  1. Slows the throttle response supposedly limiting wheel spin. It doesn't work, worst car I've ever owned in the snow. But prob cos I didn't buy winter tyres. Some members say using it all the time gives better MPG. But I hate it on. Floor it in second with it on and you'll see what I mean.
  2. Don't know about the RX but on the MK1 IS If you lose your transponder key or "masterkey" then it's new locks, new ignition barrel, new ECU and new keys. This must be common as Lexus do it for a fixed price of £2000! :( Dies not seem to afflict the Mark 2 - produce any key to get a new key from scratch. That's good to hear as I want a mk2 next year. I guess Lexus learnt from their mistake :)
  3. Bit high for 150k! Someone just bought a mint looking 200 sport with 143k on it for £900!
  4. Can't believe their not on eBay! Still don't have any. Annoys me everytime I clean the wheels. I asked Lexus Bristol to put some on when they had the car last month but they said they didn't have any. I asked them to order some but they never got back to me :(

  6. Yeah my freeze up, not standard :(
  7. So you have second hand everything that Lexus change for £2k for. Nice! :) Please post how you get on. If you are successful then this will be a massive help to members in the future. :)
  8. They take the mickey with keys dealers! If your key is working fine then just buy a case as you say from eBay. All the parts will move over, transponder etc. then you just need to get the blade cut at a locksmith. £300 for what's gonna cost you a tenner! Absolute joke!
  9. It's gotta be worth a try. I think you have everything you need except the barrel. Can you not get that as well? Good luck fella :)
  10. Am I the only one that likes the yellow?
  11. Sorry, thought it was prob 1 of a kind being purple. Just wondering if it was a members!
  12. Bottom line is if you decide to own a car and want the freedom a car gives then you will always be putting your hand in your pocket! Like Matt, I don't get this thread!
  13. Hi. Now some people will tell you this is possible. They have a 'mate' who has a 'mate' who can do it etc... All I know is if you approach Lexus or any reputable auto electrician they will tell you this can't be done. We used to have another IS with only one key which wasn't a master so I wanted the ECU flashed and reprogrammed with all new keys and a new transponder. Nobody would touch it especially not Lexus. They change the lot in your position at the cost of £2000.
  14. Very nice fella. That looks like it would do another 170k :)
  15. Lol I was reaching for my phone but the lights turned green and off I had to go so no pic :( Purple on the IS isn't a Lexus colour so must have been sprayed. Looked an amazing job. It really did look brand new, the wheels were all shined up as well. Best example of an IS I've ever seen I think. Well from the outside anyway! :)
  16. Just seen a stunning mk1 IS just outside Chippenham. It was purple with TTE kit and Aero alloys. :) Don't know if it was a 200 or 300 only saw it from the front and side. Was that anybody's here?
  17. I've done the same. Can't you make it so the link opens in a new window so if we do click the link instead of 'post' at least we won't lose what we've written :)
  18. Yeah you got the Aero's same as me but painted black. Never seen black ones before. Very nice :)
  19. Ahh posted my last comment in the wrong winter tyres thread! Apologies for thread hijack!
  20. I thought I didn't need winter tyres, never needed them before. Thought it would be a waste of money. I thought I don't live in Russia so there's no point! How wrong I was! I've spent the last 2 days sliding on snow and ice! I'm genuinely scared I'm gonna prang my lex! I hit my front wall coming out of my drive this morning. The wheels started spinning (yes I was in snow mode) so I floored it to power through. The TRC kicked in, I couldn't get it to rev over 1200rpm and it just slid sideways into the wall all within about 5 seconds! Lucky only a small mark which will t cut out. Took the TRC off and I was able to get off my drive after 15 mins! :( I'm now going to get a lift to work tomorrow with my mate in his land rover disco. Morale of the story.... Buy winter tyres if you own an IS200!
  21. I found the same with Lexus Swindon and Lexus Bristol but bizarrely the other way around. Bristol dealer is part of a massive Synter building and dealership so I assume that Lexus Bristol is Synter group. Lexus Swindon is just next to a Renault dealership so I think they are not. Cambelt at Lexus Swindon £370 parts and labour, Lexus Bristol £300 parts and labour. Aux belts Lexus Swindon £77 for all 3 parts and labour, Lexus Bristol £55 parts and labour! Strange isn't it?
  22. I've used them all and they all work fine. They all de-ice your car as soon as you spray it on :) I found Carplan runs out quickest. I've stopped using de-icer since I bought the lex. I just sit in it for 10mins listening to the radio in the heated seat with everything on full blast :) Oh and I don't know how true this is but I've heard de-icer can damage your paintwork and as Lexus seem to use very soft paint I don't want to run the risk.
  23. Sounds a bit low to me to be honest. Are you booting it everywhere? I mean 4000rpm+ in every gear and on only short trips will give you poor MPG. I can get 150 miles or so from the same amount of fuel only doing town driving but I don't take it over 3500rpm when im not on the motorway or A road.
