  1. Damn, I forgot to say, with regard to that ad, the walk round video is an excellent idea, I wish more people would do it.
  2. Look and learn all those Wallys that stick half a dozen words all of which are miss spelt and an upside down fuzzy picture of a car that's a different colour to one hes actually selling but looks almost the same. They say you cant have more than 100% but Jim Marshall made amps that went to 11 and this guy has gone to 101% for all the effort put into that advert and all the pictures. I hope he gets what hes asking for it or near as we all benefit from cars like this being sold as it ups the value of our cars thats how the market sets itself. Mike That reminds me of an episode of storage hunters, where a bloke bid on a storage locker containing Marshall amps. He was all excited when he saw them, and remarked on them having eleven over the controls, only to be a tad deflated when they turned out to be fridges!! Only in America eh?
  3. Mikeyv, don't know where you are in Sussex but my paintshop guy is nr. Broadstairs in Kent if that's any use to you ! Malc Eastbourne Malc, so a bit of a trek really, bearing in mind he'd probably need the car for more than one day. I'll bear it in mind though, and give you a shout if I can't find somewher nearer, as that sounds a reasonable price, and it's always nice to use somebody recommended. Thanks, Mike.
  4. I've been looking for a wing in blue since some scroat kicked a big dent in mine two halloweens ago. Gave first choice a go, and a couple got back to me with quotes, though not the right colour. Also 24/7, which produced one reply from somebody wanting over £200 for wrong coloured, and giving a premium rate number to ring. Ended up getting one in Basildon, on my way back from Yorkshire last night for £50, in red. His advert has been on ebay for ages, showing the car mine came off, apparently he regularly buys and breaks LS and other Lexus.
  5. There's a thread on this advert, assuming it's the 8 grand, 20 odd thousand miler on ebay? He upped it to 9 for a short while, then dropped it back. As you say, it's a cracking advert, with loads of good quality pics to back it up.
  6. That's a coincidence, I picked up a used wing for mine last night, and I'm also way out of date with prices for paint, so will follow this with interest. Funnily enough, I had the choice of red or white, both from MK4 cars, though I've never seen a white one, I'm guessing yours is an earlier model though Andy.
  7. Probably damaged when the car was sat on its belly with knackered suspension.
  8. That was my first thought, a Smart car that needs to lay off the carbs for a while. Not my type of thing to be fair.
  9. Deleted post as youtube video I linked to isn't much help, think it's been changed maybe. Sorry.
  10. Sorry, just realised there are three different threads discussing last nights TG, the above post referred to one of the others. I'm easily confused these days.
  11. Second one suits LS much better imo, for some reason the more "open" style doesn't quite suit the car, again, imo. Also, I quite like the brown, though I admit, I am colour blind!!
  12. Check pistonheads for a proper review and a balanced argument from the members, Clarkson is an immature, attention seeking bore, and I'd never judge any car on his say so. As to whether the car is any good, there's only one way to see if it suits you, and that, obviously, is to drive it and make your own mind up. By the way, there are more posts on this episode in the classic car thread.
  13. Just watched the bit I missed on Iplayer..........the bloke is a buffoon. Take a look here for the pistonheads test, and the members discussion which follows. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1487207
  14. I feel the same about Minis, in particular the van version. I had a Saturday job in the sixties, delivering meat in a brand new minivan. I was only in the damned thing for four hours, but even as a reasonably athletic 17 year old, I was bent double by the time I finished my shift. Much preferred the Viva based Bedford that preceded it.
  15. Forgot it was on, so didn't turn tv on till he was wrapping up the "test", saying not worth handing to stig. Having watched the rest of the utter tosh, I wish I'd forgotten altogether. You can never find an avalanche when you need one.
  16. I take it back. If you have any conscience, clear or otherwise, you're definitely not a politician :)
  17. Piston heads did a test v M4 last week and, amazingly, the overall opinion of the forum was definitely pro Lexus, a first in my experience, particularly when the opposition is BMW. Maybe the tide is on the turn, lets face it, exclusivity has gone now, German cars are as common now as Fords and Vauxhalls once were.
  18. Absolutely agree. After improving slightly in prog 2, they have slipped back to zero chemistry, though I missed this weeks, so will watch it on iplayer when I get home. When you think about it, good car programs have been thin on the ground over many years.
  19. Just done this very job for my mot, courtesy of Steve, and it's a simple bolt on repair. Two things, mark position of old one and fit new in same position, having checked that length of new = length of old, if not, adjust accordingly, this will hopefully keep the correct adjustment for the headlights. Secondly, I found it easier to carefully cut the old one off, using an angle grinder, as my fittings were rusted on solid, and the rest of the assembly is a bit lightweight to be riving away at rusty nuts and bolts.
  20. Bargain wheels and tyres! Looking through their sales though, nothing for LS400 at the moment, but have added them to my fav sellers, so will get regular updates.
  21. Talking of exhausts the OEM Y section is being offered on Amalaya at £148.00 at the moment compared with £400.00 odd here so even taking into account shipping and possible HMRC interest should still work out cheaper should it ever go again. That's not too bad to keep it original.
  22. I think I posted my views on the thread you just mentioned, so won't bother repeating them. Just to add, particularly as you are Sussex based, I used Grove garage in Brighton today for an exhaust repair, and found them excellent. They were recommended on here by another member, and the owner is ex Lexus, and specialises in Toyota/Lexus work.
  23. Hi Steve, I sent you a pm on 19th Feb, but it's still showing as unread on my pm page?
