  1. You and me both Chris. Had not noticed either.
  2. I agree with Ryaan and also would recommend a 450. Apart from the comfort factor, and more up to date gadgets (remember the 400h dates back to 2003!), the 450h is also cheaper to run with lower tax and improved petrol consumption. Why not go to your local dealer and ask to drive both models back to back and see for yourself? - The dealer should be happy to oblige and a test drive does not commit you to buying from them...
  3. Keith, I am a little confused by your post... Did you not just press "NO" on the screen itself? When the YES / NO prompt appears on the screen, all you need to do is press either of the two on the screen itself. Pressing the menu button will not do anything? Or am I missing something?
  4. Interesting one Colin, thank you... I'll have to check the paperwork I was given as the information came from the dealer.
  5. I am in the process of changing up from a 400h to a second hand 450h and I am planning to pay for the extended Lexus warranty, which is £995 for 2 years. A couple of points you may want to consider... - the standard 1 year warranty DOES NOT cover the sat nav and the entertainment system HOWEVER - if you opt for the Lexus extended warranty (£995 for two years) in addition to the standard 1 year warranty, the sat nav and entertainment system are then covered for the whole three years - the extended warranty also includes recovery (can't remember whether it is AA or RAC) All in all, given that the sat nav and entertainment systems are probably the components that are the most likely to breakdown over the years because of the cd/dvd players (and they are very expensive to repair/replace), and if you take into account the cost of European wide recovery cover, I think that the Lexus warranty is not a bad deal at all.
  6. Have had an annoying sqeak/rattle for a while and suspected it was leather rubbing against leather, until I eventually worked out that it came from the top of the passenger window. If I open the window just a fraction, the noise stops. It's obviously the glass rubbing against the trim. Can anyone suggest what I could use to make it stop? - I have tried silicone, but that has not really helped...
  7. Mine are similar. I assumed it was something to do with lack of light exposure rather than the mats themselves. I recommend www.mrcarmats.com
  8. Colin... The Executive Limited Edition does/did NOT have the rear ICE package. It was not even available as an extra to my knowledge. Mine certainly does not have it. Are you talking about another version just called Executive?
  9. You cannot disable traction control on the 400h. Also, there is no SNOW or ECO mode.
  10. The Executive Limited Edition was the run out model before the RX450h came out. The only difference with the SE-L is that it did not have the rear entertainment system (DVD and screens built into the back of the front headrest). The Exe Ltd Ed also has illuminated Lexus logos oin the door seals... can't remember whether or not the SE-L had these. Strongly suggest that you search the forum as this is well documented, in particular in recent topics.
  11. Badge on the tailgate is also different Pre-facelift badge on the left, newer one on the right
  12. Indeed... I got a Q5 brochure and started to select options to bring the spec in line with that of a NX premier... and landed firmly into RX territory... and gave up even before exhausting the list of available extras. Decent sound system, navigation, bluetooth, heated seats, electric seats, dipping mirrors, electro-chromatic mirrors, to name but a few... all available at an extra and rather high cost. Nah. Not for me. I may not be 100% sold on the looks of some of the Lexus models, or details such as the antiquated maps on the satnav, but to me these are small compromises that I am happy to live with and that are far outweighed by the quality of the car, the decent service, and to some extent exclusivity afforded by Lexus. Who notices when an Audi drives past?
  13. I like everything to be in perfect working order in my car, and over the years, I have often popped into my local dealership (Hedge End / Southampton) to check one thing or other. Checks have always been done gracefully, while I was waiting in a clean showroom with a cup of coffee, or chatting to staff. I have never, ever been charged any diagnostic fee. This is one of the reasons my current Lexus will be replaced with another Lexus. Incidentally, my local ASC drives a white RX400h... unless he recently sold it.
  14. Thanks to all for the comprehensive feedback. Very useful. Sylm - I agree... I like the toys and aiming for a Premier if I can find one in the right colour combination. I am not a fan of dark interiors! As an aside, I popped into my local Audi dealer at the weekend, primarily to check how much of a compromise a smaller car would be. I was chatting with the sales staff and explained that I did not want a silver car, or a car with a dark interiors. Their response was that, if I was to go for an Audi, I would be hard pushed to find a combination that I liked: over 97% of cars sold by Audi in the UK have a black interior!... and a large proportion of these have black or dark grey headlining. Boring lot! ;-)
  15. That's the colour combination I am looking for! Actually, this is not the SI model. It is either the SE-L or the SE-L Premier that used to sit at the top of the range. Why? Your car has LED headlights that were not available on the SI The passenger seat has memory settings, which again were not available on the SI Same with the wood trim and the wood/leather combination on the steering wheel. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong...
  16. in the storage pocket at the back on the front seats maybe?
  17. How much did you pay? You may not want to hear this now, but I have bought disks from eBay in the past, at a fraction of what Lexus would charge. These are original disks, not copies, sourced from Lexus owners outside the UK. Typically, your Lexus should come with a full set of disks covering the whole of Europe... some of which you may never use. I bought mine from a chap in Germany who had no use for the UK disk.
  18. I think you should definitely check the charger. check last night: same charger works with my Sony, but not with the iphone. In the same socket.
  19. Obviously a city boy! I have a 35 mile commute across country roads, so I use high beam a lot, especially in winter, to scare the wildlife... and see where I'm going through the pitch black countryside! Thanks to all for your useful responses!
  20. Going back to the original topic, I thought that the seat bases and back rests (effectively the parts your body makes contact with) were leather, but that the sides and backs of the seats (and headrests?) were fake leather.
  21. I had a similar problem: turned out that the problem was not with the sockets, but with the adaptors I was using. Some work, some don't, but I cannot tell you why. For instance I found that I could charge my Sony phone from one socket... but not my son's iphone.
  22. Thanks Rayaan. Most appreciated. Is the side monitor on both sides or only the passenger side? Also, am I correct in assuming that the display comes up on the satnav screen and is shared with that of the rear view camera?
