  1. Re the WALD body kit: I simply would not trust my wife with these wheels (sorry Lindsay!)
  2. The service plan does make a difference in the sense that it is inflation proof and also secures a discount (I think it is 15% but not sure). In addition - yes I know, I have mentioned this before! - by becoming a "Member" of this forum you will get 15% / 20% discount at most Lexus dealerships.
  3. You should never leave it on recirculate, and should leave it on Auto to do what it's supposed to do. Recirculate is only supposed to be used for short periods of time to either quickly cool or warm the car (in conjunction with the aircon), or if you are in a tunnel or following a polluting vehicle. Not sure about the CT, but the RX manages this automatically.
  4. Makes sense: cold weather hardens the tyres - at least until they warm up through driving - and therefore makes them less grippy. This is why winter tyres can be worth it in lower temperatures (7 degrees and below) as they have a higher rubber content and therefore remain softer (and quieter!). For the same reason, they will wear out quicker if used in warmer temperature though.
  5. I have tried different glass cleaners but always end up going back to hot water with a good dash of white vinegar and a good quality cotton cloth. I find that an old white t-shirt that has been washed a few times works best..
  6. Rayaan, you are not far off: Lexus have quoted me £175 for the rear and £350 for the front.
  7. Which part of the console are you referring to? - If it is the one under the armrest, this is normal. In fact it gets very cold in the summer when the aircon is on. As mentioned by Michael, it is to do with the heating/cooling going to the back.
  8. Someone left a nasty dent and scratch in the corner of the front bumper of our RX450h (pics to follow). Sigh. This is a week after someone left a scratch on the corner of the rear bumper and along the rear wing. Double sigh. I am wondering whether or not to get it fixed at my own cost... or claim on my insurance which currently has maximum no claims and protected bonus. Is there a threshold above which an insurance claim becomes the more cost effective option? Also, I am tempted to go to Lexus as, in my experience, their standards are pretty high. Should it matter, our RX450h is velvet black, i.e. non metallic. Would appreciate any advice.
  9. Could it be that the cream leather is more fragile than the black or red / dark rose one? - I would assume that the same quality leather is used, but could it be that the colouring process makes the cream one even softer? Also, do you use the easy entry/exit? - If you don't you will have less space to get in and out and therefore put more pressure on the side of the seat when getting in/exiting...
  10. Really? - Where? I am not aware of any hybrid battery related issue, so if I have missed any, pray tell. In response to the original poster, you should test drive both cars. They are very different and encourage different styles of driving. Apart from economy etc, the hybrid has a 4 cylinder engine and a CVT gearbox, whereas the 250 has a 6 cylinder engine and a conventional auto gearbox.
  11. Is the button stuck down? I know it has a spring underneath it because once, the button on my previous car "popped off" and I had to go and hunt around for the spring... which I eventually found on the back seat! It was just a matter of placing the spring into position and pushing the button back in place
  12. RX should be serviced every 10,000 miles, or every year, whatever comes soonest. Very low mileage is not always a good thing as it implies that the car has been used for very short journeys or has been sitting around for long periods. The interior may look pretty good, but it may have hidden problems: weak battery (not talking about the hybrid batteries here), sludge at the bottom of oil tank, perished tyres (and other rubber components such as wipers and door seals), seized calipers, stretched parking brake cable. I am sure our more technically minded contributors will be able to comment further. I would not write it off though... all the above should be picked up upon a close inspection.
  13. Excellent writ up. Again. Beautiful looking car. I too love the colour combination. Sonic-T looks much more exclusive than plain silver.
  14. I love the new leather option. Does it carry a price premium? I also like the sound of the new Premier Pack. I love the gadgets of the Premier, in particular the auto high-beam (not as good as the RX adaptive high beam though), adaptive cruise and HUD, but I have never been a fan of the Premier's looks, in particular because the wheels and grille don't particularly stand out. Having said that, £5700+ seems rather expensive.
  15. My aunt had several of these in a row. She was also an impatient lady and would never wait for the suspension to do its stuff before moving off. She once parked rather too close in front of a 2CV, which had a metal bumper with two vertical fenders (not sure it is the correct word) attached to it, and as the DS cooled down and lowered itself, its rear bumper "locked" with the front bumper of the 2CV. When she drove off later, she just ripped the front of the 2CV off!!!!
  16. Without wanting to be alarmist, there have been reported incidents of keys going missing... and cars being subsequently stolen off people's drives, sometimes weeks or even months afterwards. I am sure it is unlikely, but it is something you need to be aware of nonetheless. I would therefore make a fuss about it but leave it to the dealer to offer an acceptable solution... whatever this may be. However, I would recommend against putting forward any suggestion yourself as if the car still goes missing, the dealer may hide behind the fact that they acted upon your request/suggestion/recommendation and therefore cannot be blamed.
  17. I should have worded my question differently: Am I breaking any rule here? hmmm... not sure. Is it any different to having your foot on the brake pedal?
  18. "A bit of a joke". Why? I have made several claims against Lexus' warranty over the years, and I have never, ever had one rejected. In fact, I would go as far as saying that it is the best I have come across and one of the reasons I remain faithful to the brand.
  19. I see from the Lexus UK site that the NX F-Sport is now available in Solar Flare. Any takers?
  20. Should the warranty not cover this, I wonder if there is an appeal process you could go through. Also, it could be worth considering becoming a fully fledged club member, as you would then get 10-15% off to this and subsequent bills. Look here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/discounts
  21. Seems primarily related to the MK1 and in the US. Can't say I remember reading anything much about transmission issues in our Forum... and certainly nothing that would suggest an epidemic.
  22. Turning your own comments around: it might be VERY easy for you to come to a stop and put the parking brake on. It may not be as easy - for whatever reason - for others to do so. Brake lights on the RX are also very bright. However, the pedal set up is slightly different in the sense that you can actually rest your foot on the brake pedal without the brake lights coming on. I'll throw another one in: I have, on occasion, left the car in drive, but applied the parking brake rather than leaving my foot on the brake pedal. What rule am I braking here?
