  1. you must of driven the ls600h - the 460 is just like the 430 - straight 4.6l petrol engine with road tax costing around £500 a year - the ls600h which is a 5l V8 coupled with an electric motor and is reported to run on electric up 30mph. The road tax on the ls600h is around £280
  2. hi keith A while back someone on here mentioned that it cannot be done because of direct injection - however there is video on you tube which shows a ls460 converted and running on LPG so my guess it can be done but the number of installers who have done one is going to be limited. My advise is ring around some installers and ask them and go with an installer who is experienced in not only LPG but also knows his way round an engine. The LS460 is a complicated car in terms of electronics and you don't want an installation which is not done properly. Im sure mike (bluesman) will know more than me also the LS460 in not hybrid at all HTH
  3. hi the LS430 amplifier has a common problem also whereby the power supply fails and the amp stops working - everything else works except no sound. When mine packed up i got it repaired by svt services in edinburgh for £285 - they specialise in this sort of stuff it might be an idea to give them a ring (speak to chris) and see if he can help you.
  4. HI Damon I have a 430 but have been researching into the GS450H - if the RX400H is any similar then i understand that when the engine is not being used the heating is via electric setup which means you will get instant heat therefore engine temp is not relevant.
  5. If your looking to buy a Mark 4 here’s what to look out for: Make sure it has a full or at least a good service history which includes the cambelt change. On driving the ride should be quite smooth comfortable with no noises or creaks from the suspension. Gearbox changes should not be noticeable Upon inserting key the steering should tilt and retract - test and make sure the mechanism works When starting from cold the starter should engage and start the engine immediately - if there is clicking sound then be prepared to have the starter or starter contacts replaced - the is a big job - takes about 7 hours therefore costs a lot and finding a competent mechanic who has the knowledge to properly dismantle and reassemble everything may not be as easy as you think.. Braking should be quite and smooth - if you get a groaning noise when coming to stop that’s a sign of cheap aftermarket brake pads - they will need replacing. Check colour of gearbox oil it should be red with no smell of burning. Check all electrics work Check the temperature display backlight works - these fail and require a lot of dismantling to replace. Check the bonnet struts hold the bonnet Check there is no water or dampness in the spare wheel well - if yes then boot seal needs replacing or sealing Check the car has the correct Toyota red coolant Ask if the cabin filter has ever been changed - these are often over looked. Check toolkit is present Check for exhaust blow - the Y pipe is prone to leaking Make sure there are no warning lights lit in the dash Ideally you want 2 remote and one grey key Check the car has a matching set of tyres and wether they are branded or not - this should give an indication wether the car has been pampered or neglected Check the headlamp levelling mechanism still works - these often fail Before driving off make sure you have the say nav code and locking wheel nut key hope this helps
  6. for me 430 any day! initially when i bought it it took me a while to adjust from the 400 - the 430 is marginally noisier in terms of cabin noise and not as smooth however the extra easily compensate for that - if i had enough disposable income i would have an immaculate example of each mark ! p.s in over 3 years of ownership i have only had a parking sensor go, door speakers blown - cost £12 to repair and amplifier packed up costing £300 to repair
  7. Japex in kings langley get good reviews on this forum - if you are looking for a belt only change Lexus dealers do it for £295
  8. i have an ls430 and bought michelin stealth wipers for £30 odd - they only lasted 8 months untill they started juddering badly - so i had another look on ebay and bought a set branded AP Automotive for £4 inc delivery. - been on a about 3 months and so far brilliant - quite a smooth withe missing or streaking - at that price i wouldnt mind if they lasted 8 months!
  9. yep since there is very few good examples around the prices have crept up.
  10. hi these are failed bulbs - requires alot of dismantling and soldering skills have a read here: (2 parts) http://www.evansweb.info/2009/11/15/ls400-centre-console-illumination-repair-part-1/
  11. a bit misleading - they put the lexus logo on top and also offer contact numbers on the bottom of the page - i would of the thought Lexus being a Luxury brand they would be offering it on Lexus first and then Toyota
  12. this has turned up again on auto trader - the advert appears as being sold by the original seller - i.e owned for 12 years etc etc - weird?
  13. thats a very good price - i buy castrol edge 8 litres plus aftermarket filters and its usually around that figure - if not a bit more. only one question - how would toyota reference the parts for a lexus?
  14. Hi David this problem has been mentioned here before and i myself have experienced it when look for my 430 - there really is not a solution to his - its just how it is and it effects some non facelift 430s. mine is a facelift and i have never experienced any delay or lag - its perfect. only thing i can suggest is talk to a dealer and see if there is anything such as a software upgrade or something that can be done
  15. lovely looking motor - im hoping to get one when i can afford one- enjoy!
  16. yes - i had seen that it had gone from one seller to the trader - i saw the original advert on car and classic website - had not seen the the piston head ones.
  17. p939uhr was last motd in 2012 with 206000 miles on it - no record after that so either its off road or does'nt exist any more
