  1. Hmmm, see what you think, click on the link in this thread, even a lot of the wording is the same. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/97542-lexus-ls400-26000-miles/ That car was bought by another member, thread here. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/98757-time-warp-ls400/ Both gorgeous cars though.
  2. Just seen that one, belongs to a member here apparently, so I won't post a link. The style of ad, and the location being Scotland, as well as the picture backgrounds, reminds me of another ad for a low mile LS that was on here a while back, don't think it's the same car though.
  3. This car is on the owners club facebook page as well, owner says he sold it on ebay, but buyer pulled out.
  4. The garage that already got it wrong once, you mean? I'd go elsewhere. Incidentally, if it is a shortage of fuel, check the filter before replacing the pump.
  5. I buy my genuine oil filters from ebay lexus dealers, comes with new washer included. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lexus-Oil-Filter-V8-90915-YZZJ4-/171918373184?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus%7CModel%3ALS%7CCars+Year%3A1999%7CPlat_Gen%3AUCF20%7CCars+Type%3A400&hash=item2807223140:g:TxgAAOxyC5dSPEsg I agree with you about the oil, good quality fully synthetic, changed yearly with filter, job done.
  6. Thanks for that John, just looked and there are plenty of good oil deals on there.
  7. Very good deal, is that available over the counter at main dealers, or if Delivered only, how much for postage?
  8. Went through again today, usual attendance for a December car auction, two men and a dog, so no real interest, apart from a dealer stood by the car, who the auctioneer tried to convince would look good driving it, and got a bid of £14,300, so no sale.....again. It's booked in for next Wednesday, by which time it will have one day of mot left, but I can't see it selling here, unless Richmond group lower their expectations.
  9. Mine never squealed, but groaned badly under light braking, to the point where I was going to bin them, purely on noise grounds, as the actual stopping power was fine. Fortunately they quietened down after a few weeks, although you can still get them to groan at very low speed if you really want to, so two years later they are still on the car. Next pads will be Ferodo though!
  10. I think there are two separate issues there though, the additional radiator required for towing will just give extra cooling, but still have a risk of water and trans fluid coming together if there's a leak. The other scenario is fitting an extra rad, then disconnecting the transmission fluid feed to the main radiator, so no risk of water being mixed, as the trans fluid is now air cooled only. Whether extra cooling for towing is still required, I'm not sure, it certainly used to be best practice, but things have moved on a bit since the old three speed slush boxes, I guess.
  11. Nice. Bet it's a goer with that power, assuming it's as light as it looks.
  12. Thanks for all the replies gents, sounds similar to my LS switching from petrol to lpg after a brief warm up period. The car is due to go through again next Wednesday, but can't see it going for a price that I would be prepared to pay, bearing in mind it's being sold without warranty. Also, mrs V is a bit reluctant, but she was the same about our LS, and she loves it now, so, you never know.
  13. Your car, your choice, we're all different. You're right about the wheels too, definitely the worst feature of the car imo. Get some pics up when you've done it.
  14. Thanks Graham and Peter, that explains it then. Graham, Happy birthday, disown your kids, adopt me and I promise to look after your car :)
  15. Excellent Graham, thanks. Any comment on the engine running (petrol) at low speed?
  16. Hi Colin, go to Eastbourne car auctions site, and it's still there, just search for Lexus. It was a 57 plate 2008 car, 61,000 miles, loads of S/H, excellent bodywork for age, shortish mot, and tyres nearing end of useful life. Interior excellent, 6 owners, had a plate change at some stage. Started on the button, sounded great at walking pace, i.e silent! Unfortunately, the buyers were as quiet as the engine, auctioneer mumbled something about 14 thousand, bottom book I'd guess, there was no activity in the hall, on the phones, or online, apart from one bloke bidding 15k, followed by the car wafting away as if the bid had never happened, and let's just say that was probably about true. I was hoping it would go cheaper than that, as they are available at independant dealers for around 15k, complete with warranty etc, albeit with a few more miles probably.
  17. Cheers Brian, I've just seen it on an ebay IS 250C listing as well, so can tick that one off now I think.
  18. Thanks Mark, I did wonder whether it might have been stood around for a while, hence batteries could be a bit low.
  19. Been to the auction today, having spotted a 2008 LS600 for sale. Watched it go through, which brings me to my question. The car never exceeded walking pace, yet the exhaust showed the petrol engine was running all the time. Is that right, or should it have run on battery only? Also, there was an illuminated message under the display screen which said "passenger airbag adult only"..........is that normal? Thanks in advance.
  20. Yes, but if you read the description you can use your existing blade, but it does also come with a blank blade as well if you need it. I've read it again, and can't see that Tony.Which bit makes you think you can use your existing blade? Sorry for the delay in replying but LOC stuff gas been going into my junk mail folder so only just saw it. The bit that I was referring to is where it says "alternatively take the blank blade to have it cut" ( haven't copied that exactly but words to that effect) which infers that you only need to cut the supplied blade if required and therefore are able to use your existing blade. Of course that may be a misunderstanding on my part due to the sellers translation. If so then clearly no different o all the other vendors of that type of product. I'll know once it arrives of course and if so then at least I've only wasted a couple of quid and I'll try one of the alternatives suggested above. Well, you never know your luck, but I think you're right about something getting lost in translation. When I got my car, one casing was a bit the worse for wear, so got a new shell off ebay, transferred the innards, and got the blade cut at a proper locksmiths. Still working fine three years on.
  21. Cheers Mikey, Its also on tomorrow morning 9am so have got it to record that one. Already recording Real Madrid V Barcelona and watching Man City V Liverpool so cant record anymore. Thanks for the heads up. Mike. Ah, that's more like ITV4, they're not usually shy of repeats! I must say I much prefer 5th Gear to TG, and given my intense dislike of Chris Evans, thats very unlikely to change. Pity Plato is missing though.
  22. Thursdays episode repeating now on ITV4, so on ITV4 +1 in an hour.
  23. As they say in panto, oh no I don't!! Not got the patience :D I've had a tweak or two, but only after the mails stopped, and just checked again.......all right boxes ticked as far as I can see. Not a big deal anyway, bearing in mind what else is going on in the world, I'll get by.
  24. Thanks for reply Steve, I used to get them too, but for some reason they've stopped.
