  1. Wierd! If it were me I'd look at throttle body, air filter and what fuel I was using. Hope you get to the bottom of it :)
  2. I'll be going as Castle Combe is literally 15 min drive for me :) Don't know about a club stand. I didn't go last year, was working!
  3. Hi and welcome to LOC. Had to LOL at this!! :) :)
  4. I don't think what Lexus do solves the problem as there are many stories of the head gasket going for a second time :(
  5. The 3 Auxillary belts behind your radiator can just be put back on. If yours have never been changed tho just put 3 new ones on there. Their so cheap, about £10-12 a belt. I got all 3 fitted by Lexus Bristol for £55 including free newspaper and a free coffee :)
  6. Hi. I can understand your frustration. I found Lexus dealers to be a bit hit and miss. Their either excellent or terrible. Yes the corroding alloys are nuisance. More owners have this problem than do not :( As for your callipers, if you have a full Lexus service history and as you say you've had no expense spared on extra parts etc then Surely you should now be calling your Lexus dealer, telling them the story and what your mechanic found and see what they say. If you have a fully stamped service book and receipts then they can't argue that it wasn't them. What have you got to lose and you might be surprised at what they've got to say. :)
  7. This one looks a good example and a bargain at the price. Depends on what the "lots of history" tells. So it went cheap, did you get it?
  8. Very nice car Ray. :) So you pretty much went and bought the IS I was looking for when I got mine lol. I wanted a 2000-2002 blue sport with cream interior. At the time I didn't know I could get one with a factory fitted kit and 18" alloys then I found mine and had to have it even tho it's silver and black interior. I think the only thing I'd change to the exterior of yours are the alloys. 18"s look great on the sport with the lower suspension. There's hardly a gap between my wheels and arches. Plus every IS I see on the road has the same wheels as yours. Are you happy with them or thinking of changing?
  9. Hello and welcome to LOC :) These threads might help you http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=65119&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=74110&st=0 Oh and by the way you have a IS200 Sport. Not a luxury sports ( no such thing)
  10. What car is it? You posted in general discussions so your only gonna get help if members know what Lexus it is :)
  11. That's why I said its up to you if you change it. It's just there for protection. Nobody is going to tell you that if your rubber boot is missing or torn then you shocks will pack up! You have to decide weather it's worth your time, effort and money to replace it. Obviously dirt, sand, dust etc getting onto your shocks isn't going to do it any good but is it necessarily going to do them any harm? Lexus don't seem to think so or they would have tried to sell you the boots!
  12. As long as the shock absorber is working then having a rip in the rubber boot is not an MOT fail. The boot just helps to keep dirt, dust etc out so it's up to you if you replace it.
  13. Mine has that 'gate' but it slides through effortlessly. No need for a 'shove' :) You don't think something is wearing out on mine :(
  14. Mines different. It slides into reverse far too easily. And I've selected reverse instead of 1st on countless occasions.
  15. Yeah they changed it around after 01 I think. Don't know why. I noticed that when looking at different 200's when buying. :)
  16. So then would that not be a solid claim against the 12 year corrosion warranty? If it came from the factory like that and is now rusting 8 years on then bang to rights surely?

  18. Do you have to have a diesel? Same price range will be a similar 250 which is a V6 petrol engine. Yes it's thirsty but you don't have to live with the head gasket fear or EGR valve etc... It's a fantastic car! And DON'T BUY A MONDEO! Lol... :)
  19. I bet there's some members on here that could do it! :) And how come a Lexus doesn't have power mirrors?? Even my 96 Honda Civic had electric mirrors!
