  1. Sorry, I misread your post, I see now you want ALL those items in one kit, so ignore my ebay answer, as they only list the items separately, except for the US listings of course.
  2. Type ls400 timing belt in ebay search, there are plenty of options I believe.
  3. Saw that on ebay last night, nice car but, as you say, top money, and I didn't much care for the attitude of the dealer on the ebay listing. Don't bother coming to look unless you've got the money in your pocket, don't ask for a price for your part ex, we're not here to give free valuations, that type of thing. I know time wasters are annoying, but they're part of the job.
  4. Yes please! I love the quiet waftiness of the standard car, but would also love to be able to switch to a more raw version when in the mood.
  5. March 2007, got up in night for a pee, came back to bed and couldn't get my breath, told wife to get an ambulance and off to hospital we went. To cut to the chase, my arteries are shot, and they said, after an angiogram, too bad to have the op. Gave up smoking(heavily!!), took the 11 tablets a day prescribed, and got weight down from 16+ stone to around 13. I'm still here, and two days ago, shovelled and barrowed 3 tons of chippings down the side of the house. You sound to be better off than me having had the op, so hopefully you have plenty of time left to enjoy driving your LS, best of luck to you.
  6. I think I have an illness, I love big Japs, always have since the 70s, despite them being absolute rotboxes back then. This one is no exception, and good value if it's all it's meant to be, though the rear might take a bit of getting used to. Go on Steve, get it bought!! EDIT:- Just seen The-Acre's post, just goes to show, we all have different tastes.
  7. Got home last night after a couple of weeks away, and my renewal for the camper was on the mat. You were right Mike, I was pleasantly surprised at the small increase, now I just need to ring regarding my LS renewal, and I'll be a happy bunny, hopefully.
  8. Thanks Steve, another encouraging post, fingers crossed you're right.
  9. Cheers Steve, I hope you're right and it only affects my camper policy, but........ Unfortunately google is a bit vague on the subject, so I'll have to wait and see what they say I guess.
  10. I have three insurance policies, a caravan, campervan and my LS. All have donkey's years no claim, until this year when I had a claim on my campervan policy, 100% my fault unfortunately. My question is, does my claim on the one policy, affect my ncb on the others? I have had a good quote on the Lexus from my existing insurers, Endsleigh, for £161, much to my surprise, maybe the penny has dropped that we aren't as gullible as we once were regarding loyalty. I'll be ringing them though to declare my claim, and would like to be pre-armed as it were.
  11. I've got a pump like that, Conrad UK sell them, and some on ebay too. Here's a link to the one on Conrad. http://www.conrad-electronic.co.uk/ce/en/product/854215/Mannesmann-Oil-Suction-Scavenge-Pump-3lmin12V?ref=list I did an oil change on a Toyota Hi Ace 2.2 diesel, and found it a bit fiddly to be honest, in fact I had to remove the dipstick tube so the plastic tubing from the pump could be inserted in to the sump. Also, me being me, I had to remove the sump plug to be sure the oil had actually all drained out, and, to be fair, it was bone dry, but kind of defeated the object a bit.
  12. Interesting solution!! Hopefully your journey will be gendarme free. Agreed about drilling the bulkhead blind, I'd check, check again, and when absolutely certain all was clear, check again.
  13. I fitted Mintex, as they came with the discs as a package. Very noisy when first fitted, especially at low speed, but improved after a short time, and never a problem as far as actual braking is concerned, still wouldn't fit them again though. Personally, I'd go Ferodo or Lexus, though I'm sure there are other decent pads out there.
  14. That's because that kit doesn't use the relay you want to fit. I've fitted two bars using a relay ( 1 Toyota, 1 Honda) , and taken the live feed direct from the battery, and, as you say, used an inline fuse. Mike, I've got to get this wiring done and so today thouight I'd give it a go. Not an easy task. See someone said that their mechanic took twelve hours to route the cable from front to rear. I've only taken off the door foot trim and blimey haven't a clue howe to get the passenger carpt up to find a hole in the bulkhead. Can't efen see how to undo the plastic under the glove compartment. Nice not to see fasteners - until you have to find them. did you run your cable under the car? How did you route it? Sorry, not had cause to route anything from underbonnet on my LS. On all cars where I have though, I've nearly always managed to use an existing grommet, though occasionally I've had to drill a new hole and fit a new grommet. As to routing through the car to the rear, I did that for reversing beeper, and just used the trim panels to hide the cable, the sill panels just clip on and off easily, then removed the rear seat backrest to access a way in to the boot, though somebody posted that it was possible to do this by bending the edge back, without actually removing it. I'm sure somebody on here must have found a way through from the engine bay though? Anybody?
  15. Brilliant solution to the Mk IV Zodiacs biggest problem, a light back end, which made for entertaining handling in the wet. The one in our taxi office struggled to average 15mph, and the driver was the steadiest of us all, so good luck with the fuel bills with that nailed on top.
  16. Ouch, this one has LPG, but I get an average of 21 out of the LS400 on LPG. But i'll take that as a yes vote re. driving experience I did indeed enjoy driving it, but then I've always liked big wafty barges, so may not be to everybodys taste. Regarding the size, it seemed to shrink around me, if you know what I mean, and didn't feel as large as it is, but I take Tulpen's point about tight car parks etc, where it would be a bit cumbersome compared to the rear wheel drive LS, with it's excellent steering lock. I believe it shares a couple of potentially expensive problems with the LS430 too, namely the air suspension and the radiator which contains the transmission cooler, which can lead to water in the autobox. Does look a lovely thing though doesn't it?
  17. I was looking at one of these on the net, just out of interest, looked nice, and I loved the petrol land cruiser I had as a courtesy car a while back. I do seem to recall though that the mpg figures were a bit horrific, single figures round town and 15mpg on a run IIRC.
  18. I'm not sure what "certain circles" means, but I'll be voting UKIP. My reason is to give the established parties a richly deserved bloody nose, as there is no chance of UKIP forming a government, but if they get a good number of votes, then, as happened with the Greens, the main parties will incorporate the more sensible parts of ukip policies, in order to keep them at bay. I expect Dave to get in, but probably needing to cosy up with others, as now. I actually got a tracked letter from Dave last week, personally addressed, as apparently we are "marginal", so worthy of special treatment, and I could paper every wall in the house with the pamphlets delivered so far by all parties.
  19. I've watched the odd James May thing, he's almost bearable without the other two clowns, but if Richard Hammond was performing in my back garden, I'd draw the curtains. Clarkson is just a spoilt brat, who should have been cut down to size long ago, before he turned top gear in to panto. I like my motoring programmes to be about cars, preferably those that aren't the preserve of the uber rich, and therefore of little interest to me. If that puts me in a minority, so be it, I don't really care.
  20. That's par for the course these days I'm afraid, it comes as a shock if anybody actually does ring back as promised, strange when you consider that everybody seems to be glued to their damned phones.
  21. Good on body corrosion too, by comparison with Mercs, my 99 T reg 400 is solid as a rock, top and bottom. There was an 02 Merc estate at the auctions this week, about 100k on the clock and rotten as a pear on all four wings and doors, and I've seen plenty before in the same state.
  22. I'm not bothered about Kidd, it's Wilson that's been the big disappointment for me. I've always enjoyed his programmes, but he was dreadful on the classic show, it's like he was a 78 played at 45rpm, and he also looks like he's been embalmed. Actually, that would explain the constant squirming in his chair. I'd be amazed if there was a second series, but even more amazed if Kidd made it on to top gear..... I'd be a happy bunny if the lovely Sabine got the job though
  23. For an 08 about £13k p/x. Private sale £15k. Dealer sale price £20k. Anything over those prices are not selling. Thanks for that. About par for the course then I suppose, somebody has to pay for those main dealer overheads.
  24. I see what you mean about retail values holding, but what are dealers offering for them in p/ex? Assuming the answer to that question is not favourable, how hard are they to sell privately, and how much below retail can be expected?
