  1. Hi there, Just wondering where exactly is the fuel line at the front located? Is it by any chance reachable if removing underhood plastic in the top left corner (under car)? Asking as I just noticed this weekend when returning to the car from a hike around Ivinghoe Beacon that the plastic was loose and one plastic screw anchor was on the ground... Strange that it fell of just like that when car was parked... I'm not sure where the pipe was exactly. Local Lexus dealer tells me that there is a problem with parts under the RX400/RX450 being removed by unscrupulous people for resale. They reckon they do not leave display RXs outside with their Cat Convertors still fitted as they have been targeted a number of times. There are a certain type of people around their location who are renowned for being thieving B*****ds. Be warned. With regard to fuel consumption the RX450 still returns between 28 and 30 mpg around town, and similar on the motorway. I had a blowout on the offside rear and had to drive 150 miles on the space saver at 50 mph. Best consumption was 38 mpg overall. Still love the car but I wish the mpg was as claimed by Lexus.
  2. Hi I have had an RX450 SE-L Premier for a few months now and I absolutly love it. I upgraded from an RX400h. The one thing that I would like to see improve is the mpg. When driving the RX400h I noticed that when lifting off the throttle there was little if any engine braking, caught me out a couple of times when approaching junctions etc., my RX450h however has very noticable engine braking. I am beginning to wonder if this may well be a factor in the mpg I am achieving (between 28 and 32). EV mode also seems very difficult to keep going for more that a very short time, starting from stopped is difficult regardless of how light the touch on the throttle. Has anyone any thoughts on this?
  3. I parked at a nearby pub overnight a week ago and walked home. This is a country village in a good area. Ever since I started smelling petrol when starting up or exiting the car. Local Lexus dealership said it was something to do with injection system re-circulating when cold. As it was happening when hot I tokk it in and requested they look at it. A rather shamefaced Service Manger later informed me that someone had tried to remove the fuel line at the engine end an had almost suceed. He then went on to say that this sort of thing as well catalytic converter stealing is common on the RX, to the extent that if they leave one outside on display overnight they remove the CAT. Just a word of warning, in the current economical climate these people will steal anything, and even possibly put you at risk. Is anyone else aware of this danger?
  4. Just done the trip to Stoke on Trent and back again, 130 mile round trip with the tyre pressures at 38 front and 42 rear, no significant difference, 32 mpg apart from a harder ride. Set them back to 34 all round. I noticed a smell of petrol this week when entering and at times leaving the car, Lexus said it was normal when cold?????. Got them to look at it today, it appears that some T**t has tried to get the fuel line off at the engine end, Lexus now say the car is un-drivable and a replacement pipe is required. Just as well I insisted.
  5. I had a similar experience the other day. Drove from the Wirral to Stoke-On-Trent and back. Outside temp 7 degrees, cruise at 70/75 all of the wayo on the motorways, returned 31.4 mpg. Not bad for a car this size but dissapointing when compared to claimed mpg. Is there a way to reset the system. I remember there was such a procedure for the Rx400h. I also noticed that my RX400 was much better when the outside temperature was higher. On another thread on this forum, a person says he keeps his tyre pressures at 38 psi front, 42 psi back and gets the quoted figures. Worth a try I suppose, but must be careful about tyre wear and more importanly the handling and adhesion to the road. Think I will try this today and report back in a short time.
  6. I know this might sound strange given my original comments, but as I work away a lot I have not driven a great deal at night in this car. Last night I noticed that most of the time they are as bright as normal but I believe that the settings might be too high. I am going into my local dealership and ask them to check the alignment as that is the problem I believe. Thanks again for all your comments and putting up with my dumbness..........;0)
  7. Hi again, just found specs on-line, says that it should be standard fit on a SE-L Premier, not sure if that is the latest model or my 2010 one.
  8. Hi Guys Not had the car long, so I have not got to grips with everything on her. I just noticed that at night it did seem darker than my previous RX400, even though it has the adaptive lighting. It is 2010 SE-L Premier, not sure what lights are fitted and as I work away can't even look until I get home. Does anyone know what the spec on this year should be?
  9. I have just changed up to an RX 450 from a RX400h. My only disappointment is that the headlamps are not as bright as those on the RX400, anyone else noticed this? Cheers John
  10. Hi Guys Duncan was correct I'm ashamed to admit. The auto-lock had come on, and although the drivers door was open the other doors were still locked dohhhh. Now works fine. Many thanks for your help guys, John
  11. Hi I've just upgraded from a RX400h to RX450h, the tailgate will close via the button on the tailgate butr will not open via the button on the dashboard. I just get two beeps, anyone any ideas please? John
  12. Has anyone else had this problem, I was reversing when the camera picture became scrambled, lines and static on the picture then completely went black. Taking out of reverse picture returned OK to map display, putting back in reverse same thing happened. Switched off and tried again later everything back to normal and it has not happened since. Vehicle still in warranty so might ask Lexus Chester their opinion, just wondering if this is the start of something.
  13. Hi I am interested to hear if the LED lamps are an improvement and if so where did you get them? Cheers
  14. Just picked up my RX400h today, super car very impressive and a million miles better than the Honda CRV, which although a good car was under powered and very thirsty. Can't wait to drive it some distance.
