  1. Did your MPG improve? That's the only reason I use high octane. My drive to work is mostly A and B roads and from normal 95 Unleaded I get about 300 miles a tank, from 97 or 99 I get close to 400, 388 from the last tank. So I think that's beneficial even if it is £1.44 a litre :)
  2. Yeah I'd prob get it done as well to be fair. Peace of mind and all that.... :) Lots of contradiction on mileage/time to change the cambelt. As you can see my book says 100k but doesn't state time so I'd agree with scudney and go with 6 years as that's the recomendation for the auxiliary belts. Lexus Swindon did also say 60k when mine was on 87k and advised me to change it but they stated 10 years so who knows.
  3. Do you not have the service book? All service intervals are in there with what needs doing on each service. Basically big services are 20k and interim are 10k. Auxiliary belts are 60k or 6 years, air filter 30k or 4 years etc... Here's my service book
  4. Hello and welcome to LOC Common issue mate with the CD player. Hardly any of the CD players on a first generation IS work nowadays. I think I'm one of few who still have a completely problem free system :) What I've learnt from this forum and others is that the damage is done by loading the CD before the lights go green or putting copied discs into it. There's no cure as far as I know sorry :( And second hand ones in perfect working order sell for stupid money!!
  5. Totally agree with everything Matt had said. Don't give Tony's specs away please and I really wouldn't bother setting your car up to Lexus settings. My front drivers side tyre was still 3.5mm on the centre and outside but 1.9mm on the inner tyre. Quite noticeable just by looking. If you need your geometry doing then go to WIM or find a local garage to you that has the WIM settings and the know how and equipment to do the job properly. This isn't something your local kwik fit monkey can do for you ;)
  6. Oh right Stav. Im confused now, so how do you change a battery then? Lexus swapped mine over for me so never done it. I just disconnect the negative when I'm going away, gives off those beeps and that's it
  7. No that won't set the alarm off as long as the car is unlocked. You get about 5 beeps from inside the car when you disconnect it. Just lock each door manually then lock the drivers door with the key once your disconnected. I always disconnect mine when going on holiday or leaving it stand for more than 3 days :)
  8. Because of the mileage £1.5k to £2.5k that's what their going for on Autotrader etc...
  9. Why don't other makes of car suffer from it then? The salt and chemicals used on UK roads didn't do any damage in 5 years to my Honda wheels or in 2 years to my BMW wheels? There something with Lexus alloys and UK gritting procedures that cause Lexus wheels to deteriorate! It must have something to si with the alloy compound Lexus use in their wheels.
  10. I noticed the other night that when I unlocked my car the interior light didn't come on or the ignition barrel light. Everything else worked fine and it's not done it since! Maybe it's a quirk of the IS lol :)
  11. Don't put 19's on an IS. You'll regret it. 18's max! You'll suffer with scraping wheel arches, uncomfortable ride and loads of road noise in the cabin!
  12. I noticed you are a "Non UK/Other" member, may I ask if salt is used on your roads in winter as this is a major contributor to wheel damage in the UK. Hi Steve, I'm currently in Bulgaria, but the first four winters the car was driven mostly in Slovenia and Austria. On all three places they are using salt, sand and chemicals (depending on the temperature and the icing). And all those countries have much more snow in the winter than UK (except some highlands). It's to do with the type of salt we use here in the UK so im told.
  13. I thought this also.. Is your quote from Lexus? Sounds like you might be taken for a ride..... Hmmmm If your oxygen sensor was faulty then your engine managment light would be on
  14. Try unplugging your battery overnight tonight. That way your sure to have it re set by the morning. If that doesn't fix your problems I suggest you then go to see an auto electrician.
  15. If your memory on the stereo is still there then no the ECU didn't reset. How long did you disconnect the battery and fuses for? I found 3 hours to not be long enough when I did it so I unplugged it all night and that worked :)
  16. That is incredibly expensive..... But Yes you need your oxygen sensor. It controls the air to fuel mixture for the combustion in your engine so if no oxygen sensor then the ECU doesn't know how much fuel to put in so your MPG will suffer big time or your car will cut out. Also it'll make your engine managment warning light come on :(
  17. Hello and welcome. I also looked this up when I first got the car. The general consensus amongst IS owners on this forum I found was that the standard OEM filter is the best. Some say an induction kit makes the car sound better but doesn't improve performance. I went with standard, Lexus thought about the breathing of the car so you wouldn't have to make it better :) Unless you supercharge it ;)
  18. The never ending thread..... Lol :) Guys just agree to disagree :) :)
  19. No probs. This thread just stuck in my head cos I'd never heard of a car going completely dead like that before...
  20. The only tricky back lights to change are the number plate bulbs and parcel shelf brake light. Still not that hard tho... :)
  21. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=77960&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 This thread might help. It was a bad earth connection apparently.
  22. Lol under the boot, like 99% of all cars :)
  23. im afraid not sorry, you'll get one on eBay won't you? Rare as rocking horse sh#% :)
  24. I'd say that would cost the same as a brand new IS250 to repair or in that region anyway. Like Steve says, there's not gonna be any second hand panels, bonnets or bumpers around so all brand new parts. Front end is a complete mess, a lot of work needed :( Def CAT C....
  25. Lol I'm sorry I didn't mean to hate on your Audi, I'd had a few shandy's when I wrote that! :) I dont like Audi's that's all, just personal taste. I've never liked the design of them and all newer ones look the same. I can't tell the difference between an A1 and A3 from the front! However I'm sure it's a fantastic car and 450BHP is impressive I just don't think I could ever have one. :)
