  1. Very nice fella. :) You'll have to clean it every day in this weather to keep it looking that clean!
  2. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=79850&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=79439&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=79141&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=78388&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=77811&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=76994&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=75516&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=70967&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 If you buy the diesel you need to be very aware of the possible trouble it will give you. You must buy one below 110k with a full lexus service history as if the head gasket does go, and it seems like a lucky dip if it will or not, then Lexus will repair free of charge We have one in the family and yes it's been a good car up to now, 50k but living in constant fear of the head gasket blowing! It's not a case of poor maintenance or driving style it's a design fault and Lexus have admitted that hence the extended 110k mile 7 year head gasket warranty :(
  3. I think its because, if the head does go they replace 3/4 of the engine rather then repair. Dont quote me on that though. I thought the same but I'm not sure. Also labour charge will be massive!!
  4. Well that's news to me. I did not know that this was an optional extra but after digging up some old threads it appears it was. :) I don't like the look of them to be honest tho
  5. Just do it online with a debit card. Hassle free and they post you the disc saving you a trip to the post office.
  6. Exactly! You really can get a lot of car for your money if your patient.
  7. Snap. First thing it did. Mine was on 87k no belt change. Why it wasnt done on the 60k service i dont know as it was done by Lexus! I booked it straight in the next morning, only £50 more than an independent plus I got a newspaper and as much free coffee as I wanted lol :)
  8. Mines been a bit lumpy and stiff the last couple of days also. It's completely fine after about a mile or so.
  9. At the risk of me sounding stupid here, by PDC your talking about parking sensors right? These aren't standard on the car and that beep your hear when selecting reverse is just to tell you your in reverse. Or has yours had sensors fitted aftermarket?
  10. Congrats Ray :) Very nice. Looks a good, clean car :) I have to admit I really wanted a blue one! I got every box ticked on mine except the colour. So I settled for my second favourite, silver (platinum ice)
  11. So that's why you might find it difficult to sell for 5k+ If buyers can get a Sport or SE with 80k on it for about 2.5-3k with a full service history.
  12. I can't quite tell exactly what's happened there? Has the number plate been screwed into the body of the car where it shouldn't? If so it looks as tho it's bubbling with rust already! I'd speak to the dealer where you got the car from about this.
  13. Here you go. Good old wiki! Lol... :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alloy_wheel
  14. The thing is nobody who knows about Lexus is put off by high mileage. If a car has a full service history, especially a full Lexus service history then mileage sort of becomes irrelevant. I woukdnt be put off any Lexus if its under say 120k with full service history. A lot of people say a Lexus engine is like a fine wine, it gets better with age :) I bet my 2001 IS200 with full Lexus service history on 93k miles drives as well as yours and is just as reliable etc :)
  15. Yours is 100% a Mk1 or first generation. Yours may not be an LE then but is still fully loaded as Lexus wanted to shift these last MK1's before launching the MK2 or second generation IS250 in 2006. IS200/300 are MK1/1st generation 1999-2005 IS200d/220d/250 are Mk2/2nd generation 2006-present Mk3/3rd generation launching next March so the rumours say :)
  16. I hate to disagree with people but that's not gonna prevent corrosion. It may slow it down but won't prevent it. Mine are cleaned 3-4 times a week and I spray the protective stuff on. My wheels are still getting worse. Slowly admittedly but still deteriorating! :(
  17. You may have low miles... 28k is the lowest I've seen for years on a mk1 IS. Yours is also the limited edition SE LE is it not as it's a 2005 model? Fully loaded with full leather, sat nav etc... The problem you have is that it's gonna be 2 generations old come next March so mk2 IS's will come down in price so you have to compete against that. I think you'll get 5k for it if you can find someone who wants a mk1 and also people that do want a mk1 either look for a sport or the SE LE so that's in your favour. Good luck, let us know what you get for it :)
  18. Yeah saw them. Was slightly envious! Lol..
  19. These are the rarest wheels ever! Ive never seen them on an IS on the road. I would love a set as I think they look brilliant. So hard to find, or find good ones. As you can see from the wheels Matt found in the links above, if you do find them they seem to be in poor condition :( Their not made anymore and I believe they were only available through Lexus so there's not many here in the UK either.
  20. Yes and yes. I have receipts for my car for a brand new set of wheels from Lexus when 3 years old due to corrosion and this set has been refurbished twice. A third time is on the cards as well as their starting to bubble :(
  21. Don't know about the LS but Lexus were £85 for my battery on my IS and they fitted it for me for no extra. £25 cheaper than Halfords :)
  22. I should have added that If it is a valve stem seal then you need it fixed ASAP. If its letting too much oil through which if you have blue smoke it sounds like it is then you can damage the CAT which is expensive for a new one. Oh and their pretty cheap in most cars. Never bought any for the Lex but on my Honda they were less than £10 per seal. I don't know what a mechanic would charge for fitting however.
  23. So you actually know how much it's worth as you just bought it. Are you just seeing if you can make a profit on it? I don't blame you for that lol... Anyway what something is worth and what someone is prepared to pay for it are two different things. Also as you've already stated its a 13 plate (are they even on the road yet?) so it would have to go on a brand new car which would limit your selling opportunity. :)
  24. Well when you say it smokes a lot are you sure it's burning oil? If the smoke is white then that's perfectly normal. If its blue or black then you have a problem. It's common for the IS to smoke a lot on cold days and while the engine is warming up. Mine smokes like mad at 7am when it's -2C but after a few miles it's not nocitable. You say yours uses a little oil. Are you 100% sure. My experience is that the IS does not use a drop of oil. I've had 2 and neither use any oil what so ever! Remember when checking your oil the level will be slightly different when checking it cold or warm. Read these threads, they might help :) http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=79594&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=77656&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1
