  1. Well I remember a member here "Manicmark" buying an LS430 which was a write off - the dealer either failed to tel him - He took it back after 2 weeks and got his money back
  2. they do look very smart but for me personally its a no no - because when I think about messing with important controls like that paranoia sets it and i have visions of something going wrong. have you got the front bumper sorted yet?
  3. hi Other common issues are: 1) Leaking shocks - these are only available from lexus at the moment 2) Leaking/weeping water pumps 3) Creaking dash which can be annoying 4) Failed transmission oil pumps - lexus will only replace the whole transmission however one member on here "hayne" has successfully repaired his.. 5) there has been a small number of inverter failures which is also very pricey. what mileage is yours and what major components have been replaced?
  4. best to PM "jon the tourist" and he can give you a run down as he has actually imported from ireland
  5. Update: the wipers turned up today (ap automotive brand)- both have the lift up clip type fitting - fitted fine - first impressions - very good - smooth quiet and clean the screen fine. cost £4.50 inc delivery lets see how long they last?
  6. well the original car is still there however another one has turned up with even higher mileage - 321,000 miles with 29 lexus services http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-GS450H-SE-L/281880622843?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3Db45781be7bca4f199754515d7dbdd379%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D301820514796
  7. well going by the ad and pictures its like its the same person behind it?
  8. yes the gold 56k one is originally member "willydoits" car which was bought by a private trader (same trader that bought the 29k silver LS which was sold to TH bohler which is now jasons car) looks like the car has had a professional valet and professionally photographed - cant fault it really and no doubt it will sell
  9. Hi Brian when i bought my second mark 4 it came with 1 broken key. i then bought some key shells from ebay which came with the metal embedded gold lexus logo and made my key like new again. I then bought a second hand key, programmed it and created a second almost new key with the 2nd shell. i was a bit hesitant about buying the shells from ebay but they turned out to be very good quality and would of lasted long had I not sold my car
  10. i did'nt realise baz had a 400 it does look good - its hard to get one i good condition and this one ticks all the boxes
  11. what does the hybrid health check involve - do they access the battery and check each cell or is there a hidden menu which shows the cell voltages etc?
  12. Thank you, this answers my question perfectly. Generally I have always been rather skeptical about electronic throttle controls on cars, because of how it may introduce a new component for failure. Has it been known for these to ever fail for anybody? Edit: And if it fails, how much do the replacement parts cost? well in 8 years of driving the LS range i have never heard of any failure
  13. hi the transmission problem you are reporting could be a failed oil circulating pump. have a read here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/91739-gs450h-loss-of-power/ all credit goes to hayne im still VERY undecided if i should buy one
  14. i bought some michelin stealth about 8 months ago - paid good money for them as you would they have just developed a judder which i cannot get rid of. i have therefore decided to go for a cheap non make for £4.50! - the seller has sold over 1300 - i would'nt mind replacing them 8 months later. was'nt impressed with the michelins though especially when they cost £26 odd quid!
  15. yes that right - you will see the difference if coming from a mark 3 or earlier model
  16. 1997 and earlier is linkage throttle 1998 onwards is electronic - basically the mark 4 and onwards the electronics make the throttle very responsive and make the car feel light
  17. You forgot to mention that the LS430 is ugly in comparison to the mk4 LS400 partly agree - the facelift ones look nicer though
  18. same here my passenger side was like that and a squirt of WD40 done it - it has been fine fr the last 3 years
  19. This is also a valid suggestion - i have experienced this in my brothers BMW where putting the wrong oil (thinner i thin) caused starting and lumpy idling problems
  20. this is a common problem on the 400s and 430s where the starter contacts wear out and fail to engage on the first start of the day. once the engine is warm the expansion makes the problem go away. The replacement parts are only a few quid but the gettting to the starter motor requires alot of dissembly as you have to remove the intake manifold. it took my mechanic 6 hours on my 400 many years ago. This could be your problem
  21. That's good news, I've decided to bite the bullet and pay the £420.00! really! have you not got a local auto electrician who could try doing the same as the tim - it might solve your problem and alot cheaply. - i have never heard of an airbag light problem either
  22. could you post a link please I spent extra money and bought michelin stealth and they have started to judder after about 8 months. why do wipers judder btw?
