  1. See post 2 above for the probable explanation, he was probably changing the vehicle. He was still doing that 2 days before he bought the car. I have had no replies to my queries so I assume he realises the Lexus Mafia are onto him Mike Yes, but he changes cars on the same classified ad, as one sells, he changes all details to a completely different vehicle. So the change you refer to may well be for a different car. Here is a link to an earlier auction of his, check how many revisions he made. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300914205146?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Link to revisions list http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemRevisionDetails&_trksid=p2047675.l2569&rt=nc&item=300914205146

  3. I'm surprised ebay let him get away with his method of selling. Basically he sells numerous cars on one classified ad by changing all details when a car sells, to a completely different vehicle, until that sells, then all change again. Check how many revisions he makes, I noticed because I had one of his auctions saved in my ebay, everytime I checked it was a different item, I thought I was going nuts, until I twigged what he was up to. In fairness, a couple of his cars have looked good, but I'd certainly be cautious, as with most traders.
  4. That's right Malc, they were pretty popular, and still available new it seems. Put boot luggage rack in ebay search, and there are plenty to choose from, new or S/H.
  5. Maybe too late for Friday, but I used to have a boot rack in my taxi days, to make up for the loss of boot space due to lpg tank. I also used it on a MGB roadster for holiday luggage. It was alloy framed with wooden slats, and adjustable clamps that gripped the side edges of the boot lid. Not as capacious as a roof rack, but better than nowt. Not sure if they are still about though, will take a gander on ebay later.
  6. These cars, like other LS models before them, are primarily motorway munchers. As such, despite the considerable weight of the car, components like ball joints have a fairly easy life, travelling mostly in relatively straight lines. I've only been to Jersey once, in the early 70s, but doubt the tight and windy roads will have changed much, so giving the ball joints a much tougher existence over their 40k miles. Still seems a bit of a short life for such an expensive car, but maybe the above is a contributing factor?
  7. Hi Jeff, I'll either service it myself, or use a good independent if I don't feel like reaching for the spanners. You're right though, some garages are reluctant to work on lpg vehicles apparently, and I believe I've read on here that some Lexus dealers won't, while others will. Just need to shop around I guess. As to using LPG, it took a while to get it running right, with a few trips back to the installer, but now it's great......indistinguishable from petrol, and cheaper of course.
  8. Sorry, I'm on LPG, but different model. Welcome to the LOC anyway.
  9. RTFM = Read the Fudging Manual (substitute F word of choice for Fudging) Apologies for making a mess of the quoting.
  10. Which brings me back to something I posted moths ago. "Anyone found any buttons they didn't know they had?" I only discovered last week that my sun roof ( sorry, moon roof) tilts as well as slides! Never discovered that mine doesn't have the sun/moonroof. Well you haven't missed much. I think I mentioned on this forum a couple of days ago, I was parked under a tree in the shade with the sun/moon roof open and got crapped on! I see you're from Sussex, you weren't near Screwfix in Eastbourne were you? I was there on Friday, looking through their catalogue in blistering heat, so with all windows and roof open. Never seen so many seagulls, no wonder all the buildings have roofs like concentration camps. I didn't get crapped on btw, but I think I was very lucky. Then last night, having knocked the kitchen wall down, I took my pizza and cider outside to get away from the dust. The sods were dive bombing me from all angles and squawking to tell their mates there was food about. Luckily for them my guns are locked up 200 miles away, or I'd have been sorely tempted to thin down the gull population, probably closely followed by a visit from an armed response unit!!
  11. Mine also dips the drivers side if you switch to the passenger side, bet yours will too. I discovered a new one on me last night. The seat belt receiver lights up when the corresponding door is opened, in the front at least.......didn't try the back.
  12. Not exactly an illuminating reply. So, is the ad genuine? And how did Mike arrive at completely different conclusions to me, having followed the same links? ie no cars for sale, no sign of them on google earth, not a main dealer etc, etc. Very odd, but I've probably used up enough of my life looking at it now.
  13. I just put "Lookers Lexus" in google. Result New & Used Lexus in Hatfield | Lookers Lexus www.lookers.co.uk/lexus‎ New and Used Lexus in Hatfield available at Lookers Motor Group. Established for over 30 years, Lookers Group can offer you great deals on Lexus vehicles as ... Lexus Hatfield Lookers Lexus Hatfield offer a wide range of new and used ... New Cars New Lexus in Birghton and Hatfield available at Lookers ... Note the spelling of Birghton, which I seem to recall has now not got a Lexus dealer? Your email reply, should it actually arrive, may well be a challenge to read Mike.
  14. I'm not sure why my link doesn't work for you Mike. Anyway, I just got to the same two cars for sale at Lexus Hatfield, but this time I did it via Lexus uk as a starting point. If there is a con going on here, I'm unsure as to how it would work, given that they give the correct post code for Lexus Hatfield when inviting you to view. Maybe they are planning an ambush? If I remember, I'll give them a ring tomorrow.
  15. Sorry Mike, but I have checked before posting. There is a Main Lexus dealer there, next to the Audi premises, and it is Lexus Hatfield, as I posted. Lexus Hatfield Directions Write a review Address: 172 Great North Rd, Hatfield, Hertfordshire AL9 5JN Phone:01707 252100 Hours: Tuesday hours 08:30–18:30 - See all Reviews 1 Google review Just checked their site, both cars in ebay ad are for sale there http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/dealer/get-cars.aspx
  16. I doubt it's fishy, as the seller seems to be a main Lexus dealer(Hatfield). More likely they've made a complete and utter hash of the advert. Zero feedback is normal these days for motor dealers, as classified ads attract no feedback.
  17. Naughty naughty! Yes they were heady days if only we knew then what we know now, I also had the hard top and I can remember wondering what the weather was going to be to see if it was going to rain as the soft top was rubbish at keeping the weather out. I couldn't even fit into one today but every time I see one especially in yellow it takes me back to those long and happy days. I fitted an 8 track into it but wired it with a plug on so it could be taken out easy as there was no way you could secure anything in the car. Mike. Another frogeye owner here. Security was non existent mainly due to not having exterior door handles, or any form of doorlocks iirc. Sliding windows allowed access to interior door opener wire. Not a fan of 8 tracks either, damned things always stretched on mine, Diana Ross sounded like Jim Reeves.
  18. Well put. If anybody ever sees me in something like this, for Gods sake shoot me.
  19. Try another key if you have one, failing that put a new battery in the key maybe? Might be neither of these things, but will cost next to nothing to try, and you never know your luck.
  20. I dabbled in direct sales for a mercifully brief period, I was useless, but this clown sounds even worse than me.
  21. I like cruise control for long motorway trips, very relaxing, and stops you nudging in to 100+ territory and, these days, possible jail time. I only use it where conditions are suitable though, ie light traffic where constant cruising speed is possible. If the traffic is heavy, I don't bother, as it then becomes more trouble than it's worth. Steve, wherever I rest my feet, they seem to automatically know where the brake pedal is, though I've yet to try reclining the seat and resting them on the dashboard. I really miss cruise when doing long journeys in my camper, I've even considered fitting a kit.
  22. I missed that, what did they say? My other car is a 7-series. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01bbfsl
  23. Unless it's something simple, like a poor connection, I'd wonder whether the dealers diagnosis was correct. I wouldn't wonder for long though, I'd be straight back to the dealer, as he should sort it out.
  24. You're not wrong about the costs........here are some figures from What car, relating to a BMW 3 series that they've had for 20,000 miles and 12 months.
