  1. Are you in a rush to change? - A face-lifted model is due out soon and there may be some good deals to be had on "old" stock...
  2. Good news and glad it's all worked out. Mine was covered by the extended warranty I purchased when I bought the car. Definitely worth it in my eyes.
  3. No need to go and spend that kind of money: there are plenty of free apps available for both iOS and Android.
  4. I remember having a similar problem with my 400h. It seems that with age, the angle gradually reduces. It certainly happen with both mirrors on my car. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend a fox as both mirrors were eventually replaced under warranty. Have you searched the forum? - I seem to recall that someone had offered a DIY fix for this.
  5. For those with a more modest budget, Renault is about to launch a revised Zoe with a whole new battery that should allow a 200+ miles range. I will be seriously considering it when replacing our second car.
  6. I have both a solid black and a solid white car, and the white car is far easier to keep clean than the black!
  7. To put things into context, our local taxi company now only run Toyota Prius', which as mentioned above use the same drivetrain as the CT. The owner says that it's the best decision he has ever made and swears that nothing has ever gone wrong on any of the cars. All he has to pay for is scheduled maintenance.
  8. Try and scrape this one off!
  9. I am a bit confused. I thought that, with the glasscoat, you are not supposed to polish. Also, I thought that you could not re-apply glasscoat to a small area, and that you have to first remove it from - let's say - the whole door, and then apply it again. This is to allow blending in and to avoid smears.
  10. Lovely car. Enjoy. Looking forward to your first report. What colour did you go for inside?
  11. I have to admit to using de-icer, mainly because the it is difficult to reach the middle of the screen with the RX. I agree, it often freezes again. I wonder if some are better than others, and also whether someone has found a reasonable alternative.
  12. Oh well, never mind. Thanks all the same. I wonder why so few manufacturers have opted to install heated windscreens, like Ford's. Such a brilliant, yet apparently simple solution.
  13. I don't get the cookie prompt either. I believe the issue may be related to your security settings, firewalls or other personal settings rather than the site itself.
  14. I asked my dealer about this when my RX was in for a service a few weeks ago. I was told that indeed, the design adopted by Lexus does not allow for water/moisture to be cleared by winding the windows down and back up. This is for two reasons: 1. to protect the rain-repellent coating on the front side windows 2. to prevent the glass from being scratched. This is apparently in response to customer feedback. (Before you argue this one out, bear in mind this is customers globally, not just in the UK).
  15. Excellent write up, thank you.
  16. Does the face-lift bring in additional power to either the 300h or the 200T?
  17. AS I am a helpful kinda chap, I have phoned my dealer and asked! I am told that they replaced the whole of the audio (head?) unit, and that this is a sealed unit. The replacement was a Lexus-approved re-conditioned unit and the cost of the exchange was £1553. Apparently a brand new unit would have cost in excess of £3000.
  18. I noticed that in the "Climate" menu of the RX450h, there is a "button" to switch some windscreen de-icing function on/off. The manual is a little confusing in the sense that it mentions that the bottom and edges of the windscreen can become hot to the touch when switched on, but does not actually suggest that it would de-ice the whole windscreen. Is this just to prevent the wipers from sticking to the windscreen? - in this case, why does this heat up the sides of the screen? Or does it actually de-ice the whole screen by some conductive process where the heat from the edges gradually spreads through the whole screen? Needless to say I have only just noticed this "button" and never used this function. This is not a menu I normally visit! Thanks in advance!
  19. Well would you believe it!? - After my comment of yesterday, I saw a black RC-F on the M3 near Winchester at 5.30 this morning!!!
  20. Never ever seen a RC on the road, so you would be guaranteed exclusivity. On the other hand, there must be reasons why the car isn't popular, despite its looks and cheapish running costs.
  21. ...also, cruise control will not work below a certain speed, which I believe is around 28mph (it's in the manual).
  22. Interestingly, the dealer mentioned that they consulted some database of documented (known?) problems that they have access to. They used the information they found in there to support the warranty claim.
  23. Frustrating isn't it? - You would think that in this day and age the clock would automatically update based on your GPS location.
