  1. Looks the dogs in that colour. The red was my second choice but that was September too. Looking forward to seeing the sidesteps on it. I'm undecided yet so the more NXs I see with them the better.
  2. My last Lexus was black (GS F Sport) and it was great when clean but what an effort. Clay bars are my secret weapon.
  3. The figure quoted for my Kia was more than I expected so I’m happy with the quote given. I’ll get a couple of things thrown in at handover too.
  4. It would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing. I had ST on a Lexus IS and I liked it a lot. Changes colour from silvery colour to pale gold. Neighbour had ST on an NX. Personally, - I’m old-ish though - I think it’ll look smart with the cream leather and bamboo trim.
  5. After deciding the RX was too big for my needs I ordered an NX Premier today in Sonic Titanium and rich cream / bamboo interior plus pan roof. It’s a factory order so it’ll be September before it arrives. I’m definitely going to miss things on my 2017 Kia Sportage KX-5 including full length electric tilt-slide pan roof, brilliant nav and infotainment system plus hands free remote tailgate. I’m really only gaining, with the NX, more sumptuous interior, HUD and a petrol model. KX-5s are diesel only. Very disappointed with the NX infotainment and nav sysyem but the rest of the car makes up for it.
  6. Hello. After test driving an RX I’ve decided that the NX is probably a better fit for the driving I do. I’m looking at purchasing a MY18 NX Premier. There are 2 questions I have that the website doesn’t clarify or deny, namely: (i) does the Premier have adaptive headlights, i.e. LED arrays that change the light pattern and (ii) does the Premier have a handsfree boot opener or is a button job to open the boot? Now just to decide do I want a fixed pan roof or openable sun roof? cheers Peter
  7. Couldn't see cornering lights on both Sport and Luxury RXs today but clearly there on a demo F Sport. F Sport in white does look really good in the flesh. Might have to look at one of those rather than a Luxury model. After sitting for 15 minutes in a showroom RX (what a lovely sumptuous place to sit) I sat in the facelifted NX. It felt more like sitting inside an RC. It felt cramped and definitely less upmarket than the RX, but I guess that's to be expected.
  8. Another question, if that's ok. Do the Luxury model not have any form of adaptive headlights or cornering lights? I cannot find anything other than it has LED headlights, that neither swivel or bend, etc.
  9. Thanks for the reply. Strange about omitting BSM on all but the top spec.
  10. Hi all. After being away for 12 months I'm toying with coming back to my beloved brand. I'm thinking of a 17 or 67 plate Luxury and pan roof (blue with cream would be the ideal option) and I'm trying to see if the RX has blind spot monitors in the door mirrors. Can anyone confirm please. Also, it appears the Luxury does have premium nav and electric tailgate. Is that correct, also? I have thought of the NX but I feel the RX will be more comfortable and a classier place to sit? Cheers Peter
  11. By ottoman I, probably incorrectly, refer to the GS's electrically extending thigh / back of knee supporter. It's my favourite feature with the GS F Sport seat along with the electrically adjustable side bolsters.
  12. Called into my localish Lexus Centre today to see how much my 2014 GS F Sport was worth and how much I owe although I could have found out the latter myself. Reasonably surprised that the difference between the two figures wasn't as bad as I expected. Talked with the sales staff about what I would like next and the RC, NX and new IS were on my list so. Dealer rattled off a few numbers for new car which were a no-show at the moment but then came back with a sensible number for a 16 plate RC F Sport with premium nav and low miles. White with rose leather. Mmmm, ok, test drive needed of their demo blue RC. Good points: looks great, instruments good, driving position, menus, how it handled (this surprised me as I drove 40,000 miles in a slightly modded GT86 so I understand how a good car feels) and, finally, how the RC got down the road. Not so good: tiny nav screen (I'm used to a 12.3" screen), no BSM and no ottoman in the drivers (ok, I'm spoilt with the GS's electric ottoman jobby and electric side bolsters). I still dislike the parking brake that you have to depress. I've decided, for now, to wait a bit longer and see what's on the market in a few months. Whilst looking around the dealership there was a new IS F Sport, RX F Sport, NX F Sport, RC F Sport plus a CT Advance. None of the cars were equipped with BSM. Surprised too that the NX doesn't have memory seats although they are electric. What's up with Lexus not generally putting BSM into their cars? My GS has it (as does the wife's Juke) and I find it very useful but it doesn't appear to be on Lexus' list of things to have. Finally, the Centre is getting a yellow LC (full fat model) with sporty pack so carbon roof et al. :) Just don't know when. Peter
  13. I have a 2014 GS300h F Sport and all 4 door pulls are illuminated and all 4 aluminium trims on the doors are lit too. Sounds like there's an issue with the front door lights. I cannot answer any of your other questions buy, yes, map on the full screen like 2016 models would be brilliant.
  14. You'd think so but no. Even when my 12.3" screen is just showing radio info it still only manages to say BBC Radio 2 DAB - and that's it! Yes, it's very, very poor in that respect.
  15. I went from a 14 plate IS300h (Luxury) to a 64 plate GS300h F Sport. Sure, the GS is bigger (not huge amount of rear leg room though considering) and the feel and quality of the materials is generally higher in the GS but, to me, the GS is poor against the IS when you're pushing on. The IS feels more nimble and lively compared to the GS - I guess that was the design intent - the IS more dynamic to drive? I miss this driving feel in the GS - even in Sport S+ with the firmer suspension - and I miss the TFT screen from the IS which shows audio info and nav. The GS's TFT shows nowt much more than fuel status and economy. And don't get me started on the infotainment in the GS! A nice 12.3" screen but in radio DAB its shows nothing more than the station you are listening to. Even when the whole screen is audio is still only shows, say, BBC Radio 2 DAB. A 12.3" screen and that's all it shows. WTF. My wife's Juke says who the presenter is, which programme it is and who the artist and track is of the song being played. I love the GS but there are some niggles.
  16. Thanks Ten Ninety, good to know I'm not alone. Agree too re the antiquated piece of junk. When I change my GS - probably for an RC F Sport - if the software is still junk I'll, reluctantly, possibly change brands.
  17. I've been on the portal and each time I try to add the free firmware to my cart it says I need to add a vehicle. I've already registered a car but the portal is having none of it. Dealer wasn't any help at my major service a couple of days ago. I didn't even get a safety / health sheet or the tech's major service sheet so I'm at a loss with Lexus and their frustrating infotainment.
  18. According to Lexus my (more than 2 years old) firmware is the current one for a 2014 GS.😏 Can anyone here clarify please.
  19. Just checked my firmware and it's VA00111A. I've no idea whether this is up to date or not.
  20. My 2014 GS300h F Sport is coming up to its 2nd service and will be 2 years old in September. As far as I know it's not had a firmware update since new. Does anyone know what is the latest firmware so I can see if mine is up to date or not. Thanks Peter
  21. Hi, the system is happy for you just to enter a town name (just ignore the street field) and navigate to the centre of said town by pressing on the circles next to the name. Bizarre about Chingford though as my system didn't recognise it too even though the word appears on the Lexus map. I looked up a Chingford business address on Google and entered it and it came up with Street xxx, London E4.😐
  22. Sorted! The Lexus Centre worked out that you had to load the spring under the pivot before tightening down. Basically, you just pushed the arm down and tightened away. Job done and sitting in the right place, i.e. out of site. :)
