  1. Funny you should say that Steve. I watched it with Mrs V the other night, and said the same to her. Maybe the last series had a different car?
  2. Very nice. You're right of course, black is very high maintenance, but on the plus side, it looks the business when polished, as your pic proves. I might yet get one of these cars, looks nice on Last Tango in Halifax too.
  3. You're a victim of the times I'm afraid mate. Speeding is the new drink driving, sadly. I remember getting clocked at 130mph on an empty M4 in the early hours. Copper was good as gold, just a warning that not all cops were as enlightened as him. That was nearly forty years ago though, I now stick below three figure speeds, simply because of the possible consequences, which I suppose is what they want. It annoys me that so many lousy drivers get away with bad driving, because they aren't speeding. Good luck, you have my sympathy.
  4. At that price everything should be spot on, and to be blunt, on this car, it isn't. In your shoes I'd be looking at either main dealer with proper history and warranty, or private, again with cast iron history, and preferably still with some Lexus warranty remaining. Regarding the low mileage, the car might have been used for short trips only, in which case oil change is even more crucial..
  5. I saw Dudley, then noticed two different reg plates in the pictures, and thought here we go again. However, the plate issue is explained and it looks a nice lpg'd car with full Lex S/H. This place gets a favourable mention too, so DEFINITELY not the usual suspects! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121227666453&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:3160
  6. No idea mate. But I would suggest that anybody who does know a way of defeating the security, doesn't post details on an open forum.
  7. Just whack it through the auctions, that way lies peace of mind and no comebacks.
  8. There may have been more dirty oil left in the mk4 after draining, for some reason. Or, possibly, there may be more muck in the engine, and the detergents have done their work. Frankly, neither dipstick would give me a moments concern.
  9. I had a CAI kit on a Civic TypeR. Two things. I heard of a couple of cases where water wrecked engines having been sucked in via the intake, which was mounted low in the wheelarch area on the Honda. Secondly, there were a few discussions on the owners forum regarding warranty, none of which were conclusive, the general consensus being to remove the cai before heading to the dealer.
  10. Have you considered taking your part ex out of the equation? With a value of £500, I can't see it being something a dealer would really want on his hands, you'd probably be better off disposing of it yourself and going for a straight cash deal.
  11. AND I have responded The mileage is still wrong in the main details panel mate. I know but I was unable to alter it. Anyway to remove it now would confuse those reading my amendment and if I removed both it might be thought my mistake was on purpose Yeah, I see your predicament. Daft that you can't amend it though, especially when you consider what that bloke from Walsall can get away with on his classified ads.....he changes the whole vehicle on a regular basis before the ad ends. Good luck with your sale anyway.
  12. AND I have responded The mileage is still wrong in the main details panel mate.
  13. Ah, I stopped looking after spotting the wheels!! Maybe we could have a spot the difference competition? The dash is an odd one though, as it contains the correct mileage, I don't know what a mk3 dash looks like though, so would never have got that one. The wheels are mk4 I think, standard and DHP model possibly?
  14. Different wheels on some pics, maybe to do with the "all wheels refurbished" bit?
  15. Halloween saw a gang of about 40 thugs go down the street chanting footie crowd style, kicking panels and wing mirrors on every car, fifteen in all, two of them mine. My camper has a dent on front wing, probably smart repairable, Lexus has a really nasty dent on front drivers wing, paint broken and shut line affected. Not worth claiming on insurance of course, so will have to wait till I make the move to Sussex completely, where both vehicles will be kept off road. Police were called at 1am, never even bothered coming beyond the bottom of the road, despite there being at least ten grands worth of criminal damage, then sent a young pcso round next day to do paperwork. How come somebody nicking a fivers worth of bacon from Tesco etc gets an instant response?
  16. Can't help feeling it's an unfair comparison, given the prices of both cars when new. In 2009 you could buy a brand new legend for around £22K, though that was with a 10K+ discount admittedly.
  17. Apology accepted Frankie, we all ***** up sometimes. I'll delete my last post if you like, where I quote you, and presumably you can just edit yours if you wish.
  18. Just start another topic. Mike Best not Mike, I did that once a few years back, on a motorhoming forum. Don't go on there now, but I'll bet the thread is still running!!
  19. I've removed my rant about abuse of blue badge and motability scheme, as, on reflection, it's liable to derail the topic.
  20. The biggest luxury of all, is knowing your car will start on the button, and almost certainly get you from A to B without drama. The rest is gravy, as the Yanks say.
  21. There have been three artists who REALLY made me sit up and take notice. Elvis when I was just a nipper in late 50s, then Bob Dylan followed by Hendrix in the 60s. They all had a sound like nothing that had gone before, or to be more accurate, nothing that I'd heard. Later I realised Elvis was inspired by black artists that had never really been heard in the UK, and Dylan was heavily influenced by Woody Guthrie. Hendrix, on the other hand, came from outer space!!
