  1. I think the press just doesn't get what Lexus - RX or other - is about. To appreciate what a Lexus is about, you need more than just a short drive and you need to live with it for at least 24 hours. This is why reviews always pick up on 1) there is no diesel in the range, 2) it's got a whiney CVT transmission. Their loss. Our gain.
  2. Had similar issue with my RX400h and my regular tyre fitting company told me at the time that it was a fairly common problem on the RX300/350/400h. Re-alignment improved things for a while but the problem would come back... The problem was exacerbated by... - Going too fast around roundabouts... tempting when you have recently switched from a "conventional car" to a powerful AWD, but weight + power + high centre of gravity are no good for tyres! - too many speed bumps around where I live - and, having to climb a high kerb at an awkward angle when maneuvering onto my drive
  3. You are correct. As per my previous post, DRLs only appeared on the facelifted model.
  4. Post could be renamed Russian mafia favourite cars!
  5. Surely if you are willing to spend £50k+ on a car, petrol consumption is not your primary motivator!!?? To get a true representation of the car's capability you need to test it in a variety of environments and conditions and yes, the engine will kick in more or less straight after starting the car and until everything gets up to running temperature. I hear you about full EV, Tesla etc. All very well but still very restricted in terms of range. To me, Lexus offers the best of both worlds... although a plug in hybrid would complete the range nicely.
  6. DAF Variomatic... wow... memories... my granddad had one of those...
  7. Do you reckon there are higher discounts on the 200T than on the 300h? - If so, I wonder if these discounts offset the increase in running costs (tax, petrol and insurance)
  8. I would not worry about mileage... these should all be considered low mileage... and focus on the condition, colour combination and spec. I always used to go for dark interiors, but my last two RXs have both had the cream/beige interior and I have not regretted it. I have found the leather to be of very good quality and easy to maintain... even with my wife new jeans leaving blue marks on it. These came off fairly easily. I would recommend that you go for dark matts though: they do not shock as they match the colour of the upper part of the dashboard. Premier, sport, luxury... it all depends on how many gadgets you want! - If you go to the top of the RX pages on the forum, take a look at the first entry from Colin Barber titled "RX450h - Series 3 - Equipment Specifications"... Hopefully this will help you make your mind up as to which to go for. Bear in mind that in terms of performance, the power train is the same for all three. The only difference is that the sport has slightly firmer suspension.
  9. Fatts... being one of the very few 200T drivers out there, you will have to give us a full report... I'd be interested to hear if performance is what you were expecting, and also what petrol consumption is like. Also, how do car tax and insurance prices compare to your previous GS450h?
  10. I would not pay too much attention to these capacity measurements, especially with a difference of around 20L. Shape and access are far more important as they will have a direct impact on useability: You can have a 500L boot that is less useable than a 350L one because of - for example - intrusion of the wheel arches.
  11. I really wanted the panoramic roof when I bought mine, but my two teenage sons complained about the restricted headroom during the test drive so decided to go for a car without.
  12. Inconsistencies not only with warranties but extend to servicing too. A few years ago, I had a SEAT 2.0 TDI. My brother had a VW Golf with exactly the same engine. My service intervals were 10k miles, his 20k miles. Go figure.
  13. What made you decide to go for the 200T rather than the 300h?
  14. Forget the car, I want that number plate!!!
  15. Note that in order to access some of the screens through the steering wheel buttons the car must be stationary.
  16. SatNav is good to have when it comes to resale though...
  17. Yep, Rayaan is correct. If this does not work for you, it could be that the battery was disconnected at some stage and the sun/moonroof needs resetting. Can't remember how to do this , but if you search the forum for "sunroof" you should pick it up.
  18. Try this... 1. tune the car radio into a frequency that is not in use. 2. tune the device to the same frequency. 3. connect your iPhone to the device... and hit play I have used something similar in the past and it worked OK, but you will find that you need to repeat the procedure as you travel around: What is an unused frequency in your area may be used by a local radio only a few miles away, and as you get within range of that radio station their signal will interfere with your own music.
  19. All electric vehicles are reputedly pretty quick off the mark and up to 30mph because power and torque are available straight away. I test drove a Renault Zoe, and it was very quick also... up to 30-40mph.
  20. I agree that the car is reliable, however you soon get the £1,000 back by getting fairly minor items sorted out, Items you might otherwise consider leaving with due to the cost of parts and labour. In today's money, £1,000 is not a lot of money, in particular where luxury brands are concerned. Under warranty, I have had replaced both taillights due to condensation and one mirror that would no longer darken. As pointed out above by Tom, other brands may have refused to pay out and put these faults down to wear and tear, but mine were replaced without quibbling. And I got a free courtesy car. And my car got valeted while at the dealer. And I am still covered for 2 years.
  21. Yes, go for it. The extended warranty is quite extensive and also covers things like the audio system and satnav... and reversing camera
  22. Definitely worth taking it to the dealer: the important thing is for the fault to be registered BEFORE the warranty expires. If it continues after that, you are more likely to get some good will gesture on the basis that it was reported within warranty.
  23. Did not like the 200T either. Too much hesitation when pulling out at junctions etc, and too much hunting around for the right gear once on the move. A missed opportunity. I wonder if the NX200t suffers from the same issues.
  24. If the batteries are housed under the boot, theoretically the boot in the 200T should be bigger, or at least there should be a split level boot. Not sure whether the batteries are under the boot, under the rear seat... or maybe both...
