  1. yes i see it now in the diagram now and understand it a bit better. im going to give this some serious thought and do a but more research
  2. just a bit of education for myself here - i noticed that shock absorber misting/failure/replacements in very common on the gs450h range - whats the reason behind this and does the gs300 of the same age share the same part?
  3. my hat goes off to you for attempting this - the most i have done on my LS is replace the brake pads would it help if you googles for some images of the Lexus LS400 cambelt and looked at them for guidance to ensure you have the belt routed correctly?
  4. thanks for the replies guys - how would one check if this failure - i was washing the car today and check the fluid level which at the right level and colour - i also check the oil cap and was dry - not much to see. these oil cooler pipes do they leak on the outside aswell i.e will their be drips on the ground a pipes diagram would be helpful showing the pipes etc.
  5. Hi Guys We all know the pre-facelift 430s have the bad design of the transmission cooler pipe running through the rad which have known to leak and mix fluids resulting in gearbox failure. Can sombody tell me wether this design was modified on the post-facelift (53 plate onwards). I have a facelift 430 and always thought this was the case without having officially read it anywhere. I have just seen a facelift 430 on ebay with the same problem hence why i am asking here thank you
  6. the GS450Hs are the same - when they get over 8 years/100k Miles the likelyhood of problems with the hybrid system increases - theres currently one on ebay with a hybrid problem which the seller states costs £750 to fix (£750 buys a lot of petrol) and i think as we go forward we will see alot more of these cars with these costly problems. I would say if you want bullet proof reliability then go for a 400 - if you want anything newer then be wary when buying and expect some big bills if you want a perfect car
  7. Well only after 2.5 years ive discovered the rear middle headrest can go up and down with the little button on the side maybe im not quite the "guru" the avatar title claims i am LOL
  8. im 36 also - when have the boy racer urge i go for a drive in my brothers bmw 325i m sport lol

  10. agree with the above - if problems persist check car battery is good
  11. i had the same happened to me a few months back - this was on a road where we have metal recyclers and a 2 inch metal piece got wedged in my tyre -thankfully it was repairable
  12. managed to get a set of ferrodo front pads for my 430 for only £13.67 inc delivery from amazon it appears they were incorrectly priced as the price has gone back to £40 now! i fitted these to my 400 and was happy with them lets hope they are still nice an quite

  14. malc that word you have jut invented (sillily) is a real tongue twister lol
  15. good news i did same as you a few years ago with my mark 4 - it did take be many many tries but it worked in the end - i dont know what it was that made it work in the end
  16. on my 430 (which is a facelift) there is a switch next to the steering wheel with a "P" on it which swicthes of the parking sensors - mine are currently switched off because a front one is faulty and emits a constant bleep
  17. never knew they delivered ? p.s you will miss out on the nice coffee and biscuits lol
  18. i think what chris meant was on the early ls430s due to the design of the gearbox/cooler they are prone to gearbox/rad failures due to water ingress into the gearbox. im led to believe this is not the case with the facelift ones
  19. yes - wheeler dealers done one didn't they? ed replaced the compressor to get the suspension working again
  20. hi if your key performs the keyless entry and start functions then you are ok. Best and most haslefree way to do it is order through your local lexus dealer - i have been quoted £180 to supply and program the key. dont be tempted into buying a second hand key and programming it - the "smart" start side of things can only be done by the dealer. words of advise - if you only have one key - its better, cheaper and advisable to get a replacement through a lexus dealer - if you lose both keys you will need to get a replacement ECU to get new keys which costs thousands.
  21. well i have made a phonecall to a chap i use (he was the only one who could cut my mark 4 blank) - he is going to ring me back - if he can do it i will let you know
  22. hi jon looks like it has been done here - just a question of spending some time on the internet http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/69277-lost-master-key-ecu-reflash/
  23. ive had the mark 3, 4 and now the 430 - the 430 has a harsher ride out of all - but cornering is alot better - now the 400 ride feels very wallowy to me
