I have cleaned the sensors. I don't think it's related to a faulty sensor as the display shows alerts for both rear corners. Wiring? Maybe... Interesting that, as for F.A. the problem started when it was raining. Maybe water is getting in somewhere. Car is booked in end of next week... Will report back... Thanks for the various suggestions. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

Problem is that Lexus drivers are so well isolated from the outside world by efficient sound deadening and in the RX double glazing, that internal creaks and rattles are all the more obvious. Which reminds me that I still have not found a solution to stop the creaking coming from the rear seat of my car. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

Lived in southern Germany for 9 years and would not have survived the winters without winter tyres. People there tend to buy a set of steel wheels so you don't have to worry about kerbing and salt corrosion. As stated by others, they are a waste above 7 degrees. The compound is very soft and will wear out quickly in "warmer" temperature. Furthermore, the added resistance that the thread provide decreases MPG. Can't be them in the snow though. Dear fellow contributors! A couple of days ago I put my car into reverse, and the rear right parking sensor started beeping incessantly, trying very hard to convince me that I was about to collide with an obstacle. Nothing was showing on the rear camera screen, but I got our nevertheless and verified that nothing was in my way. Odd I thought. Later that day, again I put the car in reverse and this time BOTH the right and left parking sensors started beeping madly at me. Again, no obstacle. The problem persists, to the point that I have now disabled the parking sensors, solely relying on the reversing camera. Any idea or suggestion before I make contact with my friendly dealer? Thank you.

Can't wait to hear your first report! I like the twin exhausts of the 200T... makes it look more sporty.

Boot Won't Open Sometimes.
DanD replied to Goggy's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Just to re-state the obvious, were the doors unlocked? I know that when my wife drops me off at the station, she has to unlock the doors via the button on the armrest before being able to 1) open the boot remotely via the button or 2) for me to open the boot manually from the outside. Switching the engine/car off is not sufficient, as this does not unlock the doors... -
If you search the forum, you will find several threads on this, some with definitive and clear answers (at least clearer than my explanation below!). In fact one also contains an extract from a letter from Lexus UK HQ in response to a forum member query. No headlight adjustment is required when travelling to mainland Europe. No adjustment to the headlights themselves, and no need for stickers to redirect the beam either. This is because the beam is flat across its range, whereas in some cars, the beam kicks up on the passenger side (I'm sure I am not using the correct terminology, but hopefully, you will understand what I mean!!!) The only thing you might consider doing, is turning the AFS off, although based on the above this is more for your convenience than out of courtesy towards oncoming traffic, as I do not thinl they would be affected. By the way, I believe the above to apply also to the CT, IS300h/250/200t, GS300h/450h and NX models.

I don't think this is any different to other cars: x miles or 1 year, whatever comes first. There are variances where some cars require servicing every 10k, 15k or even 20k, and 12, 18 or 24 months, but the principle is the same. Some service intervals, as set by the manufacturers, are a little arbitrary though. I had a 2.0 TDI SEAT some years ago. Service interval was 1 year, but 2 years for a VW with exactly the same engine.

That's interesting... I posted a similar post on another - non Lexus forum - this morning, as I have a similar issue with my other car. My phone is a xperia Z3, although I am not sure the type of phone is relevant, and I don't have this issue when using it in my Lexus or indeed other cars. You mention that "the transmission volume is on max": I did not think you could change the transmission volume, only the reception volume... which is correct? Somebody suggested that the microphone in my car may be faulty or may have become dislodged... just a thought... EDIT 05/11/15 Problem in my other car was resolved by the dealer who dialed into the car settings with their laptop and altered the transmission volume. They confirmed that, generally speaking, the driver can change the reception volume, but not the transmission volume. Of course it may be different with Lexus, but I have never been able to change the transmission volume on my two RXs... unless I have missed a setting somewhere... D

Amit, maybe you should voice your concerns to the dealer and get them to test your car while they have it... -
Some Minor Niggles; All Good Otherwise

In order to circumvent the issue of the power tailgate hitting the ceiling in a garage / car park, why not open the tailgate manually rather than with the remote? You can then control when you want it to stop! -
Lexus Rx 450 - 59 Plate

Would it be worth changing the battery in the key? -
About disks warping because of leaving foot on brake... is that fact or myth? - Have you actually come across examples of this? I have been driving a new GS300h for the past few days while my RX is at the dealer's. It has a wonderful feature called HOLD. Once you have enabled it (button on dash), the car will automatically apply the parking brake when you stop in traffic. You do not need to shift the leaver out of D, or to keep your foot on the brakes, and all you need to do is press the throttle when you are ready to go. With regards to keeping the parking/hand brake on in the event of being rear ended, views vary on this. If you don't have brakes on, sure you may be propelled into the car in front. From a medical perspective, I believe it is better NOT to have the brakes on as the car's movement will absorb some of the shock and therefore reduce whiplash. Pros and cons for everything. Police and insurance companies recommend you keep your windows locked. Emergency services recommend you don't lock them to help exit quicker. Fire brigade recommends you keep your internal doors shut to prevent fire propagation... the gas man recommends you keep everything open for the heat to circulate... Who's right... who's wrong...

My brother's car has the glasscoat on it. He tells me that he always hand washes the car, rinses it with an open ended hose and dries it... with a leaf blower, effectively blowing the water away as in a car wash. I have never seen him actually do it, but he swears by it. (I'll probably find out one day that he's been winding me up all these years!!!!)

Disk Full
DanD replied to DanD's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
I think you must be referring to the Gracenote database which is fitted to the high end versions of the RX450h. Unfortunately, mine is the SE-I and does not have this facility. Better than a stab in the dark. A near miss. -
Was playing one of my favourite CDs on Sunday, when I suddenly received a message "DISK FULL", upon which the audio system switched itself off. This is a bought CD (latest Will Young if you must know!) that has been played dozens of time without problem. Any idea? Thanks in advance...

Tyre Choice

It's a bit like buying a Lexus or a Kia. Nothing wrong with a Kia at all. Well equipped, good warranty... but it's still a Kia. If you go and spend your hard earned cash on a premium brand like Lexus, it seems a bit of a shame to then go and cut corners - so to speak - on tyres etc. You would not be taking your Rolex to Hill Samuel for a service. Oh dear... I sound like a snob... :-( I guess what I am trying to say, is that you have a top quality car... so don't go compromise and make sure you fit top quality tyres. -
