  1. no but both have been around for ages - wierd photos aswell hiding the plates
  2. hi John just looked up your car and i think that is a fantastic price. on auto trader the other 2 closest cars are 08 plates with 100k plus miles or a nordic blue 56 reg with 76k from a private seller. at least you have peace of mind buying from a dealer and if i were you i would look into a lexus extended warranty for piece of mind all the best enjoy your car
  3. this one sounds good - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS-400-4-0-auto-EXCELLENT-PEDIGREE-LEXUS-SERVICE-RECORDS-SUPERB-/221983910708?hash=item33af45ab34:i:221983910708
  4. hi i would check 2 things 1) check the climate control is not switched off - if it is the temp also is not displayed. 2) secondly get the battery checked - weak or faulty battery causes all sorts of weird symptoms hope this helps
  5. i;ve had a 430 for 3 years and happy with it the other day i was coming out of a retail park and saw a lovely shiney green Mark 4 (like scribes) enter the retail park - it looked lovely so smooth and majestic - it also had a wood steering - it made my heart race lol! - i was so tempted to go back and have another look and a chat with the owner (LS are very rare round here) but had to be at work soon. Mark 4s are lovely cars and if ever i can afford 2 cars i will buy one - just to polish and admire it lol
  6. yes i looked at that too and wondered if he had looked at mileages on other cars - surely he should of also looked at the prices they were going for (if he is serious about selling it)
  7. well it did now - can't explain what happened looks nice and clean - interior looks good aswell and being grey leather will be easy to keep clean - decent mileage - price is right aswell well presented car compared to other out there
  8. hi i dont think there is any suspension differences - i remember buying the same 16 inch tyres aswell. the mark 4 though feels alot lighter due to the electronic throttle control here is what to look out for if buying a mark 4: If your looking to buy a Mark 4 here’s what to look out for: Make sure it has a full or at least a good service history which includes the cambelt change. On driving the ride should be quite smooth comfortable with no noises or creaks from the suspension. Gearbox changes should not be noticeable Upon inserting key the steering should tilt and retract - test and make sure the mechanism works When starting from cold the starter should engage and start the engine immediately - if there is clicking sound then be prepared to have the starter or starter contacts replaced - the is a big job - takes about 7 hours therefore costs a lot and finding a competent mechanic who has the knowledge to properly dismantle and reassemble everything may not be as easy as you think.. Braking should be quite and smooth - if you get a groaning noise when coming to stop that’s a sign of cheap aftermarket brake pads - they will need replacing. Check colour of gearbox oil it should be red with no smell of burning. Check all electrics work Check the temperature display backlight works - these fail and require a lot of dismantling to replace. Check the bonnet struts hold the bonnet Check there is no water or dampness in the spare wheel well - if yes then boot seal needs replacing or sealing Check the car has the correct Toyota red coolant Ask if the cabin filter has ever been changed - these are often over looked. Check toolkit is present Check for exhaust blow - the Y pipe is prone to leaking Make sure there are no warning lights lit in the dash Ideally you want 2 remote and one grey key Check the car has a matching set of tyres and wether they are branded or not - this should give an indication wether the car has been pampered or neglected Check the headlamp levelling mechanism still works - these often fail Before driving off make sure you have the say nav code and locking wheel nut key.
  9. hi yes you do need the disc for the sat nave to function. the system is quite aged by now and even if you buy the latest disc, the system will have its limitations compared to standalone units or the smart phone navs. personal opinion if sat nav is a major factor to consider then just stick to a stand alone system as you mentioned.
  10. don't do - honestly - the jag interior looks hideous compared to the LS get another LS
  11. "Hard & Fast Rule" They do on Autotrader, if you advertise more than 6 (I think) cars in a year they do it automatically that you are a trader. Don't know why Ebay cant do the same. Mike. yep gumtree has a similar rule in place Just looking at the same car on gumtree, got there putting 07555920534 in google. Where does it say whether trade or private? Not saying it doesn't, just that I can't see it. thats being sold by lexuschap Trade Yes, I realise that, but where does it actually say it's a trade ad? The point i was making about gumtree is if you list a certain number of cars for sale in a year then you have to start paying

  13. just seen this - its at mansell motors birmingham looks good - but mot history does not add up - what could be the reason?
  14. Baz's car was mentioned here on this forum: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/104626-nice-looking-400/
  15. "It sounds like you are having the same problem as I did when trying to replace the sepentine belt, they seem to be too small to fit over the pulleys, on one attempt I was actually kneeling on the top of the engine pulling the belt up with both hands trying to get it over the pulley." this made me laugh i have done the belt on my 400 in the past - took me 15 mins and few attempts
