  1. Pound shop small screwdriver set, but check size of small philips before buying as they vary a lot - I have 3 sets, but only one has a philips small enough.
  2. Strange about the tunnel, there are plenty of diy lpg installations on campervan/motorhomes, and they are allowed through. I thought there was talk of relaxing the rules a couple of years back, but obviously that didn't happen. Anyway, thanks Mike for your long post, not at all boring, more info the better imo.
  3. Thanks to you both, very helpful, easier and cheaper than I was expecting.
  4. Bluesman, can I ask if you have any negative points regarding lpg conversion as a whole, insurance for example, or anything particular to LS. I'm taking as read you are happy with profess, having read your posts on this subject.
  5. That's a tad concerning, will have to look in to it. edit - just looked at their faq - first question Q: Are our conversion certificates accepted by the DVLA? A: Yes we are recognized http://www.professautogas.co.uk/faqs.html
  6. Sorry, just come off phone, nothing doing I'm afraid. I asked based on three conversions, the response was they were already on special offer at £1150, so best he could do would be a tankful of gas each, not really worth the hassle of organising anything imo. Never mind, it was worth a try.
  7. I had a lovely two tone blue 1986 Camry saloon, passed on to my dad when I'd finished with it, never cost us a bean apart from service items. They did do estate versions of that model and the one after, and I believe the Camry was the best selling car in America for a few years running.
  8. I probably will in the next month. There was a post from a new member earlier today mentioning servicing one of his three lpg vehicles in Cardiff, so possibly Profess. I did post on another thread about the possibility of a discount if a few of us got together, but there was no interest. I might give em a ring anyway, no harm in asking.
  9. As per the title, what is the cheapest/easiest/best way to play Mp3 music through the standard mk4 stereo/sat nav system? Previously I've always replaced standard gear with something more modern, but as the LS has a 6 cd facility, I'll just convert to wav files if mp3 capability is too costly. I have no portable mp3 player at the moment.
  10. Plenty for sale on ebay Steve, check out some pics. Edit - good news, just looked at the one posted on here a few days back - same as yours to my eyes. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280836087637?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_39246wt_1404
  11. Couldn't agree more. I've actually considered a Kia Sportage but length wise it's just too short for my work. Which brings me back to something I said ages ago. I wish, like Mercedes and BMW, Lexus had made a big estate! Oh God yes, something like the Chrysler 300c with ls 400/430 running gear would be fantastic. I had a Datsun 280c estate and borrowed a Toyota Crown estate back in the early 80s - cracking cars apart from rotting like pears!
  12. Without wishing to become involved in any arguments, I'm also a fan of fresh air as opposed to aircon, though I favour sunroof when possible/comfortable. I do like the look of deflectors on some cars though, and if they do the intended job as well, then why not?
  13. I get the joke, but if my mates new Kia Sportage is anything to go by, they are improving fast. It really is a very nice car, well finished, competitively priced, and seven year warranty.
  14. That doesn't really apply here surely, he can't restock an identical used car. Personally I wouldn't buy from them, partly due to them closing their account and restarting under a virtually identical user name, but mainly due to cars apparently being sold then reappearing on a regular basis. Some of the feedback on their previous account wasn't too clever either.
  15. Check it's mot history via govt web site, check with any dealers who have stamped the service book, if no book ring Lexus. Trace previous owner in book and ring them.
  16. Having owned three Accord estates, a coupe and a saloon, I've nothing bad to say about any of them. The 2.0 and 2.2 petrols were fine, though not particularly economical, the 2.2 diesel is a cracker though. If you're considering a V6 coupe, I believe they had gearbox problems, you'll find plenty about it on American Honda forums.
  17. Many thanks. If you then put Lexus in the search box, the 430 makes more comebacks than Sinatra!
  18. Can you enlighten me please Mike? How can I bring up their completed sales?
  19. Pretty sure this car was for sale when I first looked at ls400/430 on ebay. It was listed as an auction and classified at the same time, supposedly selling for £2-3K from memory. This was months ago, when the vendor had a slightly different username, now defunct. Also, they recently listed a 400 they had taken in p/ex against a 430, which I assumed was the one on this thread.
  20. Following advice on here, I removed my seal, thoroughly cleaned both the seal and the lip on the car, blowing out the seal and leaving overnight to dry, then refitted using silicone mastic. So far so good, boot is bone dry.
  21. Couldn't agree more, anything with poor grammar and spelling is an immediate turn off, as is lack of detail regarding mileage, previous owners and service history. Another thing I don't get, why do people not clean their cars before offering for sale or even part ex? Even hard nosed traders at auctions are attracted by a super clean car, and if you're going to the trouble of taking plenty of photos, at least make sure under bonnet, boot area and inside door frames are clean, as demonstrated by the ebay car - makes all the difference.
  22. I've just got off the phone to a very helpful lady at Countrywide lpg department. Their current price is 70.8p a litre to account holders. You get a keycard to operate the pump for which you pay £5 deposit, that being the only cost above the gas you use. She said that they make every effort to absorb small increases and hold a steady price (she mentioned only 2 increases in the last year I think), but commented on the latest prices to them from the suppliers being significantly higher, she also mentioned Morrisons being below what they could manage at the moment, which I thought was refreshingly open and honest of her. She also mentioned a price freeze possibility for 3 months on new accounts. The downside is that, despite the name, they are not country wide yet, operating in the midlands, south west and Wales.(sorry bluesman!) List of sites here http://midlshir02.uu...mplete_list.htm I'll certainly be getting an account when I convert, if only for the 24 hr facility, and they are in areas I tend to frequent.
  23. Ls not exactly flying off the shelves either!!
  24. Just wondering, has anybody ever enquired about a group buy discount at an installers like Profess? My plan was to run the car for a while until I'm sure I have a good 'un, then possibly convert to lpg. Are there any others considering converting at the moment?
  25. If using Timpsons, shop around, as they vary greatly on prices. I was quoted twenty odd quid and forty odd at two different Timpsons to replace the same watch glass.
