  1. I have a similar car (SE-I), which is going for its 80k service this week. FYI I was quoted £465 by my local dealer, parts and labour for the service.
  2. Would the savings in running costs offset the cost of the conversion?
  3. True for all drivers coming from the continent. The one that gets my goat is British drivers who are quick to stick the beam converters onto their headlights before a two week trip to the continent... and then leave them in place the rest of the year after their holiday!
  4. So, how do you do it? - CAn you just pull the badges off?
  5. Have a look at the attached file, which was kindly sent to me (or posted on the forum... I can't remember) by another club member when I was looking to change from RX400h to RX450h... Lexus RX Series III.pdf
  6. You could always become a gold club member / supporter and get an extra discount!
  7. Things you didn't know you didn't know!...
  8. I have the same problem! - replacements can be had on eBay, but I have not yet looked long enough to identify the correct one. It seems that the gear knobs are interchangeable between Lexus models, and that there is plenty of choice out there but yes, £60 seems to be the going rate.
  9. Do your passengers ever complain about restricted headroom because of the panoramic roof?
  10. Thank you all for your useful feedback and comments. Sainsbury's has proved a dead end: their cameras do not cover the car park. Winchester council is proving very helpful and have sent us a form to complete, given us the choice to receive CCTV footage on DVD or CD. However we do not yet know for sure that the incident happened in their car park. I shall go to my local dealer on Saturday to see what they have to say about the damage... Graham, I may take you up on your offer
  11. I am not sure it is fair to compare the IS with an XF. It would be more appropriate to compare the IS with the XE and the GS with the XF.
  12. I was expecting not to like it, but actually, I do!
  13. I like it. Is that a Karman I can see in the background?
  14. Returning from a shopping trip in Winchester, my wife noticed that an inconsiderate driver had left a nice long scratch on the passenger side of our RX. Of course no details were left. I have two questions: - This happened either in a council-run car park, or in the car park of the local Sainsbury's. Is it worth asking to see / be sent CCTV footage to help identify the culprit? - Do councils and supermarkets do this? - Looking at the attached pix, do you think the damage could be polished off, and if so what is the best way to go about it? - Professional, or DYI? - The paint layer does not seem to have been broken, but on the other hand, there seems to be a slight dent. (The area has not been cleaned off yet, should we need to show it to a council official or supermarket security staff). Thanks for your comments and suggestions.
  15. Rom1, have you bought the full version of the Carista app? I looked into it before and decided against it because most / all the customizations I wanted to do required me to buy the full version and I decided I did not want to pay for something I would probably only use once.
  16. I guess a lot of the scores are driven by expectations vs reality and yes, MPG would certainly have an negative impact there. The in-car tech score does not surprise me. I feel that Lexus have rested on their laurels and have been / are being overtaken by the competition, in particular with regards to SatNav graphics and a less than intuitive interface, lack of integration with Android, etc... The number of drivers taking part in the survey is a very good point, and the Lexus scores are likely to based on far fewer entries than that of equivalent Audis and BMWs. Having said this, it may swing the scores in favour of Lexus just as it may go against them! All in all though, Lexus should be proud of the results. Selfishly, I just hope that the scores will not results in hordes of people swarming to Lexus dealerships. I want Lexus to retain some exclusivity! :-)
  17. The AUTO function means that the internal temperature will be automatically controlled, however this does not mean that the Air Con (A/C) compressor will be used: A common misconception is that A/C is used only to cool the car, which is incorrect as A/C is also used as a de-humidifier that helps keeping the windows clear of mist on damp and rainy days... even with the heating on. On this basis, A/C may not switch on on a dry cold day, as there is no requirement for the system to either cool the car, or to remove unwanted humidity. The AUTO function will keep the car warm, but the A/C compressor will not switch on. Hope this makes sense.
  18. Really? - Does it look any different? I'd bet the metal one will cost a lot more to replace though!
  19. Mine is Velvet Black and I agree, it is not easy to keep clean. My other car is white and far easier to maintain! You ought to enquire as to whether the car has been treated with a clear coat... it does help a lot.
  20. I totally agree that this must have been a shock and should not happen, etc. but unleaded petrol will not ignite from sparks or from a naked flame. Only in films. Edit: actually, I have been thinking since posting the above and I may be wrong. Pretty sure diesel will not ignite, but no longer sure about unleaded... After all, combustion engine... Spark plugs...
  21. Hit my trousers and shirt too! - Thankfully, did not smell. Thankfully we always have baby wipes in the car and I was able to clean it up before it dried up. Unbelievably... nothing on the outside of the car!
  22. Left work last night... beautiful weather... put my favourite tracks on and opened the window a crack while queueing in traffic... and look what happened... Should bring me luck for a while...
  23. You can also check out mrcarmats.co.uk They have a wide selection in terms of colours, trim and quality... but check the reviews before ordering.
