  1. Regarding battery drain - should be under 50mA - on a 97 model its 24.8mA: Before you measure any rest current your car has to get into "sleep mode". Keep in mind that in order for the car to sleep at all it must be off and nothing can be "touched" (no opening of the trunk or doors, no pressing any buttons on the key fob etc.) If something is touched the timer starts all over again. How long it takes for it "to go to sleep" I am not quite sure, but 30 minutes should be enough and rest current should be under 0,05Amps (50mA). For comparison 20 minutes after arming the anti theft deterrent system my 1997 LS400 has a rest current of 18 - 28mA. (before 20min it is about 40-50mA). Alarm went off at about 11,82Volts. Battery should be charged when less than 12,4Volts (75%). Procedure of how I did it and got a reading of 24.8mA: - Turn ignition off and pull the key - Open engine bonnet and close its lock with a screwdriver - Close all doors - leave the battery connected and arm the anti theft deterrent system either by key or by key fob.....and check security lamp if it works - to be sure leave the car alone for about 30 - 60 minutes (I went back to the car after about one hour) - go back to the car's battery and measure rest current without interrupting the current. Before disconnecting the battery put the pair of test leads (black one/-)to the negative battery terminal and the other (red one/+/amps or mA) to the negative terminal clamp.......now disconnect carefully terminal and clamp.
  2. ECU / 89661-50350 (08.1996 - 11.1996 / 97 model year) has 9 caps.: 2 x 10μF - 50v 2 x 47μF - 63v 2 x 100μF - 10v 1 x 220μF - 16v 2 x 15μF - 35v
  3. Here is how to test the seat cushion heater continuity (1997 model):
  4. That sounds like glow plugs and/or injectors. Here is an interesting link to that kind of problem on a 2006 220D:
  5. Part number for Room Temperature Sensor - INCAR: 88625-50120 PS: If you need the SOLAR sensor at a later time, you can get a cheaper one. That sensor was also produced for FIAT, Jaguar and Alfa Romeo - part number: 077450-0911 (look for it on ebay).
  6. Looks like that is a temp sensor and light sensor in one.: 89121-50020 (03/2005 - 12/2008) http://www.japan-parts.eu/lexus/eu/2008/rx400h/mhu38r-awxgkw/3_524210_002_309W/electrical/8715_heating-air-conditioning-control-air-duct/3 http://www.japan-parts.eu/lexus/eu/2008/rx400h/mhu38r-awxgkw/3_524210_002_309W/electrical/8416_automatic-light-control-system-conlight
  7. Auto-dimming feature was standard on MK3 models. MK3's and MK4's wing-mirrors have the same shape. Some years ago I put an MK4 mirror-glass in an MK3 wing-mirror housing. Only difference I can see is, MK4 models came with blind spot feature for the n/s mirror-glass.
  8. And if you just send an email and ask them directly? Maybe you get lucky....;o)
  9. Yes, that key-fob part number (89742-50640) is for the European model - see links below, but if I was you I would try to find a used one first by checking out car-breakers in the UK (via fleabay maybe?) and reprogram it to the car. I have reprogrammed a used one once. Keep in mind lots of LSs end up in East Europe https://www.toyodiy.com/parts/xref?s=89742-50640&mU=on&mE=on&mJ=on&mG=on http://www.japan-parts.eu/lexus/gr/1996/ls400/ucf20r-aepgkw/5_431220_005_/electrical/8420_wireless-door-lock#89742
  10. LS400 1996 and 1997 Cheapest way and decent quality is to get a key and chip from China via Aliexpress. Was about 14 bucks in 2014. The China key was cut by a local key smith and the China transponder chip was programmed by the local Lexus dealer. I was able to get the fob programmed with the "key/remove key/pat your head/rub your tummy dances" programming procedure, but not the key. (Key Fob – 433MHz - 89742-50640 (LS400 8/95 – 7/97)) (Immobilizer Box – ECU – 89780-50010 (8/95-7/97)) Master Key - TOY 40 – long blade (89785-30020 (LS400 8/95 – 7/97)) PS: Links for reference only: http://www.japan-parts.eu/lexus/gr/1996/ls400/ucf20r-aepgkw/5_431220_005_/electrical/8424_anti-theft-device#89785 Key – blank – without chip: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-pc-New-Replacement-transponder-key-shell-Case-fits-for-Lexus-TOY-40-key-blade-long/32641798532.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dPAV4nS + Transponder Chip – ID4C (Avensis Celica Yaris Corolla Lexus): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2pcs-lot-ID4C-Transponder-Chip-for-Toyota-Avensis-Celica-Yaris-Corolla-new-chip/32810786557.html?spm=2114.search0604.3.7.3d462da4xRcAOo&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_3_10320_10065_10068_10890_10547_319_10546_317_10548_10696_453_10084_454_10083_433_10618_431_10304_10307_10820_537_536_10902_10843_10059_10884_10887_100031_321_322_10103-10890,searchweb201603_54,ppcSwitch_0&algo_expid=959319cf-ca16-4a39-bd60-336cf691803d-1&algo_pvid=959319cf-ca16-4a39-bd60-336cf691803d&transAbTest=ae803_5
  11. Please keep us updated on the performance of the Quatrac Pro tyres on your LS430. TIA
  12. Quatrac 5s have asymmetrical tread pattern with good traction and handling, but pretty noisy. Especially when driving with open windows. I am okay with the Quatrac 5s, I like it a little louder. This article confirms my experience. https://motorandwheels.com/are-vredestein-tires-quiet-noisy/ If you prefer the LS-quietness, do not buy them. I would love to know how the Quatrac Pro (looks like it has a quieter tread pattern) and the Michelin Cross Climate (symmetrical tread pattern) on a 95-97 LS400 perform. PS: The LS400 came with asymmetrical tread pattern.
  13. LS400 1990 - 1994 Plugs torque: 18Nm LS400 2000 Plugs torque: 17.5Nm No mentioning of any sort of grease when reinstalling spark plugs. PS: - Remove spark plugs on an alloy engine only when engine is cooled down. - Do not use anti-seize on spark plugs. Put them dry back in.
  14. Known problem with cars in combination with an automatic transmission. What's to stop it happening again? How about avoiding dead stops and heat spots by pressing and releasing the brake a few times? Always leave some meters for creeping forward on a traffic light.
