  1. Is it rubbing against the leather? I have resolved this issue in my other car by sticking a square of sticky back felt to the seat belt locking mechanism.
  2. It doesn't. Tyre Pressure Monitors became a legal requirements in the EU on 01 November 2012 for new types of cars (not new cars).
  3. FYI... Southampton/Hedge End dealer offers a free courtesy car, providing you give them notice due to availability. You get whatever car is available on the day, but they will let you have whatever model you want, if enough notice is given. I have so far driven every car in the range, and even borrowed a staff GS450h once. If you do not want a courtesy car, they offer to drive you to work and pick you up once the car is ready. They also offer a collection/drop off service, which is also FOC. My car is always returned clean, inside and out, with a tin of boiled sweets left on the passenger seat. Note that it is not uncommon for Lexus to recommend a replacement of the water pump when they change the timing belt. It makes sense because it is easier to access while the timing belt replacement is carried out, but means another £350 or so to add to the bill.
  4. Steve... Is a magnet not likely to interfere with the transponder?
  5. The way I fixed this, was by having my car key on its own keyring, without any other key. It is also kinder on your pockets, as once you have parked your car, you only have one key to carry around. Your other keys can stay hidden in the car somwehere. Incidentally, I read somewhere that the weight of a heavy keyring loaded with keys may eventually damage the ignition barrel... not sure whether there is any truth in it...
  6. I thoought it was just a simple calculation based on number of breakdowns per year.
  7. But then it is no longer a survey just on reliability though.. it is?
  8. Rather than a mini USB memory stick, try a micro USB memory stick such as the Kingston Technology Data Traveler Micro USB. (sorry, for some reason I am still unable to paste links... not too sure why).
  9. I too use my phone to get the full street address. You can then input it into the car system. Not ideal, but it works. (I use Navmii)
  10. Interesting post that reminded me of an older one, where someone else on the forum claimed that their car had been broken into without any apparent damage or forced entry... For some mysterious reason I am unable to paste the link in here, but search this forum for "stolen", and look for "Lexus RX300 broken into insurance company refuses to pay out"
  11. Not as embarrassing as you think. I found that one mirror was dipping very little in comparison to the other. Dealer diagnosed faulty / worn motor and replaced the mirror under warranty. Second mirror was replaced for the same reason a couple of months later. All that is to say that it may be possible that your mirror(s) does / do not dip as much as they should.
  12. I for one love the looks. At least it's different. I also like the visible exhaust outlets that hint at the performance... although I suspect they might be fake. Not sure about the tail lights... They remind me of a Nissan Qashqai or Hyundai x35. I wish they were slimmer like the headlights. Interior looks gorgeous. Any idea how the size and interior space compare with the current model?
  13. Voice control. Love it or hate it. Loves you or hates you too, depending on your accent!
  14. I got my car done by Lexus when I bought it. However, they brought someone in to apply the coating. As mentionned above, if you are going to an independent, make sure they are certified. A couple of years ago, I had a front wing replaced after an argument with a lorry. The repairer, as appointed by my insurance, made a pigs ear in applying the coating and the car had to go back 3 times to the workshop.
  15. Standard tyres in the UK are Bridgestone Potenza. Should do a search on "tyres" within the forum... there are endless threads full of good advice.
  16. Really? - I had a new IS300h as a courtesy car a coiuple of weeks ago and it had auto lock enabled. (64 plate with 2000 miles on the clock)
  17. Depends on condition, colour combination, level of spec... but also age. 65k but for what year Russell? Someone mentionned the cost of replacing mirrors... they are expensive! - Make sure they fold (button next to hatch release), that both dip when you put the car in reverse, and also that the internal and both external mirrors darken when it's dark (you can simulate that by covering the sensor at the back of the internal mirror).
  18. I agree. I had my RX400h glasscoated also. Makes cleaning a lot easier too. I have found that you can use car washes with no adverse effect (the coating protects well from minor scratches), and also that you do not need to go for the more expensive washes.
  19. Same. 29mpg, enjoying the performance and with aircon switched on all the time. A little less in winter as it takes longer for the car to warm up and you rely on the gadgets, but providing your drive is long enough, it averages out.
  20. My car has a more recent satnav than yours, but assuming that the basic functions are the same, could it be that you have accidently pressed the zoom out button? I can't quite visualise what the screen looks like exactly, but there should be a + sign in the bottom left of the screen and a - sign in the opposite corner (possibly the other way around). As you zoom out, the map will become less detailed and you will loose the street names.
  21. Yep. I use it all the time in the summer to let the warm air escape before we get in the car. It opens / closes the sunroof too.
  22. Is there one? Two days ago, I found that I could not start the car because the battery was flat. My son had left the rear interior light on. No problem, I thought, I have some brand new jump leads that are still in their original packaging, and another car sitting on the drive, so I will soon be on the road. Unfortunately, my jump leads are stored in the underfloor compartment at the very rear of the car, the compartment that can only be opened using one of the two buttons on the boot lip... hidden by the door when it is closed. My problem was that, while I had managed to unlock the car, there was not enough juice left to operate the boot release, even using the handle on the door itself. (My son did crawl in the boot from inside the car, but of course could not reach the release buttons) So... because I could not open the boot door... I could not open the underfloor compartment... could not get the jump leads out... and could not get the car started. I had to borrow leads from a friend. (Mine remain pristine in their packaging) So my question is, in the event of a battery failure, is there a manual override that will let you open the boot? Thanks to all in advance.
  23. Choose the colour combination for yourself, not for the next owner. If you are going to spend this amount of money on a new car, surely you want to enjoy it. None of the colours on offer are so outrageous that they are going to make resale difficult, and even if you were to lose, let'#s say £300, what's a £300 loss over 3 years? Not even £10 per month! Life's too short!
  24. On mine, the strip under the grille has started to go rusty...
