  1. Some weeks ago, I followed a RX300 down the M3, and the owner had fitted some kind of spotlight under the rear bumper. No idea how efficient this would be, or the work involved in fitting one, but those of you with problems might want to look into this. It was fitted in such a way that it was barely visible under the bumper.
  2. I would consider buying one on ebay. You will find that a lot of Lexus drivers on the continent are not interested in the UK disks and therefore sell them on ebay for far less money than Lexus' retail price. If you are not fussed about getting the latest version, you can pick up disks that are a couple of years old for £20-£30. I bought one such disk from someone in Germany and others on this forum have done the same. Again, you will need to do a search... I remember some posts giving all the relevant details... Yep, voice control in the 300/350/400h is pretty much useless. I never could get it to work properly either. Besides, it can take so long to work your way through all the prompts and menus that it is often quicker to just press the buttons yourself!
  3. That's the thing about hybrids... once you have enjoyed the relative silence, comfortable seats and good quality audio... nothing else will do! Enjoy your new car and welcome to the most friendly and useful owners club on the 'net!
  4. Same issue with my RX450h and previously with a RX400h. I can't help but wonder whether there is in fact no issue and whether the problem is that over time, the temperature within the car slowly increases (due to driver and passenger body temperature) and that it reaches a point where the system starts blowing in cold air to re-adjust the temperature to the selected one. I think there is also a physiological/psychological element at work here: I have a similar argument with my wife just about every night where she complains that she is feeling cold and turns the central heating up. Eventually, once the selected temperature + 1 degree has been reached, the system shuts down and the house gradually cools down. Wife complains she is getting cold... and turns the heating up further... and on it goes... Once night it got so hot, I changed into my swimming shorts: that was enough to convince her to add/remove layers instead of playing with the central heating. :-)
  5. The satnav in the 400h does not support speed limit display. However, later versions of your satnav disks include a software update that removes the lock/safety feature you are referring to. This is discussed in various posts in this forum, including this one: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/57553-satnav-and-cd-question/?hl=%2Bsatnav+%2Bsafety
  6. Are you saying that you had to reset everything yourself after your Lexus dealer changed the water pump!? I would seriously complain if this is indeed the case as it would be in breach of what the Lexus experience is all about!
  7. @Rayaan... Maybe, but I did not expect auto high beam to react to pedestrians also.
  8. Dealer mentioned that, if someone walks in front of the car while full beam is switched on, the lights will individually and automatically switch to low beam so as to not dazzle that person... little things...
  9. It was a courtesy car I had for a few days. Of course, being a dedicated nerd, I played around with all the menus etc... but I'm sorry I can't remember what age the car was... may have been a 14 reg.
  10. New demo RX450h Premier in Sonic T / black arrived at Lexus Hedge End/Southampton. Love it.
  11. Track info is not displayed in the RX either :-( It bugs me when lesser and cheaper cars such as my Peugeot 208 have far superior ICE and satnav systems for half the price!

    New Ct?

Got to bring the ICE and satnav up to date too. Using voice control on Lexus is soooo painful, having to go through endless menus. The ICE also needs to be simpler and more intuitive. The satnav display is also so dated, especially compared to what is available on Audis with their Google Eartth type displays.
  13. With the RX, the engine cuts in almost immediately after starting. However, this can be delayed by 1) switching the aircon off as suggested by Luigi above, or 2) forcing the car into EV mode only. Immediately after starting the car, if you press the menu button on the steering wheel, the default display will show EV Mode on/off and you can then force the car to switch to EV. There are two restrictions: the battery needs to have sufficient charge (it seems to be around 50% min) and you have to go through the procedure within 10 to 15 seconds of starting the car. After that the option to force EV mode is no longer available. I leave home at 6am most morning, so tend to use this so as to not wake the family up. You might want to check if a similar procedure exists with the IS... otherwise all you can do is switch the aircon off as soon as you start the car...
  14. Really? Does the procedure vary from one IS300h model to another? I remember being able to change the number of flashes by just going through one of the menus on the dashboard using the steering wheel buttons...
  15. Does anyone know if/when full LED headlights will be fitted to the IS in place of the current HIDs? LEDs are available on all other Lexus models, and also on the IS outside the UK, and given that it is now Lexus' best seller over here, it seems odd that it is not yet available with LED headlights...
  16. Are you able to ask your dealer to test two cars back to back, one with the ML system one without? You would need to test them with the same CD... When I changed from a RX400h with ML system to a RX450h, I wanted the ML system also. However, I test drove a 450h without the ML system and found it to be far superior to the ML system in the 400h. I appreciate that the RX and NX are different cars etc, but depending what car you are coming from, you may find that the standard audio in the NX is simply good enough.
  17. Has anyone ever had any problems due to using 95 Ron only in their car? I cover between 20k and 25k miles per year, and I have never ever had any problem related to the type of petrol I use. In fact I tend to use supermarket petrol most of the time with no ill effect. The manufacturer recommends 95 Ron, so I stick to 95 Ron. Unless your car specifically requires 98 Ron, I am not sure you will notice any difference.
  18. I have a similar problem with my other car... a Peugeot. I can hear people perfectly, but they can only hear me very faintly if at all. I have been back to the dealer several times (it's a new car), and they have tested the system with other phones... without any problem. All they could suggest is some Bluetooth software incompatibility. Mine is a Sony Z4... which incidentally works perfectly in my Lexus. One thing the dealer pointed out, is that you must turn the volume up on the phone as well as on the car system. They also showed me that, on occasion, when pairing up, the volume on the phone gets turned down automatically. Also, I found out through this or the IS forum that some systems allow the caller to change the transmission volume. I believe you can do this on the NX, although I am not 100% sure. BTW, I know Lexus Hedge End well as they are my local dealer. I find them very reliable and genuine and trust their advice.
  19. ECO mode is sooooo sluggish... and the benefits seem so negligible. Personally, I'd rather sacrifice 2 or 3 mpg and enjoy my car.
  20. @capese21 I drove a courtesy IS300h only a weeks ago and the indicators did self cancel! OK, I agree that they are unusual in the sense that when you select left or right, the stalks goes back to its original place straight away - as opposed to staying up or down - but the indicators did self cancel after each turn...
  21. I believe there are ways to transfer phonebooks from iPhones to the 400h system. If you search the forum for "phonebook", various threads come up, some specific to your issue. (sorry I don't seem to be able to post links, so you'll have to do the search yourself)
  22. Odd. In mine, I could hear the phone dialing and the other end ringing until picked up. I had an Android phone though, not an iPhone, Are you able to test this with an Android phone to check whether it may be phone rather than car related?
  23. I could never get the voice control to work effectively with my previous 400h. It became a source of frustration because either it would not recognize the commands, or because the simplest tasks required me to go through far too many menus. I just gave up in the end. It seems that the voice control in the 450h is much more responsive. For some unknown reason, I am unable to past links in posts to this forum, but if you do a search on "voice control", or "voice commands", there is at least one post with a comprehensive list of commands. In particular, try the one titled: "full List Of Voice Commands Available Anywhere?"
  24. I upgraded from a RX400h to an RX450h and found that the reversing lights are much better. The 450h also has reversing sensors.
  25. Have you definitely unlocked the car BEFORE pressing the boot release button?
