  1. I agree with Graham. I have run a number of cars (the last 4 Lexus) on 'regular' supermarket fuel, without any additive, and often covering in excess of 25,000 miles per year, and I have never experienced any petrol related issue. To me, using supermarket fuel is the same as using non-branded paracetamol or ibuprofen. All have to meet the same legal and industry-specific requirements to be on sale, so why pay extra for the branded stuff.
  2. Jamie Cullum and friends.
  3. I never use ECO. I find it frustratingly sluggish with little gain in economy over Normal mode.
  4. I believe the system is the same as in the current NX: Short press of the button at the end of the cruise control stalk switches radar cruise control on. Increases/decreases in 5mph increments Long press of the same switches conventional cruise control. Increases/decreases in 1mph increment You cannot switch from one mode directly to the other: you have to switch the system off and start again.
  5. Jeremy?
  6. ... and the lighting of the footwells dims when you switch from Park to Drive.
  7. I have the Front facing only Nextbase cam, installed by Lexus. Neatly integrated and works very well with excellent quality recordings. However, this is my first dashcam, so cannot compare.
  8. Yep. Between Winchester and Southampton, not far from junction 12 of the M3.
  9. Were you at the lavender farm? :-)
  10. Question: how do you fill it up?
  11. I had a T-reg, bright blue Mini 1000 in the 80's. Drove to Spain and back twice, to Paris and back half a dozen times and once to Munich. All this over 4 years of ownership and of course in addition to my daily commute to work. Amazingly it never let me down. The only incident I ever had was a smashed windscreen in the South of France. Got hit by a stone on the motorway on a hot day. Nothing happened at the time, but woke up to a crazed windscreen the following morning, no doubt brought on by the overnight change in temperature. The car was regularly serviced, but looking back, I must have been mad to attempt such trips without a second thought. I guess I was young then... and obviously very lucky! The funny thing is that I then decided to go for a drastic upgrade: an early, red Maserati Biturbo (second hand). I loved it but only had the opportunity to use it locally for the 6 months I owned it because it broke down at least 4 times. I eventually sold it on because I could not afford to run it!
  12. Funnily enough, our Mesa red NX is my daily driver. My wife is a 2005 Mini Cooper (silver with black roof) with 33,000 miles on the clock.
  13. "My current wife...." Made me smile.
  14. Enjoying Lord Huron, Tall Heights and Family of the Year.
  15. No thanks. Who's car is this? - Mad Max's? I guess this is car for straight roads only... can't imagine steering it would be much fun... LOL
  16. Could it maybe replace the RC?
  17. I think this is because it is a French spec car. If it were in the UK, I'm guessing it would sit between the SE-I and the SE-L. I had an SE-I and the headlights were standard xenon, not LED.
  18. Citroen C6 is/was a contemporary oddity, with the fable but woefully unreliable air suspension. The reason you still see plenty of Renault 4 (and 12) and Peugeot 404/405/505 on the African continent is not because they were reliable cars but because they were easily available in countries that often were previously French colonies. Peugeot and Renault would sell obsolete assembly lines for cheap and production would carry on locally. The cars often had 'previous generation' engines to make maintenance as cheap and easy as possible. Same principle as the VW Beetle that was built in Brazil until fairly recently and Hindustan cars built in India as re-badged Morris Oxford.
  19. Given the headlights and steering wheel controls, it looks like this is the equivalent of the SE-L that was sold in the UK. Looks like the car currently has no valid MOT. If the spec includes the air suspension (it would on the UK equivalent), I would get this checked out carefully. Some other points to consider: - Spec mentions massaging seats. I'm pretty sure that this wasn't available on 2010 cars, whatever the country... could be wrong - Test the infotainment system thoroughly: calibration and responsiveness of the screen, functionality (Back in the day, mine was replaced under warranty and a reconditioned unit cost several thousands) - Check that the reversing camera and parking sensors works - Check that the seats electric and memory functions work and that the seats slide all the way back and forth (memory seat function should include external mirror and steering wheel position) - Check that the side camera (on passenger's side) works - This model seems to have the radar cruise control... make sure that the front Lexus badge is not damaged (the radar sensor sits behind it) and that the system works correctly - Mirrors should darken (including the internal mirror) when the sensor is covered. Both should also fold electronically. - All speakers should work, including the top dash one and the one in the boot - You should have two keys (and a key card, assuming this was available in France, which I can't remember) - Check that the rear door goes all the way up - Check for water ingress in the boot - check for uneven tyre wear - This car has LED directional headlights as opposed to xenon lamps. Make sure they all work as they cost a lot to replace. - Check the aircon works - CD is a 6 disc multichanger... make sure it works and that discs change and eject OK - SatNav works from a disc reader in the boot (under the cover). Make sure it is not damaged. - Petrol cap release can be temperamental on older cars... check it opens fine I hope I'm right on the latter point: It's been a while since I owned a 400h and a 450h and it could be that I'm getting the two mixed up. Someone else will be able to confirm.
  20. I remember my parents listening to RTL on trips... brings back memories! RTL is still going strong.
  21. One thing of note is that the upgrade gives you both Android Auto AND Apple CarPlay. I have always been an Android user, however my wife and kids all have iPhones. Some weeks ago, my wife plugged in her phone to charge it whilst I was using my phone and Android Auto for navigation. A message popped up on the car's screen asking if I wanted to switch from AA to CP. On a different, but related topic, I usually use navigation and Spotify concurrently. However I can't keep the phone out of sight in the armrest while doing so: using both apps at the same time seems to be resource intensive and causes the phone to overheat. I have to leave it in one of the cupholders. Has any one experienced the same?
  22. I agree. I have noticed subtle differences between my previous pre-facelift F-Sport and my current car, but with two caveats: current car has AVS - although I am not sure this would have any incidence on economy - and same current car still is on the original Yokohama Blue Earth tyres, whereas our previous NX was on Michelin Cross Climates. I suspect that the Yoko are better from an economy perspective, but they are so noisy in comparison to the Michelin that I can't wait for them needing replacing.
