  1. DVLA site shows it as a 96 as well. Maybe it's had a front end smack and been repaired using mkIV parts. Don't forget, there are a lot of cars with unrecorded repairs, there are plenty on ebay that claim to be damaged repairable and hpi clear. A vehicle history check is worth doing when buying, but doesn't mean you shouldn't do a thorough visual check yourself.
  2. You made me wonder Malc, but I just checked dvla using the reg no, and sure enough, its a 2008 5 litre hybrid, so definitely a LS600? Steve, hope you don't mind your thread being used like this ?
  3. I saw an LS600 on the road, for the first time ever the other day. It was going round a roundabout just outside Knaresborough, and had a very distinctive reg, RAF and 2 digits.
  4. I've just returned to South Wales, having visited relatives in North Yorks for new year. We did around 800 miles, averaging a smidge under 25mpg on the computer display, but using LPG, so equivalent to 45-50 I guess. But, above all, the car performed faultlessly in some atrocious driving conditions, delivering us home as fresh as a daisy after a four hour trip. A good one of these is an absolute bargain, as has been said many times.
  5. Hi Clunkfish, I use spybot regularly, including immunization, but this site has been particularly bad for me, possibly linked to using google chrome as my browser. As I type adblocker indicator at the top of the page is showing sixteen. It also worked well on a motorhome forum I visited last night, which has always been ad heavy.
  6. Thanks, this site has always been problematic for me regarding ads /popups. I've installed the chrome version, so fingers crossed. Edited to add, that worked superbly, no longer does it take an age to scroll up and down, thanks again Ian.
  7. I agree with messi. Halford oil might well be fine, but I'd rather be certain by spending a bit more for a top quality brand. I do shop around though. The last oil I bought was a 20L container on offer from Opie,
  8. In fairness, we have no idea what the bloke has spent, and presumably he is a trader, so will be taxed on his profit. There is another thread running regarding the difference between Lexus dealer trade in and retail on the ISF, a lot more than this bloke will make.
  9. Thanks. A very nice buy at £2.5K, that's for sure. Wonder how much he'll get for it.
  10. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/98-Lexus-LS400-4-0-VVTi-V8-Auto-One-Lady-Owner-FLSH-Only-43K-LS-400-Not-LS430-/291042772472?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:3160 You'll need to dig deep though!! £4,250
  11. Here's something a little more suitable for Xmas time :winky: Last week, I took my grandchildren to a restaurant. My six-year-old grandson asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the Food, and I would even thank you more if Grandpa gets us ice cream for dessert. Amen!" Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!" Hearing this, my grandson burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it all wrong? Is God cross with me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my grandson and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer." "Really?" my grand-son asked. "Cross my heart," the man replied. Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes." Naturally, I bought my grandchildren ice cream at the end of the meal. My Grandson stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember for the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, . . . . "Here, this is for you. Shove it up your arse you grumpy old bitch!
  12. Firstly, £264.43 is rather precise for an approximate price. Secondly, it's an almost criminal rip off. What kind of garage are they?
  13. If I was still smoking 40 a day, I'd be spending over five grand a year!!! But then, plenty blow well over that in depreciation. No pockets in a shroud.:-)
  14. Have a dig around on the american owners club forum, I'm sure there was a link posted on one of the 430 suspension problem threads.
  15. Looking at those pictures, absolutely ripe for Waxoyling. I'd just scrape any flaking paint and caked mud off with a blunt screwdriver, then brush it on thick. The light surface rust will actually help to absorb and hold the waxoyl in place. Messy old job mind.
  16. Very good, you can almost see a young Dylan listening to that and making notes.
  17. Come on now, they MUST be doing a good job, why else would they deserve a big pay increase? :megaangry:
  18. What an advert for an Eton education. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2013/dec/12/judge-david-cameron-nigella-lawson
  19. Ours did same yesterday, snapped drive belt was the cause, so no brush roll action, and no dog hair movement from carpet. Mrs V was all for chucking it in a skip before I checked it!!
  20. Oh well, I'm 64, so if I get one I'll wear a balaclava............wouldn't want to add to your misery.
  21. It's the petrol price rise con all over again. When gallons changed to litres, the increases seemed a lot smaller at budget time. They are now introducing monthly payments for car tax, so increase divided by twelve seems far less significant. Bunch of shysters.
