  1. Caerphilly is it butt!!! Lol... I'm from the Rhondda but live in Wiltshire now :)
  2. Buy Ians200's if the model numbers match and cancel the Lexus appointment. Lexus are gonna charge you £90 just to look at it plus repair on top and as Normski says they'll just try to flog you a knew one at stupid money!
  3. Very nice. That will make a perfect wedding car! Well I'll never own one so they'll always be Rollers to me :)
  4. Hello and Welcome. Does the car always idle at 1200rpm? Even when warm? If so try cleaning the throttle body and DPF filter or like you say could be EGR related. I found the IS200 and IS220d twitchy at the back when I first drove them and I came from BMW and Honda so maybe it just needs getting used to or as Steve says check the tread of your tyres or maybe you have a 'budgets' on there.
  5. It'll be fine Ray and your mpg will go up when you get it to motorway/dual carrigeway speeds. I only got 110 miles from half a tank when I was down in Swansea visiting family. I did 16 miles a day in 4, 4 mile trips if that makes sense. So I noticed a drastic drop in mpg when just using the car on short trips from cold starts!
  6. So we're gonna have a little 5 a side game in May at the meet? You should be fine by then fella!
  7. The price of these is dropping by the day fella. If u want to sell then sell it soon or it'll literally not be worth it! You can get a 10 year old model with 100k on it for less than a grand! £4500 seems steep to me even if yours does have a crazy low mileage and is in mint condition. The other thing that lets yours down is the lack of service history. I'm sure you are more than competent of carrying out your own servicing but that doesn't hold any weight when trying to sell a car on. Look at this thread, pretty much explains why you can get an IS200 so cheap! http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=80243&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1
  8. 25 mpg sounds about right. The most economical way to drive this car is at 60mph in 6th gear. If you have cruise control even better with that on. I can get the mpg needle to sit on 40mpg at 60mph/6th gear. Don't think that needle is very accurate tho. I average 28-30mpg doing a mix of B roads and dual carriageway :) And yes your light will come on with 7-8 litres left in the tank, I've tested this a lot and I can normally fit in 62-63 litres :)
  9. Above we see the one of the rarest sights in the world.... A Lexus IS200 with a full tank of petrol! :)
  10. Lol sorry 6 months in a wheelchair and 2 years on crutches! Not the other way around! Anyway just shy of 3 years after the accident until I could walk again properly and 4 years after the accident until I played football again! I'd be upfront for Man United now instead of that Dutch bloke if it wasn't for my accident!
  11. Hi Ian, all the best mate. Had no idea you were suffering ill health. Do you mind if I ask why you had to have operations on your leg and ankle? I almost lost my right leg, put it through a glass door! :( 6 operations later, 147 stitches in total and 2 years in a wheelchair and 6 months on crutches! Not to mention all the physio to learn to walk again!
  12. Lol Ray I see your as disgusted as me with the MPG! Mines worse than my old Honda and that car was much bigger and had a 2.2 engine. Speak to some people tho and their claiming 40+ mpg from the IS and can get 600 miles to a tank Those figures are impossible in my IS200!
  13. Hi Stuart welcome to LOC. Yeah some pics would be great :) Is that a typo on your mileage or does it only have 12k on the clock?
  14. If its a re call issue it should be done free of charge. I don't know the exact circumstances of the 5th injector problem on 220d. I dont know if theres an age/mileage limit as in the head gasket issue, but like I say if it's a recall and it hasn't been done it should be free. As yours has FLSH call the dealer that has been used in the service history as they know the car. Let us know how you get on :)
  15. Just call a Lexus dealer. They'll have the history of all re call work done.
  16. Keep an eye on the brake imbalance. Mine only pulled slightly at first but then after approx 1000 miles it got noticeably worse and worse until I was steering left every time I braked Also if your MOT is due it might fail on brake imbalance test. I think your allowed 25% imbalance.
  17. That'll make a grand I reckon! if it had stayed on £400 I would have had it! I understand your excitement. I watched one of my old cars get sold on eBay a few years ago, I was addicted to watching the auction and seeing how much it would go for :)
  18. I've just re read your opening post. You've only had the car a week. Bosch plugs that you found in there when you bought the car were the wrong plugs but you've just gone and replaced them with another type of wrong plug! And by the way don't fit Bosch irridium plugs. For some reason the car doesn't like Bosch plugs even if they are irridium. NGK or Denso irridium are what's needed.
  19. Platinum will work fine when brand new but the IS200 engine does not like anything else except irridium plugs. I fitted Bosch Platinum when I first bought the car. Everything was fine for about 1000 miles then it wouldn't start. I put Denso irridium in (OEM) and the car has been fine for over 8000 miles. Also platinum doesn't last as long as irridium so how long ago did you change them? Bottom line is your using the wrong plugs and your experiencing starting problems. Put 2 and 2 together fella....
