  1. I also have an app on my phone to track MPG. I'm averaging 28 in my IS200 Sport. It's a manual tho :)
  2. Ridgers what car did you buy after selling your 300? Nice photos by the way :)
  3. Only way to test is to get a new bulb. See if it works when fitted. If not your def dealing with a loose connection so a trip to the auto electricians! Can't believe you only paid £1400! What mileage is it on?
  4. Hi. Nice IS. That looks a factory fitted TRD kit? Love the wheels in black :)
  5. This is also what they told my brother in law and it's the only reason he still gets his 220d serviced at Lexus. It would appear to be a loop hole for them!
  6. I wouldn't accept that! Obviously it's not normal. You know your car better than anybody and how it behaves. You drive it every day!
  7. To be fair if you've never changed a belt or ever been shown then do not attempt yourself especially the Cambelt! For the price, get the 3 drive belts fitted from Lexus! I'd also advise that you get Lexus to do the cambelt. For £50 more than an independent it's gotta be worth it!
  8. I've had two quotes from them, a Honda Accord Tourer and an MX5. The Honda was a good price, which I accepted with no problems at all - I got £200 less than I'd paid two years previously to an ebay trader. The MX5 was a rubbish price, so I'd say give them a try, you won't lose anything. Fair enough, sometimes they come with a good price then! It's just I had a quote of them for my old 08 plate Honda Accord. I sold it for £2900 more than they offered me in the end!
  9. Have you driven a Kia? Electric windows and A/C do not make a luxury car. For me it's the drive and ride quality and I'll tell you my 11 year old IS200 is smoother, quieter and more refined than my next door neighbours 62 plate Kia! :)
  10. The brake discs look a good buy. Bit pricey but I'd buy them. As for your shocks just because it's leaking doesn't mean it's gone yet. I had 4 leaky shocks for 4 years, they still worked fine. Do the 'bounce test' on that corner of your car. Also you'll know when a shock is totally out on a Lexus. The ride will become quite bumpy and uncomfortable. A leaking shock absorber is a pass and advise on an MOT as well as long as its still working :)
  11. We buy any car will give you £3-4k under what you expect :( And yeah I think you've priced it too high for a quick sale.
  12. Good for you mate. I know if that were my car I'd try and get Lexus to pay the lot... As you say known design fault and your under 7 years and 140k. Just be careful because if you stop payments for your car, then they'll come and repossess it. Happened to me when I was younger and bought a car I couldn't afford!
  13. I got the kit from eBay. It was a bit more expensive than the one you bought. It was £59.99. I can't put a link up at the mo as I do everything on my iPhone and I bought the kit using the eBay app. I'll try when I get to work. If you type in Lexus IS200 HID kit 9006R then it's the first result. As for the washers I'm not gonna bother. Seems a hassle. I don't have the button on the inside either to operate the washers. Where it should be is just covered with a bit of plastic.
  14. Agreed. Aircon reduces humidity (cold air can't hold moisture). You may have introduced moisture into the car with a wet coat or umbrella, or a door seal may be failing (common as a car ages). Alternatively, your aircon may need regassing. See I knew I'd be wrong! Lol.. Gotta stop listening to blokes down the pub. Anyway the dehumidifier still works to get rid of the moisture and mine never mists up anymore :)
  15. Oh and I have the 9006R type bulbs. They appear to be brilliant white in the daylight, no sign of a blue tint :)
  16. Well mine are fitted now and they look great (in the daylight) Can't wait to try them out tonight! Also I know a bloke from the pub who is an MOT tester. He said last night that they should be fine as long as I have the headlamp washer jets. I don't see what difference that makes but I don't have them on mine as I have the TTE bumper. They were fitted to TTE bumpers after 2002, i think they came with Xenons as standard then, not sure but mines 2001. Oh well I'll go back standard for the MOT :)
  17. I had that. Turned out to be a brake bulb gone :)
  18. Hi. Yes the head gasket problems are with all the 220d as is the EGR valve problems and notchy gears etc... Honestly it's not exactly the best diesel ever made and there's a reason why Lexus no longer offer a diesel in their range, their not very good at making them! The IS220d was Lexus first attempt at a diesel and im pretty sure it will be their last. Go for the IS250 Auto SE or SEL petrol. Yes the fuel consumption isn't as good but it's just a much better car. Lexus petrol engines if properly maintained will go on forever! :) Saying that my brother in law owns a 57 plate 220d and he loves it. I've driven it a few times and it is a nice car to drive. Problem is he says he's just waiting for the day the head gasket blows and lives in constant fear. Hes also had a few recall issues with it such as the rattling dashboard and vibrating rear view mirror which lexus fixed for free under warranty.
  19. Well all I know is I had the exact same problem, I use the A/C all the time. I have absolutely no leaks, everywhere in the car is bone dry. I use the dehumidifier once or twice a month and the problem no longer exists :)
  20. If you give your cabin a blast of icy air in the summer then that will create a lot of moisture I would have thought. As for the de humidifier, it doesn't need to plug into your car at all. You charge it up in your house then put it in your car overnight. Then empty it in the morning. I was amazed how much water was in there :) the 1 I have is 1500ml but they do smaller.
  21. Hi fella, I just did a complete overhaul ony IS200. I put a K and N air filter on mine, meant to last for 100k+ I also used the same oil as Noby but that was a fluke not because i knew it was the best, lol... and i bought the oil filter from Lexus but can't remember how much it was, cheap anyway. You have the best plugs in my opinion. I also did the brake fluid and got that from Lexus too. They say that the power steering fluid never has to be changed but that's for you to decide. I've just got the diff oil left to do so don't know how much that is yet. I've noticed a much better mpg since doing all that, got 360 miles from my last tank, getting 300 before and it's smoother than I thought possible from a 11 year old car. Check your drive belts also, there's 3 at the front of your engine. Their only £32 for the three from Lexus and £60 fitted if you don't like doing belts. Worth it as a snapped belt can cause untold damage! Also if the cambelt hasn't been changed even if your car is under 60k change it as your car is 10 years old. £300 fitted from Lexus i paid, I found that was only £50 more than independent garages. :)
  22. Condensation. If you use the A/C a lot then there will be moisture inside your car. Warm sun on the car creates the condensation as the moisture is trying to escape (evaporation) but can't get into the atmosphere as your car is water tight so settles on the inside of the glass. This always happens to my car in the autumn/winter. This is what I was told when I asked the same question so I'm not saying this is 100% fact but it made sense to me lol :) You can get a de humidifier from caravan dealerships, halfords or on eBay to remove the moisture from your car, it worked wonders for me.
  23. As I understand it, and I am by no means saying I'm right, but you don't have a full Lexus service history so Lexus don't have to pay the bill in its entirety do it would appear that they are doing their best for you. Also you still haven't told us WHAT MILEAGE DOES YOUR CAR HAVE? Because if it's over 140,000 then Lexus don't have to come good on the warranty. Also yes the heaters not working on your car are one of the 1st symptoms of a head gasket failure.
  24. There's nothing wrong with using non genuine Lexus/Toyota discs and pads as long as you use a decent make and Ferodo are a decent make. None of my discs or pads are genuine, I got Mintex all round on my IS and I've used ferodo on my old Primera. Lexus just trying to make some money out of you. Also discs and pads don't get changed on a service unless required upon inspection and then at the extra cost you quoted. I've never used a main dealer for discs and pads, you can get them at half that price on eBay, then if your not good at things mechanical get a local garage to fit them for you, most garages £60-£80 per hour for labour. It's only an hour - an hour and half job. I bet you can get new pads, discs and fitted all round for under £350 :)
  25. Doesn't matter that your not the original owner. My brother in law is the second owner of his 220d and he's had a few jobs done under recall and warranty such as the rattling dash board and shaking rear view mirror. You need the service history perfect is what he tells me :)
