  1. Thats what I thought but you can accept "Best Offer price was accepted" and thats when you can leave feedback. Mike Ah, didn't know that.
  2. Agreed about Swinton emailing and ringing, but they aren't alone in that regard, Saga still send stuff to my mother and she died nineteen years ago! Water off a ducks back to me though.
  3. I thought all his sales were done with classified ads, which I believe doesn't involve feedback?
  4. I ruled out the older models on the following. Up to ten years older than mk4, so obviously more likely to have corrosion and age related faults. Slower acceleration, even crappier looking wheels (not much in it, I admit!), and, when I bought mine, not much difference in price. I don't dislike the looks of any model, I even like the orange lenses cars, and can't understand why people put clear lenses on them.
  5. Why didn't you save another 20 odd and go with Swinton? I found Swinton excellent to deal with, but, as usual, they couldn't compete with new business quotes come renewal time. Pain in the backside having to switch stuff all the time, but sadly, if you don't, you could be thousands out of pocket every year.
  6. As per the title, on Quest freeview ch 37 14.00 - 15.00, or Quest + 1 freeview ch 38 15.00 - 16.00. I know it's been on many times before, but there may be somebody who hasn't seen it yet.
  7. Whatever you decide, and for what it's worth, I'd take the refund, it sounds like you've found a good honest dealer.
  8. They are very easy to replace, I did mine a couple of months ago and the only odd thing is that at one end needed a 13mm spanner and the other end a 14mm spanner. I got mine from www.cargasstruts.co.uk for £40 inc delivery. Thank you for this. I was just going to order from SGS, as recommended in one of the posts, but they were £60 a pair. You just saved me £20 :D Thank you ! Are you sure you're not getting bonnet struts and bootlid ones confused?
  9. Exactly. That number of retractions would be odd if spread over the whole three days of the auction, but as you can see, most of the action takes place over the last twenty minutes of the auction. Funny place, ebay.
  10. Just tested it, and it has changed in appearance recently, by the look of it, but if anything, it gives even more detail now. https://www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla Just click start now button, then put reg no and make and all will be revealed (hopefully!!}.
  11. If you're like me, and can never remember the exact date, posted above by Mark, you can always do a vehicle enquiry on DVLA website. You just need the reg no and make, and it will show it's details, including taxation rate.
  12. Watching an RX300 going cheap, £700 for a tidy looking 2001 with about 15 minutes to go, was thinking of popping a bid in at that kind of money, bearing in mind the seller needed rid quickly by the sound of things. Anyway, the bidding then went mad, with over 20 bids taking it to around £1700 with a couple of minutes still to go. At this point my genuine interest turned to mild curiosity as to where it finished. Would you believe, that when the page turned to sold, the price had dropped to £1550, and the number of bids was two. Item no was 321671146838 Here's a link to the auction, showing the bidding history, see if you can work out what was going on. http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=321671146838&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2565
  13. Ok then, if I must. Price, sounds ok, but I really don't see enough of these for sale to give a proper opinion. Have you done an ebay search, using the cars sold filter? I agree with Phil about making the journey, wouldn't bother me at all. Pity about the wheels, I do like them, but not a thousand pounds worth of like, and, looking on the bright side, standard wheels will require a lot less maintenance. Those exhausts look they might sound nice?
  14. Don't think anybody is going to stick their neck out and advise you to risk it, just in case it goes pop. That's a lovely looking motor though, and the wheels set it off a treat, very nice.
  15. No, but here's a couple of links for you. As you'll see, a lot of us have used them, there's even a tutorial on there, I think. Relevant thread here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/57402-bonnet-struts/?hl=%20bonnet%20%20strut Suppliers site here http://www.cargasstruts.co.uk/product_info.php/lexus-ls400-p-1571
  16. Steve mentioning the boot seal jogged my memory, it's a job I've done, and along with the bonnet struts, can be done much cheaper than using a dealer for parts. Basically, what I'm saying, always search the forum for solutions, failing that, just ask, and somebody will point you in the right direction.
  17. Well done. That air filter is a disgrace, but sadly, not a surprise. Mind you, I've had reason to use a Peugeot main dealer, since buying a new campervan last year. Incompetent doesn't cover it, I'd forgotten how useless big garages can be.
  18. To the above I would add, front discs and pads are simple enough, not done rears yet, but not seen anybody mentioning problems on here. I would agree with Colin on everything except the sat nav update, which I think is worse than 09, but I'm not certain either, hopefully somebody else knows for sure.
  19. Welcome to the forum, great choice of car, looks a good one too.
  20. Bit better last night, I thought. Wish I could say the same about last Sunday's Top gear, an hour of my life wasted. Time they grew up imo.
  21. Quite simple to check for solar John, though I agree it seems unlikely that you'd have missed it. Just separate the plug from the battery and test for power when daylight, then when dark.
  22. It's a relatively easy tow Stuart, nearly all dual carriageway or motorway, and in coolish weather, with a couple of stops along the way to visit relatives, so, as the only other towing I would do is a small trailer to the local tip, no need for a cooler imo. I do have alternatives, but would prefer a bar for Lexus if possible.
