  1. Funny you should mention other car forums. Not been on civic type r owners club for a while now, but checked earlier, as they were always 90% + in favour of TG in the past. Last nights got about 2 pages of comments, all bar one poster slating it. As to your Lexus point, they aren't exactly pro Honda or MG either. Anyway, I know plenty like it, that's fine, each to their own, but I'm loath to waste another hour of my life on these buffoons. Probably record it, then fast forward through the dross in future.
  2. Thought you hadn't. Be interested to hear your opinion once you've watched it.
  3. Did you see tonights program Chris?
  4. I've been critical of TG for a good while now, but tonights first show of the new series was dire. It's just so juvenile, which would be excusable if it was made by young kids, but just comes across as desperate when produced by middle aged blokes. I nearly turned it off tonight, but persevered in the hope it would get better....it didn't.
  5. Yep, 3L diesel is the most common by far, these days. The Amazon is now V8 4.5 Ltr diesel, but costs north of £60K new, and maybe £40k ish second hand from a dealer. Anyway, thanks for your posts gents, I've been doing more research since starting the thread, and seen nothing better, especially from a reliability point of view.
  6. Here's the link to your car ad mate. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C451390
  7. Genuine oil filter, good quality oil of correct spec, changed at correct intervals, money well spent. Cheapo oil, false economy.
  8. A common fault on old Granada autos. An auto box specialist told me it was due to seals hardening, in the cold especially. Mine got worse and worse, till eventually it wouldn't reverse at all, and wouldn't go in to 3rd(top) either. Faced with an expensive rebuild, and as it was my taxi at the time, off it went to auction. Hopefully, Lexus being of much better quality than 70s Fords, your problem will stay manageable.
  9. Doesn't surprise me. Like most things these days, it's all bull**** anyway. All that matters is the bottom line, how they get there is immaterial. What used to be a fairly reputable business is now just another money grubbing enterprise, and we all need to recognise it as such and treat it accordingly, i.e, shop around and haggle for the best value.
  10. I had an Accord tourer a few years back, and the 2.2 diesel was a cracking engine, the motoring press agreed, so it must have been good.
  11. Thanks Iain, nice story, think I can count that as a vote in favour!! Not bothered about old fashioned, ln fact I love the look of them, and I'm pretty 'passe' myself. Fuel consumption on the petrol model might be a bit of a problem, I can see me getting single figure mpg when towing the van, as I'm a bit lead footed to be honest, so diesel probably a better option.
  12. Currently I have a Toyota campervan which is mostly used as a day van, as we also have a nice caravan, a Bailey Arizona. We tow the caravan with the campervan. I'm considering replacing it with a Toyota Landcruiser, and would like to hear opinions on them, good and bad, from anybody with experience of them. Do they live up to their unstoppable reputation, diesel better for towing than petrol?, real world fuel consumption?, the usual stuff really. I was thinking of 2008 ish 3.0L diesel, but have noticed that emissions on 2010 vehicles are lower, resulting in VED being around half that of the earlier models(thick end of £500 for 01 - 09), so might have to dig a tad deeper. All contributions gratefully received.
  13. I wish I could get paid loads to come up with 219 names, none of which were good enough. I wonder how much Toyota paid them?
  14. If it was that easy to gain 15bhp, all performance cars would roll off the production line with kits fitted as standard. I was like you, and when asked about my Honda's cold air induction kit, told the truth....I could feel no difference in performance, but when vtec kicked in, it sounded lovely. However, the owners forum was full of guff like "crisper throttle response etc, etc", because, basically, people hate to admit they've fallen for a well established con trick.
  15. That's very good, I wouldn't have been at all surprised to hear that ICE equipment wasn't covered. Most stories about warranty companies seem to end badly, so it's nice to hear a happy ending for a change.
  16. It has if you're wise to their dubious tactics and shop around every year for best quotes. If you're one of the majority who just accept their renewal from the same company, year after year, you're likely getting shafted. I think in most things now, loyalty has gone out the window, it pays dividends (literally in the case of ISA accounts) to switch to the best deal available at renewal time.
  17. Some excellent posts here. Money is nice, but health, happiness and family are far more important.......no point in working yourself in to an early grave. Trouble is, the penny often doesn't seem to drop until one of the above goes wrong.
  18. NX is totally rust free, not a spot anywhere the NX was my first car which I've had for 4 years now and goes without saying any work that was needed got done regardless of cost. Drives like a dream :) Glad to hear it, most have succumbed to the aforementioned turret rot it seems, looking at the owners club forum a few weeks back. We had a pacific model for a few years, the wife loved it, and I thought it was a very underrated little car, especially in summer with the roof panels out.
  19. I can verify this, my Ls430 53 plate fogs front and rear only work with the main lights on, just tested it. As for a fuse, i would guess it is in the rear fuse box, in the boot near side under the carpet, not checked this as yet, going for a looksee now. Ok just had a look, no fuse in the boot fuse box, got cold so came indoors, i would have checked the other fuse boxes around the car but i can't get the car indoors where it's warm. Just drive the car into the house where you can check in a nice warm environment, other owners apparently do :) lexus in house.jpg Valet parking at it's very best. Dunno why they are protecting those alloys with the wood blocks, they have to be the ugliest alloys on any car, Lexus should be ashamed they used them on a nice car like the SC. Agreed, they are one numb set of wheels, although can be slightly improved by removing the middle bit. Actually, wheels are not Lexus strongest suit, either aesthetically or in terms of endurance. They aren't alone though, back in my Honda days, there were numerous posts about Civic TypeR alloys being exchanged under warranty, due to corrosion.
  20. Never mind the common old Lexus, how are your rear turrets on the NX?
  21. From memory, it looked a nice car on ebay, but it looks stunning in your gallery pics. Enjoy your wafting up and down to London, God knows, that trip needs all the help it can get.
  22. That was on ebay a few months back, or at least an LS previously owned by GH was, probably the same car.
  23. Badge snobbery and a motoring press that puts reliability at the bottom of the list (they aren't picking up the bills!).
