  1. I carry mine in the boot too. Frankly, I don't trust the alternatives - puncture kit or spacesaver spare. I'd rather do without the caravan spare wheel and carry the Lexus spare in the caravan. You could save some weight by not carrying a full tank of petrol, maybe only half filling it, especially as you'll obviously be using the lpg as much as possible.
  2. I tested my sunroof drainage by pouring water in to the corners with the roof open, and the car positioned on the hill to make each corner the lowest, one at a time. Doesn't need much pouring to see it exiting under the car (hopefully).
  3. Ah, I see now - I had the wrong perspective on it - looked to me as if it was stuck to the dash.
  4. Nice shine, as you say, roll on the warmer weather. What's that on the passenger side dash?
  5. You did absolutely the right thing, sounds an absolute shed.
  6. LEXUS LS 400 4.0 4 Doors, Saloon, Petrol, Automatic, Green, Margin RegistrationR765KVV Registration date02/01/1998 Mileage337647 Not Warranted ColourGreen Equipment V5 - 2 OWNERS , Navigation System , Sunroof , Leather Trim , Alloy Wheels , Srvc Bk - 14 srvc 6 main dlr , Last Srvc - 11/10 285k Going through on 15th Feb and should be very cheap with those miles, not a great looker either. Could be good for parts if it goes for next to nowt. You can view it on BCA website, but you will need to join (no need to be trade or anything, and free). The appraisal page made me laugh - most cars have a dozen or so faults listed, scratches, dints etc - the LS just says numerous.
  7. Here you go http://www.discovery...web/fifth-gear/ Thanks Mike, three out of four not bad, and beats the hell out of the TG trio imo.
  8. Everything you get from a main dealer includes a percentage to pay for their overheads, which are considerably more than an ebay seller knocking them out from his bedroom. All very nice to be cosseted and fed coffee while your pride and joy is serviced, but nothing is for free in this life. Pound shops are good places for batteries, often branded as well as cheap.
  9. I put new batteries in both of mine with no problem - it's mkIV but probably the same.
  10. I posted about it six years ago on a forum, can't recall which one now, might have been digital spy, and there were quite a few people who had the same experience. To make matters worse, customer service phone line was a nightmare, in terms of time hanging on and cost. Anyway, on a happier note, who are the presenters now?
  11. still looking i'm afraid, lot of 400's out there but so far only found a lot of cheap rubbish, a lot of "on the edge" and a few ok but overpriced. Got one more to look at shortly that might be an ok car at an ok price. to be honest if i dont come up trumps soon i'm tempted to look at an early ls430 - but the air sussy issues scare me off a bit. maybe i should be looking at a GS!!! (lots of nice ones out there at good prices) any tip-offs appreciated..... I was in the same boat as you about 12 months ago. Initially I was thinking LS430, but joined here, asked advice and read loads of LS threads, and worried about the same issue as you, namely the suspension. Hence I ended up with the 400, and I'm very very happy with it.
  12. Yes indeed! I've got the C31 model :) Have you got one too? Not for a while now, my last one was same model as yours 81(X) 2.4 - I gave it to my dad in 1990 and he ran it for another twelve years. We ran the earlier model as taxis in the 80s, must have had at least a dozen of them, all bought at auction, hardly a fault between them and they all went over 200,000 without a major mechanical failure. We bought the first one at BCA Brighouse, mainly because we couldn't find a decent Cortina or Granada on the day. T reg 2.0 with under 10k miles, absolutely as new, and ran like a Rolls Royce - I'd never really noticed them before, but boy was I smitten from then on. The majority of my cars since have been Japanese. Sorry for going off topic...........erm.............. we used to fit conway remould snow tyres to our Laurels as soon as the white stuff appeared - there, back on topic.

    That looks in lovely condition.
  14. Sorry I cant help you without Sat TV. Mike Murdochs shower demanded I send my dads death certificate before they'd cancel his subscription - they'll never see a penny of my money.
  15. Didn't know it had moved channels, but did think it had been a while since it had been on C5. Oh well, I only have freeview, so will have to wait for Dave to screen it. Unless Ford or Lovejoy come back, in which case I'll paint a door and watch it dry.
  16. Remote battery needs changing maybe? Worth a go for what they cost.
  17. Yes, they are fitted with a cut off at around 80% of capacity, so your 82L tank will cut off around 65L
  18. Yep, just found the thread. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=76426&st=45
  19. That might have been it Steve - not that there was a problem filling, more that some stations weren't happy about the adaptor. As I said, I can't recall the exact details - they are on here somewhere though.
  20. I think there may be a problem with that fitting option, I'm sure it's been mentioned on here before. Sadly, my memory is not up to the task of remembering what it was.
  21. No she came with those and they have stood the bad weather well. I was going to go for a refurb of the wheels as I have one really bad wheel but looking at it I think it would be a waste of money. I need to find out if the one wheel can be done and that it will match the others. About a year ago I bought a set of refurbished wheels on Ebay but quite frankly my dog who has been blind and deaf from birth could have done a better job. I drove all the way to Liverpool and it was chucking it down with rain so never looked at them properly but when I got them home the true mess they were in was apparent. He had tried to spray them and I can only assume he did them when he was paralytic. They have been in our utility room waiting for me to do something with them but I'm undecided. All the tyres are rubbish. Mike I think these wheels are very ordinary with a paint finish, if I'm honest, but when polished look quite classy. I would guess that might be a pricey job though.
  22. It's like it never happened, well done. I see you still have the polished finish on your wheels Mike, quite rare not to be painted from what I've seen on ebay etc. Did they come to you like that, or did you refurb them?
  23. Give these guys a ring, I bought a door off them yesterday and they had quite a few LS parts hanging around, alternatively that ask mikeyv on here as he has just bought a set of wheels off them and may now have a spare. Good luck with your hunt. Mike 07584 089 170 Mikey beat me too it. You're spending too much time with VBH But I'm really enjoying myself. Mike Just don't let her drive your car, or you may be back at pitbulls.
  24. I'm sorry but where does the Pajero come into the picture. Warranty statement quite a few people do that including me when I sell a car just to cover yourself. I hadn't seen the MOT age but as you suggest ask him and see what reaction you get. Mike Check his feedback Mike, he's flogged a lot of them. In fairness, he probably should declare himself as a trader, but it is pretty obvious from the advert style, and of course his feedback. Agreed on the mot and service history, though apart from that, nice looking car. I wouldn't travel the length of the country to see it, but if it was reasonably close, I wouldn't rule it out either.
