  1. At our last renewal, we took a policy with Admiral, and agreed to move our second car to Admiral also to benefit from the multi car discount. My second son is a learner driver, and I intend to take him out myself, starting on Sunday, so got him added to our second car's insurance. When I queried whether or not my No Claims Discount would be protected in the event that my son should have a prang, I was told that I did not have any NCD on our second car. It was explained to me that you can only have one No Claims Discount, and therefore that because both policies are in my name - even though I am the main driver of one car, and my wife is the main driver of the other - the NCD can only be applied to one car. This leads me to question the benefit of multi car policies... you seem get a discount for insurance more than one vehicle... but then loose out on protection... or so it seems! Adrian Flux? Comments?
  2. I like toys. The more toys the better. Having said this, some toys are more of a gimmick and once you have played with them a while, they start losing their appeal and you can soon get bored with them. The idea of them is great, but their application in the real world is somewhat limited. Still, I like the auto tailgate... and I would like if even more if 1) it was quicker, 2) it wasn't so noisy (it's almost embarrassing!), 3) it was fully automatic: I appreciate not having to get my hands dirty, but would appreciate it even more if I did not have to fish the keys out of my pocket to unlock it when laden with shopping bags. Why not have a system similar to the Ford Kuga's where you can wave your foot under the bumper to trigger the open/close mechanism. (I believe that, with the 4RX, you can wave your hand in front of the tailgate badge to open it... but that this is not available in the UK. Why not!?)
  3. How does Dodo Juice fare on perforated leather?
  4. I had mine replaced over the xmas period by my local dealer at a cost of £143 (they provided the bulbs but did not charge for labour) after one of the bulbs failed. I must say that it did make a huge difference.
  5. Quite frankly, the system works best if you leave it in auto mode. Unless you need to defrost/demist the windscreen, I'd leave it be.
  6. Actually, you have clarified something for me: yesterday the sun shone brightly for the first time since I collected my car, and I noticed that the white paint sparkled - or shimmered! - under the sun... which confused me and made me wonder whether my car might be Sonic White rather than F-White.
  7. Yes this is normal behaviour in auto mode, and as you have discovered, you can override it with the directional button.
  8. My current NX seems to have far fewer creaks an rattles than my previous 2 RXs. The noise coming from the rear seat of the 3RX when unoccupied was horrendous. I tried to change the angle of the backrest and to slide the seat back or forth, but it made no difference.
  9. I have used Lexus' satnav in three different cars over the years and I have always found the system reliable and accurate. The only few times I had issues were my own fault... like forgetting to in-tick "Avoid Motorway"... as mentioned above by Graham.
  10. Hmmm... she did pass comment on the way back from the hospital... Thanks to the road noise, I pretended not to hear.
  11. Don... you are replying to a post that is well over a year old... so you may not get a response from the OP.
  12. I thought street view might be quite handy? Still very much like the car. It is a lot more nimble than the 3RX and while performance is not as swift, I find it sufficient. Also, I tend to prefer the firmer ride. Admittedly, I have been on my own in the car for the past 10 days apart from giving the boys the odd lift (my wife is recuperating from an operation on her back). Not yet had the time to fix the vibrating rear number plate, but I have turned the bass down a notch in the mean time. MPG has been rather good - for me at least! - at 34MPG and considering 50% motorway.
  13. @keywest you may also want to browse the Lexus website second hand section and check the pics for colours and wheels. Models within the range differ in looks: for instance the F-Sport has a mesh grille, specific wheels and full LED front lights with LED fog lamps that also work as cornering lights The Premier has the LED lights, but a different grille and wheels, and different colour options, the Luxury has different lights, and the Sport is a de-chromed version... Etc. Re your original post: F-Sport white is flat, whilst sonic white is pearlescent.
  14. I agree. This stuff is brilliant. Works well, and smells wonderful.
  15. Have all of them gone at the same time? - If so, could it be a fuse (or something else) rather than the bulbs?
  16. Does one need any kind of degree or other qualification to drive one? - Or is a standard driving licence good enough? ;-)
  17. Four days in... ...and I love the car. I find it extremely comfortable, I very much like the layout, the new toys (I had not realised that the car has radar cruise control) and the pan roof, and I am still in love with the looks and colour combination (I will post pics at some stage if and when it stops raining!). No issues with performance to date, and I find the car a lot "tighter" when negotiating roundabouts. However, I can see that the car does not like steep hills much, and I have not yet had rear passengers for any lengthy trip. Two things I miss from the RX: 1. The relative silence. The NX does not have laminated windows so you hear outside traffic a lot more, and road noise is A LOT louder. Could be related to the Yokohama EOM tyres, which I will replace with Michelin Cross Climates when the time comes. No doubt I will get used to it within a few more days. 2. The NX door bins are tiny!!! - Not very wide and very shallow. Two things I need to sort out / get sorted out: 1. Connected services. Are they worth the effort / hassle? 2. An annoying rattle coming from the back when playing "bassy" music. Another thread on this forum suggests that this may be related to the number plate (mine is fixed with screws rather than tape). So far so good... :-)
  18. You might get a better response moving your post to the GS forum...
  19. All good suggestions and I will no doubt buy a charger for the car. It's just a shame not to be able to use the charging tray since it's there. The phone will actually charge if I place it in a specific way, but then I cannot close the armrest!
  20. Any comment on those? Useful, or just a gimmick?
  21. Good to know. Thanks Rayaan. I should find out the cost on Saturday and will report back. Not sure I will go for it as I may not need it: my new phone seems to last a lot longer on a full charge that my previous one ever did.
  22. Well, I recently changed, and I can recommend the LG V30. Good deals on mobiles.co.uk The phone does not fit flat in the tray and sticks out, however if position correctly it does charge. My concern is that, as it does not fit flat in the tray, it is likely to move while travelling and stop charging without me knowing about it. I have now quizzed dealer who promised to look into this. I will have more info when I pick the car up at the weekend.
  23. I agree. Where the previous model was massive and imposing, the new one is more elegant and refined. You have to be a Lexus fan though: that grille is HUGE!
  24. Went to my local dealer this morning, to put my signature on a new buy. They recently received a 2018 LS. My oh My, what a car! - It looks so much more impressive "in the flesh" that in pictures. So much presence. It looks like a concept car that really should not be on the road! And the interior is just... wow... :-)
  25. The facelifted NX comes with a larger charging tray which accommodates larger phones, such as the iPhone Plus, Samsung S8+ and other LG v30 (mine!), which do not fit in the MK1 charging tray. Does anyone know whether it is possible to replace the 1NX charging tray with the one now fitted in the 2NX? Thank you.
