusion their getting better mpg by pressing the snow button.
  7. Still not seen another that looks like mine on the road. People still ask where i got the kit and are surprised when i tell them its factory standard! :) There's a lad that works near me with a 200 and he's made a complete mess of it. Got some hideous aftermarket kit with a massive boot spoiler on it and black 3 spoke black alloys... It's also lowered so far the wheels tuck up the arch, looks like it's broken haha..... Oh dear! Lol... :)
  8. Love that colour.... Aztec fire I think they call it. Only ever seen one on the road in this colour, I think it's the rarest but don't quote me on that :)
  9. Try this... Sit at 40mph in 4th or 5th. Don't let off the throttle then push the snow button. Watch what the mpg needle does.... :)
  10. Lol fair enough, so if anybody has or knows of 2 bumpers..... I'd never seen one with this kit on and wheels before I saw mine. I bought it straight away, I think it looks the best an IS can look :)
  11. This is what mine looks like exactly! I need a new front lower bumper where the number plate is after hitting a hedgehog or some other small creature at 90mph has dented all the mesh and smashed the number plate! Lexus want £500 so if anybody knows where I can get one in platinum ice I'd be very gratefull! Sorry for hijacking the thread.... Chris
  12. Hi and welcome. 90k is a good mileage for IS200. Same as mine. You can expect another 100k+ if you maintain it well :) My wife's IS is up over 150k and to be honest drives slightly smoother than mine!!
  13. Yours is normal. Mine sits just under half and gets there in less than 2 miles. Tyre pressures for mine are 36psi on 225/18's. Your tyre pressures will be on the inside of your drivers door frame.
  14. Hi guys. Went to the beach today, parked the car up all day in a public car park. Came back 7 hours later to find some git had nicked my locking wheel nut covers. Wondering if anybody had some spare they want to sell or could somebody point me in the right place to get them apart from Lexus. I have 18" Aero alloys if that makes any difference. Thanks Chris
  15. I wanted to ask the same. A monkey snapped mine off at longleat leaving the screw bit in! Big job to replace everything??
  16. Oh and they don't take short cuts. They tell you exactly what's included and what's not in the service so you can compare. They tell you it doesn't include brake fluid and charged me £40 to add that on.
  17. Jem are brilliant. I get mine done there. Paid £400 for full service, air con service and re charge, spark plugs and 3 auxiliary belts. Lexus were £700 for the same job! :)
  18. I don't think the light comes on for a clutch! My mates clutch went on his IS200 and the first he knew about it was when it wouldn't work! so I think you have another problem. You'll have to get a diagnostic done to get the codes. Until then it's just pure guess work! Good luck Chris
  19. I've de badged mine. I took the IS200 off and the middle Lexus badge then moved the "Lexus" into the middle! Looks great! :)
  20. Yeah I had them on my old Honda! I still flick the indicators on my IS expecting them to flash 3 times lol...
