  1. Welcome, and pics of the Nissan would be nice :)
  2. I knew which car it was before clicking on the link, having just finished looking at it before coming on here. Good spot on the paint drip on the tyre, as the wheels were supposedly refurbished a year ago? Might be perfectly innocent, touching up a bit of a kerbing maybe, but certainly a reason to look for other signs. That said, if all he says is true, and he can back it up with the paperwork, it sounds a cracker. Only other obvious thing is, I saw no mention of service history, apart from what he's done himself. Oh, and insist on the car being stone cold when you test drive, as that's when any problems with the lpg system tend to be more obvious, particularly on switch over. Hope it's as good as it sounds, and you drive it home, best of luck.
  3. Thanks Carl and Phil, but that's on the nearside dash by the look of it. The one on the drivers side moves like a button, looks like a button, about the size and shape of a snooker cue tip, and same colour as dash. I'd take a quick pic, but phone is away for repair, and can't remember where I put proper camera when we moved.
  4. Anybody know what the button is on top of dash, near screen, drivers side, visible from outside the car.
  5. I bought a new motorhome in May and a mate bought a new work van about the same time. We both waited for about 3 or 4 weeks for the tax disc to arrive. Also took a good while for acknowledgement of transfer of my part ex vehicle.
  6. Personally I'd be loathe to let any car stand for a year or so, let alone one with the complexity of a LS hybrid. More importantly, good luck for a full recovery.
  7. Thanks Nach, you're probably right, but I thought it would be easier to be honest. It might be my aged memory playing tricks, but I seem to recall seeing plenty for sale............right up until I actually needed one, of course. Somebody was selling a silver one for 20 quid about 8 months ago, in retrospect I should have got that one as a fallback.
  8. Been nearly a year now since some scumbag kicked my front wing in. Despite setting an ebay alert, nothing has emerged, I just seem to get loads of mails offering wing mirrors, and the odd older wing. I need a drivers side front wing for my 99{T) LS, preferably in blue, so I can just bolt it on. If anybody has one for sale, or knows of one, please give me a shout. Pic attached to show colour. Thanks.
  9. You have great taste, Laurels were marvelous cars. Buying them at auction in the 80s was easy, as very few people knew about them, so you got very little competition. I bought a good few, and not a duffer amongst them, also a Camry fan, and indeed most big old Japs. You'll love the LS, I'm sure.
  10. Same happened to me, and I thought the same as you, then later that day, both keys played up on my Toyota camper, which really had me scratching my head. Couple of hours later they were all working perfectly again. The cause?......not a clue, but been fine ever since. Hope you're lucky too.
  11. I don't think a second hand column is a good idea to be honest, bearing in mind it's a fair chance of going the same way as your current one. In your shoes I'd either settle for driving it as it is(assuming that it's stuck in a reasonable position), or get the offending motor off and either replace or repair, depending on what you find. Good luck with whatever you decide. Edit:- Sorry, we posted together, so the above now makes no sense.
  12. Just remembered something else that might help you. I'm sure I've read on here that Toyota Land Cruisers have the same motors, but are available for less than the Lexus part.
  13. I've seen plenty of 430s advertised with faulty motors, but have also seen posts on here about the same fault on the 400, though I believe that the 400 can sometimes be fixed for coppers, as opposed to replacing the whole motor,
  14. Couldn't agree more, particularly if you're parting with top money for any particular car. If you can buy a good condition vehicle, with verifiable history, from a well written advert, from nice people in a nice house, then you're in with a good chance. Low mileage can bring it's own problems, as well as often being falsified, so I'd be loathe to pay the kind of premium being asked currently.
  15. Hello Wessel, lovely looking car you have there, I'm always tempted when I see a nice one for sale. Quite a rare car though, hence the lack of responses I guess. Did you find the answers to any of your earlier questions?
  16. SH car sales ad seems to show a 7 year gap between services? Not my idea of a full service history. The Cardiff car looks great in the pictures, but seems a bit overpriced, unless it's exceptional in the flesh, so to speak.
  17. Just tried that site, if the results for my area are any indication, then it's yet another inaccurate guide. I use filllpg, which also has many faults, as does the flogas site. Incidentally, my home town of Newport has gone from three outlets to one, the Flogas depot having decided it wasn't worth the bother, although they are still selling all their other products. I now live in Eastbourne, where I can only find one outlet (not the one listed on mylpgeu), the next nearest being 20 miles away. By contrast, if the lpg map sites can be believed, Bristol and the Midlands are awash with autogas!! I'd still convert though, if I was doing 500 miles a week in a thirsty motor.
  18. 25 to the gallon average, currently around the 3 quid a gallon for lpg, so £60 a week based on those figures. Obviously, mpg can vary depending how you drive, and you could pay more for lpg....up to 30% more, as the price varies greatly around the country, so my figure can only be a rough guide. I'm happy that I gassed my LS, but the lack of availability would worry me if I were considering converting now, some areas are pretty thin on the ground already, and I get the feeling that numbers are dropping.
  19. In my spannering days, I always used to use a bus garage for anything heavy duty, they had really powerful presses and didn't charge much. As Steve2006 said, try to take the part off the car if possible, they'll be far more likely to take the job on.
  20. As ever, your car, your money, your choice. Agreed the standard wheels are a bit numb, but 19 inch rims will need elastic band tyres, which will almost certainly ruin the ride, and will leave your wheels vulnerable on todays shockingly maintained roads. I've smashed two alloys due to low profile tyres offering little protection against a water filled pothole, that was about seven years ago, and roads are way worse now.
  21. I can assure you I'm not his "mate" bumping it up, I don't know him from Adam. As I said, if anybody is breaking the rules, just delete the posts. I cannot delete any posts other than my own. People who advertise on this site pay for the privilege of doing so, so its not fair when members who have paid nothing are seen to be selling albeit under the guise of finding out how much their car is worth and then other non Gold Members pointing out its now on Ebay, as I said earlier the only thing missing is the Item number and even though you say you don't know each other we still don't know that. To find out how much your car is worth (I know its not yours) just go on Ebay or one of the many other car sales sites. Please remember I do not make the rules but they are there for fairness to all and as a club member you are expected to abide by those rules. Mike This just gets better, you're now calling me a liar. I thought better of you.

  23. Well, if I've broken any rules, just delete my post, along with any others that have transgressed. I deliberately didn't post a link, though, bizarrely, it's apparently fine to link to cars of interest being sold by non-members. In fairness, anybody interested in this car wouldn't need to be Sherlock Homes to find it!!
