  1. Bit of a worry. That said, some BP garages charged rip off prices.
  2. Don't blame you for being put off the brand, Lexus certainly shot themselves in the foot with the diesel cars. Better luck with your next car.
  3. I haven't had a mail, telling me when somebody posts on a thread, for months now. Mind you, I think I prefer that to getting other peoples mail! It's funny, most things have improved over the years, but using the internet has become a pain in the arse, more so with each supposed "improvement".
  4. It's easy to check for blockages. Just wind the roof open, then pour water in to each corner, using a pavement or wheel chock, etc, to get the slope in the right direction. Simply check under the car for water exiting on to the road in the relevant corner.
  5. Take a look in your downloads folder, that's where they ended up on my pc, when I clicked on the links.
  6. Certainly not a selling point to me. I think they look nicer than the standard version, particularly once the polished look has corroded and been painted over, but the tyre size is expensive compared to 16 inchers.
  7. Agree with the post above. Very high mileage cars need to be cheap enough to scrap if they go wrong, or cheap to repair, or, ideally, both. I would suggest that the cars you're looking at are neither. In your shoes, I'd either up my budget or buy a different model.
  8. I don't care for the new layout either, but this is a common theme at the moment on message boards. I've cut back a lot on my internet/message board use and only use three on a regular basis, this one and two Welsh rugby boards. They have recently changed to a later version of the board software, and both have lost a lot of traffic, one to the point of having whole days without a post. There are other factors too, but the software update has definitely had an effect. Unfortunately, all involved seem to agree that the updates are essential, and little can be done to avoid the unpopular changes. Hopefully, everybody will become accustomed to the changes.
  9. Dear God, I think I'm in love! Here's the link, and make sure you view the 6 minute video clip of the making of the car. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-CENTURY-CONVERTIBLE-UNIQUE-AND-VERY-RARE-CAR-ONLY-37000-MILES-/351631485474?hash=item51dedeaa22:g:Ce8AAOSwjVVVgsqn
  10. Might treat the old girl to a set then, thanks for the tip.
  11. I just love big Jap cars, Crowns, Laurels, Legends, 300C, LS, etc, etc, and have owned plenty of them since the late 70s. Not surprising I suppose, considering my dream car is a 59 Caddy. Sadly, few people in the UK have the same taste, and a lot of cars from Japan never make it over the water, so are rare indeed...........shame!
  12. Just checked, £38 inc delivery for denso plugs, equivalent to SK20R11, which is the code for the genuine plugs in the ebay ad I mentioned. That's pretty good, but is there any risk of extra charges, as they're from the states?
  13. Set of genuine Toyota/Lexus plugs for LS400 are £86.66 delivered, from Lexus Birmingham on ebay.
  14. I think just avoiding the diesels would be a good start, and, with the usual care, I'm sure there are plenty of nice cars available within your budget.
  15. Welcome to the forum. I suspect you'll get a lot of negative posts, as the diesel has had many problems. If you want to avoid waiting, just do a search, there are a LOT of threads to wade through.
  16. If you're going to clay body, or glass, give the farecla clay mitt a go, gets good reviews, and I found it very easy to use. Got mine from Halfords, about 12 quid I think it was.
  17. It's funny, white ones have always seemed a bit thin on the ground, but they're all over the place at the moment. There's a MK IV on ebay currently (not white), going for £650 or best offer, but it's listed under tow bars for some reason, hence how I saw it, as I have LS400 towbar on alert.
  18. Oh dear, I like it! Found some good clips on the you tube page too, including a nice LS item from auto trader, here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxaIedn7fvo
  19. Eh? Surely "general chat" is not model specific, and that is the point?
  20. I did the same as Titch LS, except my DA kit was by Kestrel, but with the same Meguirs products. I was very happy with the results on my dark blue car, and have just bought some dodo juice leather cleaner, as recommended by Rayaans, to get the beige leather looking as good as the paintwork. I've used a full fat polisher in the past, and they do require care, to avoid problems, but my da polisher comes to a stop if you use too much pressure, so pretty safe by comparison.
  21. DHP car I think Steve, so those 17" wheels with no centre caps? As to that mot, was he trying out a new pen? I don't like all this advisory business, it can't be right that one car gets no advisories, but another identical car gets nonsense like "couldn't inspect because engine undertray fitted", or "brake pads not visible"
  22. Click on the More Reply Options, to the right of the Post button, below the reply box, then click choose files, next to the paper clip, select your image on your pc, then click Add to Post, hopefully your image will appear like this
  23. Not just you Eric, I feel the same, just too many doubts about performance, economy and reliability.
  24. Actually, my memory has kicked in a bit (recovering from man flu), and the Herald was replaced with a farina style MG Magnette, which was nicked from Newport and parked on it's roof in Penarth. The Sceptre was bought with the Magnette write off money, and was a 66 D reg in metallic green, which looked like this
