  1. I would say you don't have to worry. Evaporation..... But I'm not an expert but I wouldn't worry unless mine was emptying itself of coolant every few days :)
  2. Yes but you had a key when they came and hooked up your car. No key, no reprogramming :( Honestly there is nothing anybody can do, not even Lexus, without a working master key :(
  3. Thanks Stav. Well I went to buy it and somebody beat me to it! So on the lookout for another good 1...
  4. That's just 4 I picked randomly. There's loads on this topic. :) Hope it helps and good luck, I think your gonna need it :(
  5. Yes you would have had 2 master keys and a 'valet' key from new. This topic has been covered many times, check these threads http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=45148&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=79085&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=71716&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=68507&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1
  6. Hi there. Sorry to hear about your situation. The problem you have is that a new master key can only be coded to your ECU using an existing master key. One of your keys that got stolen would have been a master. Don't get confused, there's not a magic master key out there that you can buy for the car and link to your ECU. That means that if you have no keys for the car then your only solution as I understand it is to have all your door locks changed, your ignition barrel changed and a new ECU. This is a dealer job and as you say costs 3000 EURO. It's £2000 in the UK. The only other possiable solution is maybe to find an IS200 in a scrap/breakers yard and get the ECU, locks and ignition barrel and keys and fit it all to your IS. Still a massive job but should be cheaper. Good luck.
  7. Call your Lexus dealer first. If your wheels are flaking due to corrosion then you should be entitled to brand new wheels under warranty or if not corroded you might be entitled to a refurb. Cant hurt to try. They will want to see the car and take photos to send to Lexus UK with their report and the decision will be made there. All depends how bad your wheels are in their opinion.
  8. If you replace do both sides. I only replaced the drivers side and then had a terriable brake imbalance! Well I still have imbalance actually. My car now pulls very hard to the right under heavy braking and even pulls a little to right under light braking. Its because the new calliper is much more effective than the 11 year old calliper on the passenger side. Only way to cure it is to replace the passenger side calliper as well. I have to get it don't before the next MOT.
  9. I found when driving my brother in laws 220d that I can get it in 6th at 70mph if the surface is flat or downhill. Any sort of incline or if you want to accelerate at all then you have to change down. I usually just forget about the 6th gear as does my brother in law and drive it like a 5 speed manual. If you drive along at 60mph in 5th gear it still says its returning 38-40 or so MPG. So yes it would appear to be a total waste of a gear! A real bad gear ratio design in my opinion as you can put my 1st generation IS into 6th at 35mph and it'll still pull with no hestitation or bogging down if you plant your foot :)
  10. I want this! :) I have my fav 6 albums in my CD changer at the mo, I would like more choice tho! I'll have to look into getting AUX input in my IS. My mate has done it on his 300 and says its dead easy. He has the iPod wire coming out into the glovebox to plug his iPod into. He has an aftermarket head unit but he assures me it can be done on the standard system :)
  11. Hi guys. How easy is it to swap the steering wheel over on an IS200? Mine is looking its age and is scratched and is looking a bit scruffy. I found a mint condition, two tone steering wheel from another IS200 Sport for £30 so was just wondering if it's an easy DIY job or is it a bit of a pain because of the air bag etc? Thanks, Chris.
  12. But how long has hybrid technology been out in Lexus? Less than 10 years, I think summer 2006? So surely the jury is out on weather they live up to the Lexus long life reliability. Sure their good so far but a 400h is at its oldest 6 and half years I think? Correct me if I'm wrong please. I mean we know for certain that LS400's are bulletproof as they've been on the roads and are still going strong since 1989. Likewise early GS's and 1st generation IS's have been around over 10 years and are regarded as some of the most reliable cars ever produced. Personally I don't think the same can be said about any Lexus Hybrid yet as we don't know how they fair as they get to the 10 year old mark and beyond. I can imagine some horrifying bills for say a 10 year old 400h that has had it hybrid technology fail! And does anybody know how long hybrid technology is supposed to last? I know that if I keep servicing my 11 year old IS then it can go on forever pretty much! And if anything major fails its still not going to be a bill of £1000's. I dread to think what a new hybrid system would cost £5k ? And if that repair was needed on a 10 year old 450h would it be worth it? Or would it be more than the cars worth?
  13. Could be the seals as it was with my boot or could be blocked sunroof drains... You'll have to find exactly where the water is coming from.
  14. I've read a few reports on there being interference from overhead electrical wires. Don't know how much truth there is in it. Were you parked near an electricity pylon?
  15. If it was a facelift 250 with the F-Sport styling then I'd have that but I think my 200 looks better than most 250's. I actually like the back end of the 250 especially with the twin exhaust but everybody is different. But the back of the 200 still looks better. And I have to agree with the 'bloated' comments :) If I was choosing between my 200 with the TTE styling kit and 18" wheels with 0 miles on the clock and a 250 SE-L ( which looks boring in my opinion) with 0 miles then I'd choose the 200 everytime :)
  16. Mine still works (although I only use the Grom attached to it, or the radio) and also plays CD-R's (in fact the only CDs I've ever played in it have been CD-R's!) Be careful Matt, lots of people reporting that CD-R's killed their system!
  17. Hi Bob and welcome. Your post made me chuckle :) There's nothing wrong with your car or your driving. 6th gear on the diesel is for illegal driving in the UK only! It's pretty much useless unless doing over 80mph.
  18. Hello and welcome to LOC :) Any pics?
  19. Oh and I use google chrome and IE9 if I'm at work but mostly on my iPhone and still get this message
  20. Yes Steve I've had this a few times. sometimes when I click back and the click on the forum it will work second time. But other times I have to close the browser down and re open everything for it to work.
  21. Yeah I did but not on my Lexus, on my Honda. Took it to the dealer who re coded all my keys for me. Don't know why they lost calibration, I didn't ask, I was in a rush and late for a funeral! :( They tried to charge me £60 a key tho.... Got them all done (3) for £60 after some strong words to the service manager.
