  1. Going back that far hows about The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. I still play their albums regularly in the car. Let's face it Mike, we're old, but then again, just think what the young ones have missed. I bet there's not many here that have heard Mick Abrahams playing live in a pub in North London, sitting next to a posh girl from The Ridgeway in Enfield (I wonder what she's doing now, married to a doctor I suppose)..... I remember Mick Abrahams version of cat's squirrel on Jethro Tulls This was LP. My favourite track on an album I played to death. I heard Creams version later, and thought it very tame by comparison
  2. I agree with you 100%, with regards to the service history, I wouldn't have wasted my time or fuel on it either.
  3. Just stumbled across this on youtube, it's a Leyland video, brings back memories of some pretty poor cars, see if you can spot all the actors of the day pretending to be leyland workers, including the lovely Maddy Smith, the hammy bloke off crossroads, Hercule himself, and a few others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTCfJKNE2hg
  4. I remember going to Soho in early 1970s to see a show with Fiona at the Raymond Revue bar. I can't remember what it was called, but I DO remember it was utter crap, and also featured a certain John Inman. I thoroughly enjoyed the seventies, but that show was a very expensive low point. Oh, nearly forgot...was never a milk monitor, not Glen, but definitely been quite lucky overall :)
  5. Thanks for the replies gents, looks like it's just me then.
  6. Someone once told me that Fiona Fullerton had bought "FU2", But perhaps it was you Steve?Anyway, congratulations on your present to yourself. Regards John It was Fiona Richmond, bit of a girl in the 70s as I recall.
  7. Best of compilations by Pretenders, Roy Orbison, Hot Chocolate, Cher, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley, plus 50s rock'n'roll mix, Back to black by Amy Winehouse and Freewheeling by Bob Dylan. That lot have been in the car for months.........I just pick six of them before any long trip. I've been listening to a lot of my music for forty or fifty years now......never tire of it though.
  8. Just want to know whether everybody suffers from the above, or whether I have a problem that needs sorting. Whenever I bring up a new page, the bottom left corner of the screen goes mad, with a dozen or more names of ad firms etc flicking quickly through. Until this action completes, scrolling the page is impossible. If this happens to everybody, and helps pay to run the site, fair enough, but if not, then I need to investigate further...........currently I just run spybot occasionally.
  9. Take a look at Honest Johns review here http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/lexus/is250c-2009/
  10. I'd be interested in any replies you get, as we've moved to the south east coast, and I quite fancy a grown up convertible. However, they seem a rare car, so responses may be a bit thin on the ground. If you do get one, please let us know how you get on with it.
  11. Well done. Too late now, but I always use large water pump pliers or Mole grips with curved jaw. Tape around the nut to protect the chrome of course. The larger the tool, the better the leverage, and less chance of causing damage.
  12. It's still on the road according to dvla site, and fuel is showing as petrol/gas, so maybe been subject to a lpg conversion?
  13. In the ad they say "Pl note: This model can not suitable for car with car PC , such as BMW BENZ Volkswagen etc. This an ordinary type of product that is not band decoder, and It is the same with HID! Product Description:" That doesn't bode well to me, but it's your car and your money, so good luck if you go with them.
  14. Welcome. Camrys are great cars, I used to have a 2 tone blue 87 model, lovely reliable car. Seem to recall they were the Yanks favourite car for quite a few years. Good luck with your search.
  15. Can't help with dimensions, sorry, but if the job was warranty for corrosion or insurance for damage, just take it straight back to the repairers, as, at the very least, it needs adjusting.
  16. So are they saying a knackered cam makes the engine scrap? In other words, would it not be possible to just replace the cam and associated bits?
  17. I'm not sure there are any installers on here Gary, with the possible exception of Profess, and the bloke who posted for them has now gone I believe. Regarding your question, I think most in the industry are now "done in a day" businesses, and priced at an affordable level, neither of which would encourage manifold removal. Try asking your question on the LPGDiscussionForum, there are plenty of installers on there.
  18. I agree with those who mentioned the Cat"C" problem, it cuts the number of people who would buy it dramatically, and therefore it's price. It's probably not entirely fair, as old luxury cars will be easily written off due to parts cost, whereas a modern bread and butter car with the same light damage would be repaired and not recorded. If the car stood up to inspection, I'd consider it, but it would need to be about half the price. Edited to say, in case some don't know, the vehicle check, as mentioned in the ad, after a cat"C" has been repaired, is not for condition or quality of repair, but purely for identity, VIC stands for vehicle identity check.
  19. Don't like the advert, particularly where he says no inspection after the sale.......so how the hell are you supposed to check if it is as described? Feedback not great, also had a few names in his time as follows. eBay Member User ID History The box below contains the User IDs that this member has used on eBay. 20. You can try swapping your own wheels front to back, to see if the vibration alters in any way. Obviously, if it does, then try swapping the spare one wheel at a time, until you find the guilty wheel. My first thought was propshaft or a dodgy wheel/tyre, but the posts from those who have cured it by replacing ball joints would seem to point in that direction.
  21. I agree with much of what you say but when it comes to taxes as you say if they didnt get it there they would have to get from somewhere else. There is a simple answer to constantly wanting more tax and that is too cut the overheads, this dosent mean cutting services of the most vunerable in our society or many other services, but to cut severely all those so called jobs that are there in local and main government bodies that are there supposidly to implament the various services. Believe you me you would be astonished at the billions that are wasted too a criminal level, but we are now so apathetic too this and many other problems within this countries make up that we just let them get away with it time and time again. Apathy is the reason that we pay far more for everything here in the UK. Absolutely. Too many parasites trying to run our lives for us. Town councils, county councils, Welsh parliament, British parliament, and the jewel in the bloody crown, Europe!! This is where massive savings could be made, not cutting benefits for the GENUINE needy, though of course I'm all in favour of weeding out the spongers.
  22. So.......... you press the panic button as the carjacker reaches for your keys and dumps you in the road.........the alarm sounds, but then stops when said carjacker puts the keys in the ignition? I think I spot a slight flaw.
  23. I wouldn't leave a deposit on any car I hadn't seen. I've bought a fair few off ebay too, including my current LS. I always message the seller saying that I'm buying on their description, but may not complete the sale if the vehicle is not as described. I've never had a problem yet, but if any seller didn't agree, I'm afraid I'd just go on to the next.
