  1. Yes a big fan of them myself - i specifically looked out for a mark 4 with the wood pack. obviously with the 430 it comes as standard I did however had to alter my driving style a bit - with the normal wheel you can do "one handed" full locks - with a wooden steering you cant - did find it a tad awkward at first but used to it now after 5 years of wood steering driving.
  2. hi are these the wheel we are talking about if yes they seem to fit and look ok http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/97116-new-alloy-wheels-ls400/
  3. there are some parts listed for the 98 model on gumtree also a fjord mist coloured mark 4 has just been listed today for parts - might be worth trying both of these sellers
  4. well i have never owned one lol but i have been looking into the GS450h and go on the forums on a regular basis. there is no definitive answer - it all depends how much charge there was in the batteries. on the gs forum it was noted that the engine kicks in as soon as you drive off. im sure the member with the silver 600h up north will be able to tell us more
  5. The answer to your question is no. have a read here about the fault: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/101246-ls430-this-is-where-the-gearbox-problems-begin/
  6. Also check the coolant is at the correct level and colours to rule out any mixing of transmission fluid and coolant - as is the common problem with some LS430s
  7. It should be ok - just make sure the qualities stated in the handbook match what it says on the bottle - I think Steve uses it in his celsior so maybe be able to say more i used castrol edge 0W-30 in mine
  8. if you mean hybrid battery solutions - he is in northampton - so not the same company
  9. I have used tesco's own brand and halfords own brand without any problems - my car is silver
  10. never driven one but the cabin looks comfy in these - happy motoring remember ed china changing the air compressor in one of these and it wasn't too difficult p.s how can you change cars so soften - do you have a trade insurance policy?
  11. you might be right - an owner looking to upgrade - the mark 3 looks just as good
  12. this one is in rotherham - no air suspension either - might be worth a visit http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C660627
  13. on the LS forum a weak battery is known to do weird and unexplainable things - i would start by getting the 12v battery tested
  14. I have'nt been lucky enough to travel the world so have nothing to add apart from "thank goodness we are in England"
  15. actually its still around - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-Lexus-LS-430-4-3-4dr-/272047489286?hash=item3f574b4106:g:s1wAAOSwdvpWDT61
  16. Absolutely knowledge is key - i often go on the GS forums and a common problem on high mileage gs450h's is the transmission oil pump failing - lexus will only fit a new parts at a cost of around 3k ! ! ! one member decided to try and repair his pump and found it could be done by replacing the bearing within the pump which cost £12 ! ! ! - plus costs of new transmission oil.
  17. wow - nice neat cheap fix - knowledge is key i have just this afternoon fixed my door speaker foam surround - will be fitting it back tomorrow - if it works will also do the drivers side. just for comparison lexus price for speaker is £100 - price for 2 foam surrounds is £18 if it doesn't work then i will be buying 2 new genuine speakers
  18. a gold mark 4 with 51k on the clock has sold within a week with an asking price of £3995
  19. thanks for the write up very useful and informative
  20. recently there was a silver on for sale in Luton - no leather either - the seller relisted it many times without success - in the end a dealer bought it - put leather interior into it and its now on their forecourt - some cars command the term "fully loaded" otherwise it does'nt do them any justice
