I paid £1300 for a mk3 sourced by Steve back in 2013 just had it resprayed recently and wheels refurbed at a cost of £1900 which is the most I have ever spent on the car in one go . Why you might ask? Well quite simply it has been the best car I've ever bought and I've had many, not once in my ownership has it ever left me stranded therefore I felt it deserved this little bit of TLC before it gets its major service next week. My kids think I'm mad spending money on Lexie (they call it the Sexlus) when I have a Jaguar and Disco 4 they just think I'm a sentimental old codger which maybe I am but nothing comes close to the comfort that this car delivers on long journeys and the fact its so reliable just adds to the satisfaction of being an Ls400 owner.. Its fabulous especially now with its new makeover

Hi Malc. The car is sitting with 98,000 miles on the clock, still love driving her on a daily basis. The wifes Suzuki got a major service with 2 new tyres and front discs but the biggest cost was a new exhaust , apparently the baffle inside the exhaust collapsed causing an engine management issue whereby the car was difficult to start. I never thought about a recall but would Lexus entertain such a claim and is there an online check for this? , the reg is M760 EPV maybe you would know better than me how to do it.

Had the old girl for nearly three years and 32,000 miles and apart from fuel and 3 services she hasn't cost me a penny until now . Went out yesterday morning to pick up the papers at the newsagent turned the key only to get the dreaded clicking noise and it appears the starter has packed up after 22 years...absolutely shocking state of affairs and Lexus should be ashamed of themselves !!! anyway, new one being fitted on Tuesday for £475 which is apparently a swine of a job requiring removal of the cylinder head to get access. All things considered I don't think I've much to complain about as she once again passed her annual MOT in August without a single advisory in fact she hasn't had any in the 3 years I've had her which is more than I can say for the rest of my cars including a 3 year old Porsche Cayenne!! The crazy thing is the wife said to me yesterday instead of spending money on the "hearse" why not trade it in for something better and that after me having just forked out £800 on a service and repairs to her 4 year old Suzuki Swift!!! .... think I might sleep in the spare room from now on

No chance Steve although he did ask!!!! -
A very good friend of mine is now desperately looking for a good clean MkIII or MkIV having driven my own car this afternoon he was absolutely gobsmacked at the level of quality and driving pleasure in a car that has just past it's 20th birthday . Anyway, I told him to go and troll the classifieds to see if there is anything half decent that would be worth a look and I said I would ask anyone on here if they knew of any good cars for sale.

Tyres Again.

I told my insurance broker that I fitted Vred Wintracs which are H rated onto my Rx they in turn put a note on file with the Insurance company who in turn confirmed that everything was fine . I think the moral is tell your insurance company everything and nine times out of ten you will be fine -
Disappointed

Hi Pete. Congratulations on your purchase I'm sure you will enjoy the Rx experience...I certainly do. What I will say is that as good as the Rx is the build quality is nowhere near that of my mkIII Ls 400 and this was recently confirmed when both cars were on the ramp at my local garage . The mechanic couldn't believe that a 20 year old car which is used daily could be so clean and rust free whereas the 2006 Rx in comparison is showing much more in the way of corrosion -
Rx400H On Battery
wackyjim replied to Gliderpilot's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Not uncommon for this to happen at start up in colder weather especially if heaters etc are being used, although I thought you might have seen at least some battery useage particularly if in slow moving traffic once the car is up to temp?... -
There's no right or wrong here It's true that any dual purpose item by it's very nature will be a compromise to anything that has been designed for a specific role including winter/all season/summer tyres ,however R&D manufacturing processes have come a long way making these compromises less of an issue. In essence although trials still show a % difference that difference is really quite hard to detect in real world driving conditions making all season tyres a good "compromise" choice for us here in what is a relatively temperate Britain...for me? happy to run Vred Wintracs all year on the Rx400 and prefer 2 sets of tyres Summer then Winter for my LS400 but that's just my personal choice :winky:

2016 Lexus Rx Spied!
wackyjim replied to rayaans's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
^ Agree with this... the 2016 model will get nowhere near 50mpg but probably closer to what the RX450 was meant to be -
No...Don't whatever you do mix the two they have different characteristics and could invalidate your insurance, I recently bought 4 Vredestein Wintrac 4Xtreme tyres for my Rx400 and will keep them on all year round. I have used these tyres on my Range Rovers with no reduction in grip or performance and there is plenty of online evidence to back this up, I believe you can do the same with Nokian WR SUV 3 tyres as well
