  1. It does not suit everyone. I have friends who have worked from home for years and love it. Personally, I hate it. I need to be able to draw a line between work and home, although it is not always easy I am always on call (I work in Crisis Management and Business Continuity). Oddly, I find I am more productive in a work environment. Going back on topic... does working from home mean fewer miles and therefore a cheaper insurance quote for you?
  2. I bought and fitted Wiperblades.co.uk's own aerowipers... and I am disappointed: lots of noise and juddering and part of the screen does not get wiped on the driver's side. I have never had such problems with new wipers. Should I be more patient and allow for a bedding-in period? Update: I decided not to wait and contacted Wiperblades.co.uk who have offered a full refund upon receipt of the (faulty?) blades. I have decided to go back to the Bosch Aerotwins as I was very pleased with them.
  3. I pay ~£370 for mine, although the insurance is in my wife's name as she is the main driver. I always go through comparison websites at renewal times and I find I always get good offers as a new customer, much better than renewal offers I get from my existing insurance. I do wonder if Lexus insurance get any business at all: I also went for to them for a quote as it seemed the logical thing to do, but they were horrendously expensive. I think that high quotes are just a way of saying, "- sorry, not interested in insuring you, look elsewhere!"
  4. In terms of innovation, it is a shame that so many manufacturers - including - still insist on dashboards being covered in elephant hide looking plastic. Why oh why?
  5. Have you checked what options are enabled/disabled? - I once found that the estimated travel time for a familiar trip seemed far longer than usual because I had inadvertently disabled the use of motorways.
  6. I too would recommend the 450h, which is very refined. The 300h is a good car, but cannot compete from a performance perspective. MPG wise, not a huge difference because the 300h will make you pay for the performance you are looking for, whereas the 450h will take it in its stride. the F Sport has better and more sporty looks and offer colour combinations not available with other models. On the other hand, the Premier has ALL the toys... but is more expensive. As well as Autotrader, you should check the Lexus website. Cars may be a little more expensive, but Lexus dealers tend to only keep the best on their forecourts. For peace of mind, the warranty offered by Lexus dealers is excellent.
  7. Assuming that you noticed the problem and reported it early into ownership, and given the time it is taking to fix it, I would expect to be offered an exchange with a car of similar spec and mileage. Maybe it is time for you to seek (free at this stage) legal advice: your company lawyers may be able to help, the Citizen Advice Bureau, or even an organisation like the AA. You could mention to Lexus that you are doing so, not in a threatening manner, but so that they know you are not just going to take what they are telling you for granted. You could also mention that you are considering writing to motoring magazines (Top Gear or the like) to seek advice. I am sure that it will help your case as no manufacturer wants to see negative consumer reviews in mass publications. One last suggestion would be to send a letter, recorded delivery, to the head of Lexus UK with a few bullet points and your intended actions. I can add that this approach has worked for me in the past (with Mitsubishi at the time) and that a long standing issue was resolved within 3 days. I also got additional compensatiion for the inconvenience.
  8. Ah ah... no flashing lights so i guess neither! no Tango stickers either!
  9. Don't like the solid red. To me, the Sport only looks good in white.
  10. Is that Fuji Red? - don't see that colour very often...
  11. I don't doubt it and admire their ambition. I hope that their cars will become more and more affordable. I wonder how well they will retain their value on the second hand market. I guess that either they will very much be sought after, or that people will shy away from the new technology. They are certainly extremely popular in California. I was there recently on business I often saw 4 or 5 following each other on the motorway at commuting time. Having said this, I doubt that they are as popular in other US states where environmental issues are less of a concern...
  12. Are the doors likely to be a problem in an underground car park, or is there a way to stop them from going all the way up?
  13. I saw one! This weekend, travelling north on the A34... just north of Winchester. Certainly bright, but the thing I do not like is that somehow the colour hides the sharp creases of the NX... they just melt into nothing and rob the car of its character.
  14. Did not get tempted by a NX 200T then?
  15. There are so many parameters to consider, and not all of them related to your driving style. Traffic conditions, speed, temperature, weather, aircon, topology... to name but a few. I normally average between 28-29MPG (as per previous posts), drving normally... by my standards anyway. I tried to use ECO mode for a couple of weeks and saw my consumption rise to 31-21MPG. However I find that ECO mode compromises my enjoyment of the car too much. It is acceptable around town, or for a leisurely coutry drive, but it seriously blunts performance. I don't think it is worth it for the sake of a couple of MPG. Also, one of the reasons I bought an RX was because of its understated performance. What are your thoughts on the Cross Climate? - Or is it too early yet...?
  16. I have the same noise with my RX450h and previously on a RX400h. All normal. I would have to check, but I think the pads were changed on the RX450h at part of the 80k miles service.
  17. Black is such a pain to keep clean. My RX is black - solid black. Looks very smart with the cream leather, but never for long. I also think that the NX suits lighter metallic colours. When I swap for an NX, I think I will go for Sonic (metallic) white with red interior. Or blue with black!
  18. Good choice I think. Bright blue with the red leather may have been a bit too much.
  19. Ian, if you are familiar with Ultra Blue, Azure Blue is a shade lighter. It does stand out... but not in the way Solar Flare stands out! I think it is a bit different, but smart, and suits the NX nicely, in particular the F-Sport. What colour interior did you go for?
  20. Not for me, even though orange is my favourite colour. I think the Focus RS orange is nicer. At any rate, I think the novelty would soon wear off. I would also be concerned about resale. On the other it could be a steal as a second hand buy. Are Lexus Edinburgh asking full price?
  21. F-Sport with upgraded Nav. Worth the upgrade over the Luxury in my opinion: I think it looks better, and the LED headlights are just brilliant.
  22. It looks like the DRLs are longer than before... am I right?
  23. I agree on both counts. You will be missing out on a bunch of extras with the SE, and I would go as far as saying that it will make resale difficult. See attached. Lexus RX Series III.pdf
  24. I drove a NX Premier for a few days which had LKA. It does correct your steering, beep and make the wheel vibrate if you stray over the line without indicating. I thought it was a great feature... for the first hour. I then started to find it midly annoying. After a couple of hours I switched it off as an unnecessary gimmick. As Rayaan mentions, it comes as standard on the new RX. If you are thinking of a different car, it is worth noting that it is only one of a bundle of extras that come with the Premier package. You may find that the LKA is not worth having, but the other features included in the upgrade may be. For the NX premier - as an example - these include upgraded audio and satnav, radar cruise control, head up display, memory and ventilated seats for both driver and passenger, LED headlights (how and high beam) with auto beam, etc
