  1. still not sold despite the reduction - good for us buyers - not so good for the sellers
  2. Mk2 Grandads we had one did 250,000 miles in on the same engine/gearbox 2nd greatest car we ever had the 1st is the greatest car ever built our LS400. The Grandad is still around as we see it every now & then. Mike. my ex boss used to have a mark 3 Granada - he used to thrash it - good old workhorse
  3. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/S407-BFG-/291609355049?hash=item43e545a329:g:afoAAOSwu-BWQ2Cj Look at the car - poor thing then look at the sellers advert, No title, No description (few word with spelling mistakes) , Poor pictures and then look at the potential buyers asking " is it manual or auto"??
  4. sorry found it priced at £12995 looks like it was only serviced 4 times throughout its life? wonder if the cambelt had been changed?
  5. how much was this car at phil walker? A dealer local to us had one with 29k miles priced at £12950 - but took 4-5 months to sell?
  6. ah ok just make sure when testing you put it in drive - NOT by just starting the car
  7. hi jon no i haven't - its still the same and because I have the reverse camera it hasn't caused too much bother. I'm not even sure if the centre sensors are reachable with the front bumper in place.
  8. The passenger door speaker was blowing in my facelift 430 so I decided to fix it. Here is the procedure for removal of door card. 1) remove 3 screws at the bottom of the door card on the rubber seal 2) remove one screw under the door handle and one in the air vent hole 3) remove the small panel behind the opening puller (the one you pull to open the door from inside) behind the panel is another screw which you remove. 4) remove the electric window switches - prise from the side which is towards the back of the car and it literally just lifts out - disconnect and set aside - then remove the screw behind it. 5) Thats all the screws removed - next with your hand gently pull at the door card to release 3 poppers. 6) Lift door card upwards and its off 7) Next remove the 2 electrical connections for the seat memory. - I then tilted the card vertically and supported it on my knee whilst I continued to remove the speaker.- no further disconnecting required. The speaker is held by 3 screws and one connection - undo these and its comes straight out. the problem on the speaker is very clear - the cone surround has become detached and will need replacing ( replacements on their way) There is a video on You tube which shows how to repair the speaker surround hope this is useful to someone - cost of 2 speaker surrounds is about £12.
  9. glad it was nothing serious or expensive to fix - does the gs not have the normal fluid warning lighting found on the LS for example?
  10. Here are some of things u should check: Make sure it has a full or at least a good service history which includes the cambelt change. On driving the ride should be quite smooth comfortable with no noises or creaks from the suspension. Gearbox changes should not be noticeable Upon inserting key the steering should tilt and retract - test and make sure the mechanism works as motors are very expensive Braking should be quite and smooth - if you get a groaning noise when coming to stop that’s a sign of cheap aftermarket brake pads - they will need replacing. Check colour of gearbox oil it should be red with no smell of burning. Check for rust around boot lid and front doors Check back exhaust boxes for corrosion Check for rear quarter glass delamination - going milky white Check all electrics work Check the Sat Nav works - there have been reports of some failures Check the air suspension works and the compressor does not make any noises - set it to high and watch the ride height increase roughly an inch - the compressor then should switch off Check the bonnet struts hold the bonnet - check boot struts also - these too fail Check the parking sensors work - the front ones often fail and get switched off Check the car has the correct Toyota red coolant Ask if the cabin filter has ever been changed - these are often over looked. Check toolkit is present Make sure there are no warning lights lit in the dash Ideally you want 3 remote keys Check the car has a matching set of tyres and wether they are branded or not - this should give an indication wether the car has been pampered or neglected Before driving off make sure you have the sat nav code and locking wheel nut key. hope this helps
  11. my ls430 had bridgestones on it which were noisy even low speeds - i changed them to continental which i had on my 400 but they did'nt make any difference on the ls430. after doing some research i went for dunlop sp sports which are much quieter.
  12. ah ok - that probably explains it i once bought a mark 2 ls400 with a broken spring - you could see the ride height difference from miles away but i was so excited about the car i didnt notice! lol untill i had bought it
  13. hi wayne a few years ago i used to have a mark 3 LS with cream interior - i used to cover the original mats with clear mats which prevented any dirt touching the mats - thats one option reference your question - although i dont have a gs450h but i cant see how the interior footwell can be any different therefore they should fit all the best
  14. hats off to you steve - you are a perfectionist - i too had the same dilemma about my bumpers but never got round to getting them done and now 3 years down the line some nice person has decided to key it on the passenger side so i have left things as they are. chrome tips is another item on my list as mine dont polish up very well
  15. Nice wheels - these are original mark 4 wheels and go nicely even with the mark 3. the exhaust problem you describe is common and if you want to stick to the original quite exhaust then the only option is to buy the pipe from lexus - otherwise there is aftermarket options but even the best ones are not as quite as the original set up good luck with whatever you decide your car appears to be sitting a bit low at the back?
  16. you forgot to put service history details and asking price? lol only kidding - i know what your going to say . . . . . lol
  17. well i get the feeling whoever buys it will be just parking it up in a heated garage - adding to their collection of cars.
  18. the same question has been asked on the LS forum and the cigarette lighter was suggested
  19. I dont like the the look but thats some talent and time spent and hats off to them however i DO like the headlights that would give the car a very modern look
  20. hi the ls430 has a button on the right hand side under the steering wheel with a "p" on it - this switches off the parking sensors - just make sure yours are not switched off.
